I'm in!

How about meeting at one of the picnic tables in the cluster just beyond the restrooms which are in the building on your left hand side of the road as you drive into the park.

I'll wear my blue SparkPeople t-shirt...see everyone there!

Okay, let's do it! Since I didn't check in until today, clearly I wasn't there, but we can set some details and start next week.

How about:
Otsiningo Park
2pm Saturdays (weather permitting - above 45 degrees and no rain?)
meet... where? I've only been there 2 times since moving here so I don't know where a good "meeting place" would be.

Any changes, post it and we'll come up with a solid plan that can work for weeks and months to come!

Bad news is, I won't be able to do it on the 16th, headed out of town for family.

Love the idea of a weekly meet & greet!

How about Saturday afternoon? Location...Otsiningo?

But: would love to know if anyone IS going to do Make-A-Wish...? Unfortunately I'm tied up in the morning so I can't do it...but would like to know if others are...? In time I am hopeful that we can build a SparkPeople presence and have a number of us with our SparkPeople t-shirts joining in such events!

I would do Make-A-Wish this Saturday but my mother is coming to visit that day.

Why don't we just set up a weekly time and place to meet up to walk/run, so we don't have to always wait for an event? If you show up, great! If not, well, I guess you were busy. What would you guys think of that?

I would be interested in WALKing in any of these with some fellow binghamton sparkers. If you are interested in one of them, let me know and we can make plans!

Make-A-Wish is either walk or run...

I just can't make any definite plans with San Diego on my mind... :-)

But I'll keep this in mind and may pop in at the last minute!

We should pick an event this summer and have us all go in it as a group. I don't think I can run a 5K but I would love to walk one.

That is right, a 5K is 3.1 miles.

I will be running it.

I don't think you have to have any certain amount of sponsors but there is a registration fee.

i just read an article that stated that the run they did last year in sept. had walkers also. the group leader has decided this year to keep the finish line up longer so that the walkers could also finish. they are starting the walkers and the runners at the same time. it was a link off the link that you gave us. try to look it up. i lost the piece of paper with the web address on it. if i can find it i will post it. bye all

Hello - you're welcome.
If you go to triplecitiesrunnersclub.org/
it lists many "runs" in Binghamton and the surrounding areas by month and many of them have links to the events and maybe on those sites it says "Walk/Run" or "walkers welcome".

Shannon did the bike thing last year w/her son I think and really enjoyed it but I don't remember when it was.

Hey thx for the additional info...keep us up on more particulars as you find them out. What about us non-runners...any point in joining in any of these? Also does anyone remember last year one of our members did a bicycle thing...not sure if it was a marathon or what...I didn't join in then but might do it this year.

There is a 4 miler run this Sat at St. Patricks church in Binghamton.

As for the Danielle walk/run - last year they said they discontinued it so not sure that you will see a post for it this year.

There is a 5K run at the spiedie fest the first weekend in august

And also the Lee Barta 5K run on 7/25

That is all I can think of now

Okay folks! Let's post all the upcoming walks/runs/biking events in our area so we can prepare for them, join in, wear our SPARKPEOPLE T-shirts, etc.

It would be great if we can join together in some of the upcoming events this year!

I don't know anything about these events, unfortunately. I remember last year some joined in a biking event.

Just thought if I started this thread we'd try to keep it in mind if we hear anything on the news or read about it in the paper.
