I've been on this team for several years as I bought the book when I first saw ROGER GOULD, M.D. on a talk show. I've read it through several times and I'm not an "emotional eater" but found the book had a LOT of help in so many ways. I was always thin until I was 41 and had my fifth child & didn't get the weight off. With menopause it got worse with the weight problem. So, I found the book really helpful to me. I thought I was "fat" when I was 130# as back then my husband took "fat pictures" of me so I could see WHY he was telling me about my "big rear." (I had the JLo "Junk in the Trunk" when it wasn't in-style.) So I hated my "figure." The book helped me a lot.

I meant the one on this team. This thread is in the general team discussion. Two forums down is the Book Discussion Forum. If you click on the see more topics button you will see a thread for every chapter of the book (not sure how they relate to the online program).

There is also some good stuff in the Dr. Gould's forum (the one below book discussion).

Are you talking about the "forum" on the SY website? I haven't been able to get it work in the 2 weeks I've been on the program. When I click on the Forum tab I just get an error message saying that page cannot be accessed. I sent an email via SY to see if they could advise but so far have not gotten a response. Is that the forum you are referring to or is there one somewhere here on Spark? If so, where do I find that? Thanks!

Hi UNIQUE! Welcome to the team. Have you had a chance to look at the forum section about the book and see where it fits with the on-line program? Keep us posted of your progress.
Denise

I'm working on the online program. I'm on Week 2 and loving it!!! I haven't bought the book I wasn't sure if reading the book would interfere in any way with the weekly sessions online. I kind of like digesting one week's worth of information and applying it then moving on to the next but am curious about the book. I started to buy it yesterday and then decided I would wait. I am very excited about the program. I used Spark and lost 40 pounds 3 years ago and guess what? I am exactly the same weight today that I was when I started then....so I have that same 40 actually more to lose AGAIN. This isn't the first time I have done this in my adult life (I'm 51) so obviously I am not fixing the root problem and I know that is "Emotional Eating"--so I went in search of specific articles about EE and found ShrinkYourself. I'm very optimistic.

Hi there;

My plan is also to read every day. I would love to be finished with the book by march 1 or so and to start the online program at that time. I have been an emotional eater for my entire life, so this is going to take awhile!

I'm working through the Online Program and I'm currently on Week 2. I got quite far in the book, well into the practical sessions. Probably the 3rd practical session?

I'm working in chapter 10 now. I even got out my notebook like it said so I could write down my observations as I go. Anybody else in ch 10?

What chapter are you in?

I was wrong! I was in chapter 9 which is a chapter that makes the transition from the first part of the book that explains the whys, to the second part that explains the hows! I'm going to go read what has been posted so far under the chapter 9 & chapter 10 threads then head to bed and start chapter 10.

I'd love to know where we all are in the book or the program! I love the idea of being able to discuss where we're at within each chapters thread posted below under the Book Discussion forum. Perhaps for now with so few of us we could try to support each other in their chapters section as well as checking out the section for our own chapter. This could reinforce previous chapters for us as well.

I'm also curious as to what your plan is for going forward with the program. I have committed to reading every day. Not even a certain amount, but I will pick up the book and read every day. What is your plan? A chapter a week, a page a day?

I'm just starting chapter 10, getting started! I have had so many ah ha moments reading to this point and I have been looking forward to getting to the work part of the book. Time to take a good look at myself!
