Shekirk, congrats on the good news from the doctor!
The naturopath wanted me to not eat sugar. I worked it out with him that I wouldn't eat it 6 days a week. He wanted a whole month. Yeah, right...the week right before Easter and during birthday season at our house. Sorry, once a week is the best I can do. Two days done. I know there is sugar hidden in things like salad dressing, but I'm still not worried about that as much. I've always noticed that it's when I have more than about 50 calories per day of the extra sweets that I have a big problem. I've been eating popcorn every day until I get past wanting to reach for those sugary treats.
I totally enjoyed Easter. No "I'll eat just one serving and then get right back on track" for me. I believe that I should be able to enjoy anything on that one day, and then get back on track. How many days do we have were we eat anything we want with no guilt? Easter, Birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas... Even if we found one day a month when we ate anything we want, that's better than the old habits of eating wrong every day.
Just the way I see it.
Here are the birthdays this month: oldest son--April 4, third son--April 15, second son--April 22, daughter in law--May 4. So this weekend we'll be celebrating with our third son. We'll celebrate the rest on May 5 when Tim, John and Laney are all in town. James wants cheesecake and ice cream. Already a better choice as far as sugar goes. After this month the next birthday is mine in June, then daughter in August and hubby in October.
