decided to run this morning not good. Fell on black ice after about 10 minutes. Came home got my hiking poles and did about an hour but then fell in my driveway. Luckily I had done my weight training before starting off this morning.

We will see how I am in the morning.

There is a great feature today on Nordic walking poles here on the spark board. I have them and LOVE them. They are a great way to increase you workout without a lot of extra work.

My cats are the culprits that keep me from sleeping in. They start using me as their trampoline if I haven't fed 'em by 7...lol

Had hoped to go back for more "punishment" (i.e. cross country skiing) today but the darned course was "closed due to unsafe conditions" whatever that meant...there seemed to be enough snow around...was FRUSTRATED as I hope to get back for a little more before the season is over!

He is too cute. Well you need to get them exercising with you. Let them hang on to your legs and use them for weights and let that be your weight training. They could climb on your back when you do push ups. HAHA

I have tried the getting up early thing believe me I'm up by 4:30 at the latest, but unfortunately my 3 year old has inherited his mommy's genes and he's up too! ;) Gotta love it, so most of the time it's dancing around the house with the kids for me :)

I had a long long day. Broken car. But its fixed and I got LOTS of walking in. Lots of walking in.

Didn't get to the gym had to settle for free weights at home.

The chill is settling in the air I fear for a cold walking in the morning.

Well, decided against going to MI after all...too much snow around...makes me nervous tackling a 12 hour trek across these northern states.

So instead I'm still taking the time off...to play "hookey" and just catch up on little stuff that needs doing...maybe get back out to tackle some cross country skiing, etc.

Despite being wiped out from gallstones on Mon. I STILL got on the ol' mill and had my workout yesterday and again this morning...no signs of trouble so my cardio streak since Jan. 6th continues...YES! :-)

Saw The International this past weekend...hoping for a Bond-like suspense flix...don't waste your money... :-(

When my kids were little (many many moons ago) is when I started my early morning workouts. It was a time when hubby and kiddies were still asleep, no swim lessons, dance classes, baseball etc. I could escape for a 45 minute workout without interruptions. I guess its a habit I haven't given up. And now that I care for my parents its still a time of day that I can reserve for me. Carving out a space for you each day makes you a better mommy. I use to feel guilty about it then I realized that making myself healthy and fit was really giving to my family.

You all are so good at getting in your workouts... mine have been mostly playing with the kids and dancing around the house... seems to be all I can muster :) With three under 6 I am chasing constantly and don't get a whole lot of me time, so it's usually odd workouts here and there...
Congrats to all on doing so well...
BTW if any of you are looking for a good movie to see... Fireproof was great :)

I don't sleep much so by 5:15 Ive been up for hours. If you dress right its all good. I love my wool socks, neck gaiter etc. You need all the "stuff" to make it work. Above zero is warm to me if dressed right.

I did see bears in Alaska but no polar bears. LOL

BRR you must be part polar bear (did you get alaskan blood when you were there?) or I am a wimp! I prefer to think you are part polar bear emoticon

I took the dogs for a 30 min walk awhile ago and was pretty cold. Actually I knew it was only a short walk so I didn't REALLY dress for it so my own fault.

Great job on gettin gthe walks in - pretty soon it will be 68 instead of 28!!

We walked out full 4 miles today. It was cold, windy, icy, but I was sweating by the end. It took almost an hour today so were "slow" or slow for us, but got it done yeah.

Now if I can hit the gym after work all will be good. Enjoy your Friday.

Yeah I do pretty well with the Valentine's day food. My boyfriend and I usually do a nice dinner out or make dinner together. I think I will encourage the make dinner together this year. That way we have more control of the food and how it is cooked, it's cheaper, and there is jsut something that I love about making dinner together :-)

I understand all to well Amylizz. My hubby is my worse "helper". He is always getting me something he knows I love. I am working on training him to that I also love fresh fruit and veggies. I read him the riot act about Valentine day. NO CHOCOLATE, NO WINE, NO CAKE etc. A card would be nice.

Hello everyone!

Well I have definitely had a slow start getting motivated for the past few weeks but I'm still trying. I did a 20 minute run on my elliptical tonight and now that it is done, I'm so glad I did it! It is so true when they say that the hardest part is starting.

The one place that I am really having a hard time is the food. Everytime I turn around someone is giving me food at work! For example today... I was teaching a class and one of my friends came in quietly and put a candy bar on my desk! I asked her about it later and she said that she needed some chocolate and thought she would get one for me too! I mean it's a nice gesture but it's KILLING me! It's frustrating because she knows I am trying to work on this... I guess I just need to say no and not feel bad about it. grrrr

I'm just going to keep trying!

Glad to hear that about Otsiningo...I read somewhere that Madison, WS is so health conscious that during the winter by 5 a.m. they have crews clearing out all their sidewalks for walkers / runners. It's great to see communities coming around to the needs of the people! :-)

Hello Everyone - How are you doing? emoticon

I know it has been awhile and I thought I would check in and say hello - see who was here and what you are up to.

Don still plugging away on the TM and Pat - you brave soul - conquering the great icy roads!!

I have been putting in time on the TM as well and when it is nice I make it to Otsiningo to run. They take really good care of those paths so it is safe. I got a good long run in on Sat. It wasn't as warm as I was hoping and really quite windy but good to be outside.

Hopefully we will get the warm without the rain on Wed. and I can go again right after work since it is staying light out just enough now that I should be able to get it done.

I hope you are all striving for your goals and having FUN at the same time!!

we were out of town to a rubber chicken dinner. Luckily it was Awful so I didn't eat much. I was driving so water only. And the hotel had a work out room for me to spend time in.

So even though a boring meeting out of time, I didn't blow the diet or exercise

Hello! It was dreary yesterday, but I managed to go for a nice walk and took the dogs. They haven't walked that far in a while, either, so it really wiped them out last night..good for me! I could have walked more but wanted to get some things done around the house.

Going to be another nice one today..warm...so get out there and enjoy!

Hey, about time to get a Feb. chat thread going 'round here don'tcha think? :-)

Well, I missed the little bit of sunshine around here today...by the time we were able to get out for a walk it was so dreary I headed back home to my 'mill...would rather have the speakers coming at me from all four corners of the room to move me along, since I no longer had any sunshine...

How's everyone doing this weekend? It was nice to see Tara pop her head back in...hope she comes around some more!
