I know this is an old post, but I do my running on Jayhawk Blvd. I usually don't get to run until after dark, and this street is well lit and regularly patrolled by KUPD, so I feel pretty safe. Plus, from the crosswalk in front of Marvin hall to the main crosswalk in front of the Kansas Union is exactly half a mile, so it's easy for me to track my distance.

Did you do your best today?

There are trails by the Kansas river where you can either run, walk or bike. It's about a 9 mile loop and is a very well kept trail.
Location: The park entrance and parking lot is just off 8th & Oak streets in North Lawrence. Check

I love walking out by Clinton Lake or by the softball complex along K10. I think I may check out campus next time. I always see energetic faces around there. I never thought about Lawrence Ave. That sounds like an excellent spot!

You're right! That is a great spot! I also like walking about by Clinton Lake - somewhat isolated and very beautiful scenery!

I take my jogs over on the bike path by the movie theatre. It's pretty remote after 5 and I can do those silly jumps and lunges without feeling too silly about it.

Motivation is key!

The new and newish streets off to the northwest of Free State High are a great walking area. New asphalt roadways (the best surface in my humble opinion), very little car traffic, optional gentle inclines, and in the early morning I often see wonderful wildlife.

Does anyone have any walking or running locations in Lawrence that you really enjoy? I'm always looking for a change of scenery. I do enjoy walking around campus, especially around the Memorial Stadium. I also like walking up the hill on Lawrence Ave., between Princeton and Sixth St. It looks like torture, but it's actually a slow incline.

People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.
