I measured all that and put it in a separate folder. Thanks I forgot my calf so I will do that too.

Funny story - I measured my thigh from the wrong side of the tape and thought it was as big as my waist! emoticon I was a bit confused...how could that be? I have a relatively small waist compared to the rest of me so I thought well I must look really weird and then duh...

I definately agree with the tape measure/way my clothes fit over the scale. I took pictures in Jan. when I started this "adventure" and then again in Apr.(on my spark page in photo gallery if interested). I go back to them A LOT when I get stuck or lack motivation. It is so easy to get lost in the day to day that you need something like that to refocus your efforts. I also do my measurements once a month - as of the beginning of May I've lost 28.75 inches. (Oops haven't done June yet - see how lazy I'm getting ... maybe it's time for ME to revisit that page huh!!)

I admit I am on the scale almost daily - but I don't stress over the day to day ups and downs I just use it to get me going or keep me going.

Keep up the good work all!!

You guys -- I had a moment like this on Monday. I had been sick with laryngitis, and had not been to the gym for 2 weeks. Before that, we had gone to Disney for a week in April or March, and when I got back, I skipped the following week at the gym too - so that was another 2 weeks right there that I missed. I had also been researching PCOS, which I have, and the recommendation is a high protein, low carb diet, with good whole grains and such. So I was doing that, and the scale wasn't moving down, as usual.

Sssssooooooo, I went to my doctor appointment on Monday (my new doctor, who I LOVE, sees me monthly about my weight and health), the nurse weighed me and I was UP 2 POUNDS. I was not happy. Then the doctor came in and MEASURED me. I lost 2" from each of my thighs!!!!!!!!! I was so happy. Now, if I had only been using the scale, I would've been depressed and discouraged. But since we were using other measures to check progress, we saw the bigger picture.

So, I'm able to go forward and it gave me the motivation to happily get back to the gym. I went this morning and I feel great that I worked out.

Anyway, I just wanted to agree that it's so great to look at all angles of your progress so that you don't get caught in a negative rut. Especially me, with the PCOS, it's very hard to lose weight.

Night Sky

I definitely agree.. Everything in life is more mental than anything, I believe. A few years ago I started trying to live by a motto I heard that said.. Every day you can wake up and choose to be happy or choose to be unhappy. I try to apply that to everything I do. So every day, I wake up and I choose to be happy. When things go wrong, I choose to be happy. I choose to make things better, to look at the bright side and focus on the positives.

Nice Kayla. Thanks for sharing.

I like that you are becoming aware of the inner negative voice that we all have. It will tell you terrible things about yourself. Sometimes it will get the best of you, but if you sit back, breath and be aware, you will start to recognize that voice and it will have less power.

Funny this is just as much mental as it is physical. In fact, more so, because the "What you believe you conceive" theory.

You are right on about weighing yourself daily and not to fall into that trap!

I posted this at another group and thought I would post it here as well.....

====================

There are ups and downs in every part of life including this journey to better health that we're all on. One thing that I think is important (in life in general) is to focus on the positive aspects of whatever it is ~ so today I'm thinking about all my negatives and turning them into positives.

So I thought I'd ask you what yours are?

Here are just a few of mine...

Negative: The damn scale is stuck and I'm a compulsive daily weigher.
Positive: My muscles are sore and so they are most likely holding onto fluid. Also, with regular strength training I'm not always going to see the number on the scale going down as much as I'd like.
ACTION: Weigh myself (if i must!) but don't use it as a determining factor of my progress. Measure myself! AND take pictures. In a month, do it again - then see the REAL progress regardless of what the scale says.

Negative: I'm fat.
Positive: SO WHAT. Yeah, I'm fat and I'll still be fat if I let that stop me. I'm the only one who can change that.
ACTION: Do something about it. Next week/month/year will be here just as fast whether I change or not, so there's no time like RIGHT NOW to change - all I have to do is stick with it, every day, every hour, every decision. Only I can change my life.

Negative: All of my muscles hurt! (Well most anyways lol)
Positive: That means I am getting stronger! YAY
ACTION: Listen to my body. Take a walk instead of intense cardio until I feel better. Figure out what muscles DON'T hurt and find exercises that uses those muscles.

OK I'll stop rambling! :) Though, I do think ANYTHING can be turned into something positive if you want it to. So next time you want to whine or complain think about what you're saying and make it better. Make it positive.
