I actually applied to be team leader, but it's been about a week with no response, so I don't know if the original leader chose to stay on or not. Based on his Spark page he is not active.
Whatever. We press on. I'm going to start a new topic called "Research" to try and cull some of the latest info on causes, treatment, and prevention.

I am new to SparkPeople, and I am trying to learn how to manage my gout. It has become an issue for me in just the past year. I am excited to have this resource (All About Gout team) and hope to interact with some of you soon.

Do you have a link about the alfalfa tablets. I take many supplements many related directly to my MS. I took 2 different meds when I was first diagnosed this summer. I am now just on the Allepurinol (not sure of the spelling there) I feel like I am gearing up for it to flare again. I have read that they are thinking that gout may be an autoimmune disease and also that it could be linked to insulin resistance. I am inclined to think that both theories could have some truth in them. One gout like most autoimmune diseases has times when it is flared and times when it is in remission and the actually cause of the disease is unclear. I think it also is interesting that I am a woman and it usually is not something found in women. But I also already have an autoimmune disease(MS). I have found out that some of the medicines I have been taking for years can cause the uric acid build-up in my body. I wonder if I was more prone to that side effect because of my body being prone auto immune diseases. Also for my self personally I am starting to notice symptoms that coincide with times that I am either having a high carb intake or high sugar intake. Just putting some thoughts out there to anyone who is interested.

I am hear and I love to post stuff. I am a firm believer in homeopathic remedies. I am a team leader for the MS group. So I am always looking into natural things, diet, exercise, and mental health. I got super lucky and got a few extra doses of health issues. So just a run-down of the list overweight(getting gastric bypass in september), Depression(caused by MS and meds for MS), Anxiety, Multiple Sclerosis, Degenerative Disc Disease, and now Gout. I am officially a mess. So hopefully we can revive this page. I hope everyone has a good day!

I, like you, was happy to find this team. I needed it. I was very disappointed to find it dead in the water. I was able to get Team Leader, I'm going to try hard to make it a helpful group. Hope you will stick around.
Hello everyone I'm still around I haven't had any gout attacks for about a year now. I'm just starting to walk and work out at gym.I just wanted to say I miss you all and hope to talk to you all on the gout sparkteam page
