What a great study! I always find it interesting how different verses speak to us at different times/seasons in our lives.
You bring up a good point about having things, but we must be willing to give to others. Just today I heard on the radio a preacher saying how many Christians have the "me, me, me and me some more" mindset.
And last week on the same radio station, a woman was telling a pastor she was praying to God to save her father and he died while she was praying. The pastor asked if she was keeping any of God's commandments. She was stunned silent. He said, "you're trying to cash a check that doesn't belong to you." I'd never heard it said this way before and it's certainly given food for thought.
Yes indeed, God is good!

Sure, I am studying from the principles from the teachings of Jesus. From the sermon on the mount. In Matthew 5. Taking verses and breaking them down. EXAMPLE: Blessed are the poor inspirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew5;3. And we than talk about it. What does this mean to me? Another example is about giving to god and tithes. Example, First go and be reconciled to your brother, than come and offer your gifts. Matthew5:24. Applied to giving, Jesus taught his followers that before they offered their material possessions to God , they must seek forgiveness from those they have wronged. We have done this with many verses. The bottom line is God wants us to trust in him and rely on him for our needs. Yes, we can have things but be willing to give to others. Example Give to the one who asks you,and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. MATTHEW5:42. God is good. .
This apparently has died out, but I think it's a good thread. I have Bible study on Friday evenings and this past weeks study was about faith; that saying you believe isn't enough, because even the devil believes, but that was must do more. Can we fire this thread up again?
Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV) 18: Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. 19: Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) 18: Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19: See. I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
