It finally snowed enough for me to go out and try out my snowshoes I got last year and never used. I really liked it but sure didn't get far without being out of breath!

This winter my family is trying to get in shape and ready to go hiking the Appalachian trail; I guess were planning on sometime this spring beginning our challenge. Personally I think it would be exciting to do a walk through but of course I just do not for see having six months to spare.

I went to the first group run and it was ok. Because I was new and everyone else seemed to know each other I ended up running on my own and then walking with a wonderful older woman at the back of the pack. I'm not sure I'll stay with the group because it is a fundraising group and I don't really like that aspect of it. I'll go again next week and try again, maybe I will feel differently.

I have also decided to start walking to work (6 miles) and today was day one. I started with riding the bus half way and then walking the other half and will work up to walking all 6 miles to and from work everyday. Of course when the snow comes I may have to rethink the everyday thing.

Wow how interesting! I have been trying to join a run/walk and just haven't had the time. I have joined the black girls run organization but haven't been to any as yet. I will soon for sure cause I would like to start new things and meet new people as well. I hope all that snow won't get you down but more into being active. I live in NYC and it snows but not like where you are. Have fun and enjoy the winter. Would love to hear about your snow adventures and your progress with the run/walk. emoticon

I have joined a group, that will raise funds for the Huntsman Cancer Research Institute emoticon . We are training to run/walk either a half or full marathon in April. I am aiming for running the half marathon. I've never tried anything like this before, I'm hoping that it will help me be more motivated to run/walk outside and meet new people because I just moved to the area.

I have also moved to an area known for their snow skiing (Salt Lake City, UT), I haven't lived near snow for 15 years so I'm excited to try snow shoeing, cross-country skiing and possibly snowboarding.

So my plan is to run with my group every weekend and spend time learning new snow sports.

I get really sad during this time of the season because it limits my time outdoors. I love fishing and doing my run/walks outside. I'll be planning my indoor activities and hopefully it will help during this time where we tend to eat more because we are not as active. First I will buy new DVDs to workout to and more exercise equipment. I'm really thinking about getting a punching bag so I can relieve some stress and continue to burn calories. Netflix has been really good to me last year providing they have a nice amount of exercise videos so I will continue that.

What are your plans?
