Total weight loss for me (doesn't reflect on my marker) is around 70 pounds. Now I'm over 50 so was really worried about loose skin. With proper weight loss, around 2 pounds a week, and exercise, I haven't had a problem. Wrinkles, yea but I'm not in my 20's anymore but not loose skin. Don't worry so much, follow Spark to a healthy weight loss, exercise to help firm and you'll be fine.

It's funny: a dear friend always used to say "life is about choices". That's true! Weight loss is about choosing right food and exercise. And I think the whole thought underlying this thread is about choices, too: would I rather have loose skin or those extra pounds? emoticon

I don't think you have to worry about that. Cardio and weight or just walking helps with that. Good Luck on the weight loss. emoticon

I am glad someone asked this! I have been scared about that too! I have about 30 pounds to lose and really don't want saggy skin! Thanks!

I lost 67lbs and I do not have any loose skin. It took me 8 months to lose the weight and I have kept it off now for 2 years. As long as you exercise, drink plenty of water and lose no more than 2lbs a week you will be fine. Great job so far and keep going! You can do it!

It depends upon how much weight you lose and how fast. Slow and steady helps your skin back to normal. My sister lost about 100 pounds in a year and she had to have about 30 pounds of excess skin removed. Hers was pretty bad.

I only lost 20 pounds and I have some, but it should tone up as I tone up (at least according to the trainers!) It's not horrible, just kinda weird and more wrinkly than my skin was before I lost the weight. So, now I gotta keep on the weights!

Good luck!

Jen

Age is also en equasion to factor in. The younger you are, the more elasticity in your skin. Losing at 2 lbs. a week or less, getting both cardio and strength exercises (including toning), getting proper rest, and keeping well hydrated it is possible (if your skin has enough elasticity) that you may have very little loose skin.

I've lost 45 pounds since Dec 2007 and I have no lose skin. It's been a slow go and I've exercised the entire time. I don't think you have to worry about that. God bless, Ginny

Hi! Good job on your weight loss so far!!
How much loose skin you have will depend on how quickly you lose the weight, and how much you exercise throughout the weight loss to build up the muscle tone.
Bottom line, a little loose skin is way less of a problem (to me, at least) than the negative health issues related to being overweight. And hey! Thanks to the wonders of Spanx and other "smoothing" undergarments, the loose skin doesn't even show!! emoticon
