I think the most important thing we can all learn from this great experience is that we have to listen to our bodies.
Clynn I wouldn't eat if I wasn't hungry either. Unfortunately I was starting to feel hungry again. It really surprised me to find out that I was eating so little. I feel so much better that I am not on the over eating treadmill and that I really can have my veggies, fruits, etc.
We are in a constant state of making sure we don't go back to where we came from..
It is exactly 2 years for me now and I am determined to spend the rest of my life enjoying my new body. I think that Spark is the best place for me! It really helps me focus.

I know I am told that I need to up my calories to lose the last 20 pounds......but this makes NO sense to me. I keep my calories between 500-800 per day, 50-65g protein, and less than 75g carbs, 8 glasses of water, and walking 1-2 miles per day....... and I am losing between 1 and 2 pounds per week. I am NOT going to up my calories until I reach my goal weight. This makes sense to me. And I'm going to take full advantage of the fact that I'm not hungry and feel full on 12 to16 ounces of food per day.

You are so right! I am very carefully tracking and I am still not getting enough calories. I started seriously walking again, so I am hoping that with the increase of calories and moving more I will start the scale moving. I haven't dropped weight so I am trying not to panic stay in control, and carefully monitor everything so that am in the zone I need to be in.
Thanks for your suggestions. I really appreciate your encouragement.

JEWEL - I prob eat 1000-1200 calories most days, sometimes more..... sometimes your body actually needs more calories to lose the weight, too few calories and the body thinks its starving and will hold onto all the fat it can! So don't be afraid of a few more calories.... maybe that is what your body needs?!

I have noticed that I am still not reaching 1200 calories. I have been adding more fruits and veggies. I even added another bread. It scares me because I am not dropping lbs. and I am afraid of gaining. Has anyone done this?

Another day down. It feels so wonderful to be in control. It is amazing what structure must mean to me. I always thought that I was spontaneous and have a devil may care attitude. But, when it comes to my weight and my emotional health, having this structure is not only necessary, but and integral part of keeping me stable.
The difference in my mood is absolutely remarkable. I have planned my meals for most of the week. I will not have any surprises. Who knew? I am so happy to be back with our Spark home.

Day 3 back with Spark. I am down 1 lb. I am still shocked. Just by tracking I was able to eat so much more. I have eliminated the feeling of not being in control. Every time I felt hungry I checked my tracker and still had room for great snacks. I am eating so much more great foods. I will say a prayer of thanks for all of my fellow sparker's that you have given me the courage to regain the self respect that I lost. What a wonderful place for us to meet!

This is my 2nd day back at Spark and I am re-motivated. I felt out of control for the first time in the 2 years that I had my surgery. I was up 13 lbs from my goal. I didn't drop today, but I wasn't eating enough, I know you all know how I felt. Tracking and drinking had stopped, What an eye opener it was to see!! Thank you for all being here. emoticon

I love the idea of this team.... I am about 10 months post op and have lost 80 lbs.... and then hit a major wall! While I have not regained any weight.... I DO want to lose a little more, but I definitely DO NOT want to start regaining weight..... I have worked too hard to get here.

I hope to find a group where I can actively suport others in their journey while also getting support in my own...

I pray I can be an encouragement to you on this journey!

I am thrilled to have found this group. I had the RNY gastric in 2008 and initially lost over 200 lbs. now I would like to re-START my weight loss journey. Because of some tragic happenings in our family I have regained about 60lbs. I am NOW starting today to re lose those unwanted lbs. and start my health journey again. I would appreciate any and ALL help from new weight loss friends! Support groups do REALLY help.... Any takers! Thanks for listening...I am very serious about getting healthy again. I am starting my recreation center membership in two weeks and will be starting a zumba class again...IT IS SO FUN!!!

Hey all! I've been back on SP for a few weeks now. Trying to get my stuff together and get this weight off. You can read my profile if you want but basically I had RNY 10/20/2003 at 393#'s. I lost 193#'s and got to my lowest weight of 200#'s. I got pregnant in 2005, which is why I had surgery to begin with. Sugar bottomed out constantly, had to eat every 2 hours and didn't choose the right foods, I gained 70#'s. I went up and down but at my 2nd pregnancy gained 30 more. emoticon I have been up and down ever since. I discovered 2 years ago I had a hormone sensitivity due to a medical issue and worked my butt off only to lose 24#'S in 18 MONTHS!!!! Needless to say I gave up.

Well, fast foward to a few weeks ago. I went on vacation and when I tipped the scales at 300#'s AGAIN, I decided enough is enough! I have been surrounded by several ppl who have had RNY recently and they look so beautiful. That has inspired me to get on the bandwagon. This time the device is gone so the weight is coming off with my hard work this time!! Praise God! I'm on a mission!!

Phillipians 3:13-14 (NLT) No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: FORGETTING the PAST and looking FORWARD to what lies ahead. I PRESS ON to REACH the end of the race and RECEIVE the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Today is my 2nd surgi-versary and I was down to 150 but now am 158. I need to turn this back around. I gained it while eating hospital food when my dad was dieing this summer and it is so difficult to get off. I know I need to eat healthier and increase my exercise. Now that fall is almost here and the temps are lowering I am hoping to get back to riding the exercise bike on the days that I do not go to water aerobics. I hope that we all are successful in losing our re-gain. No one said life after RNY was going to be easy but with work we can all be successful!

Good luck ladies!

Hi my name is Mandy! I had Gastric Bypass March 12, 2010. I am 5'1" and weighed 225. Now my weight is between 120-125. I am comfortable with it but wouldn't mind being more 115-120. I have been going through a nasty custody battle and divorce for a year now. It has had a big impact on me having a hard time eating. I have actually found my weight drops slightly if I eat more and of course the right foods. I still say this has been the best decision I have ever made for myself. Just wanted to introduce myself. Have a great day!

Mandy

Welcome to the team,
You did it before and you will do it again now! Go back to the basics you learned just after surgery. Eat according to your plan, Watch your portions, Drink your water, Log your food exercise and moods, and most important exercise most days. You will then be back on track.

Do not give up. You will need to work but the success you achieve will be worth it!

Glad you found us!

Hi Everyone,
In the interest of members old and new... let's shout out those of us who are still active. Better yet, awaken from your slumber and join me in reawakening your spirit.

The best way for Spark to work for each person is to be active and supportive of others. And in turn, we will receive the support we need from eachother as well.

Please join me in shouting out that you are still here.

Post Goals, ask questions, follow eachother's blogs, give gifts, log minutes, eat right, be accountable... succeed, cry, lean, learn, be!!!

I'm still here. I'm still trying. I'm still believing that I can do this and you can too!

Best,
~Linda
