This time of the year my favorite gadget is the windshield. After a ride I look at it and gross out, all those splatted bugs. If not for that windshield .....

Well now it must the trickle charger for the battery. The motors are quite silent right now but we want the batteries to be ready if called upon.

So the trickle charger is right now my favorite MC gadget!

Oh well, since the last post, I ran into someone with one of the back rests and I saw
how it operates on a fold down principle.................YAY.............
..

My new favorite gadget is the motorcycle helmet to helmet speaker system.

Ours are good for just over a mile apart, always supposing we remember to charge them.
lol
They also are very clear with little wind noise....

Good morning, Darlene! I have a 29 inch inseam. Short legs for a long body.Yes, the backrest does fold down. This does help some people to get on putting their leg up and over it to get into the saddle. I mount the bike by lifting my leg onto the seat and sliding into the riding position. I do not have full range of motion for my left leg with this new knee I had installed three years ago.

For a long time now I have had a back rest and I have finally convinced my wife to get one and she likes it (I think). I have taken a loaner from Harley-Davidson when my bike is getting serviced and the one I get has no back rest. I cannot ride too long and it effects my posture while rideing - so I do not ride the loaner very far.

That sort of arrangement sounds sweet but is not available on the Ultra. I don't think I couild ever ride without a windshield again. A few years back I took a demo bike out that had no windshield and I was wearing my touring helmet and the wind wanted to take the helmet off my head . The visor was being grabbed by the wind and trying to pull it off me.

PLANAR, I went back to read your earlier post on this forum when you spoke of the backrest. I find that the backrest is what makes riding the long ride possible. Once I got it installed and using it and getting use to it - I would not like to ride without it. It really helps with a great sitting posture for the ride and the ride does not become fatigue problem.

I have not been able to visit your SPARKPAGE as yet.

Thank you sir! I was here back in 2007 and fell off the program, back for good now.

I love riding motorcycles. Current ride is a 2005 Road King Classic and my fiance rides a 2005 SuperGlide Custom. She is a new rider last year, looking to extend our ride distance together this year.

Just be careful - that can be a little distraction. And I thought only the Goldwings had those cup holders. We keep our water in a bag attached to the rear engine guard and drink water at each stop.

My favorite? I have to pick one???

I'd have to say my cb. It makes it easier for me and the hubby to communicate. We group ride a LOT so it's easy to communicate, give directions, warn about road obstructions.... We have hand signals for all that too, but it's just easier this way. You also can plug a gps or mp3 player into it and listen to music without annoying everyone around you with it.

One thing I'm looking for though is a cup holder. The ones at the dealership are cheap plastic. So, anyone have a really nice one that they would recommend?

Good morning, Team and good morning, BOJO70! I do not have a radar detector but the Garmin Zumo GPS has a display on it that indicates the legal MPH wherever you are and changes in color when you exceed it. And if you heed that warning that will keep you out of trouble too. My wife needs these warnings more than I do - she is the fast one with a mission. When she leads it always becomes a new adventure.

Good morning team! I am easing into posting and trying to get caught up on the threads.

My favorite accessory on the hub's bike would have to be the radar detector. It's top of the line and has saved his hiney a number of times. He's younger than me by 4 years and thinks he's immortal, but that's another story...

On my hugger, I don't have any accessories. I like it stripped and it's just me and the bike. I don't even have a pouch for my reg/ins card, just carry 'em in my pocket.

Good evening RE....

And yes, I have back problems. I have had broken bones in my lower back after getting
kicked years ago....so husband said we would look into the back rest as soon as we get
ahead a little bit.

I wrote on the other page that we went riding today. It was sunny and 69....so we had about
70 miles of a sweet ride. Tomorrow we will likely ride after church...the temp. is supposed
to be up to 81.

Then Monday and Tuesday severe weather and rain probably...so this is going to mean a
couple nights with little to no sleep. I dont deal with storms well.

Good morning, D_ANNE. Have you tried out a seat with a back rest? I don't know if you have any back problems but with a back rest it puts you into an excellent posture position and that really helps keep away the fatigure during a long ride. Put it high on your wish list for that better ride.

I would LOVE to have the CB radio set up for my hubby and I. I usually take lead and would love to have his input on things when we go on longer rides ... something to think about!

Funny you should say that RE.....I have been wanting one that folds down so I can
hop on, then raise it to lean on. I would think anyone with a bad back would appreciate
a back rest....

Good evening, Team. It is after 9:30 p.m. and most of you are tucked in by now after the long hard ride you had. But I was thinking about another gadget on my bike that I really like and that is my back rest. I finally convinced my wife that she might like a back rest - she had one installed and I think she likes it. It really helps you keep a good posture while riding on those long trips. You may like it if you give it a try. If you enjoy the long tour you could really appreciate a back rest.

Good afternoon, Team members. My wife and I both now have Garmin Zumo GPSs installed on our Harley-Davidsons. Mine is installed on the dash of the fairing and hers is installed on the handlebar. We should never get lost now but I suppose that will take some of the adventure out of motorcycle touring.

How does the CB radio work? The bike is wired for receiving and sending Citizen Band radio waves and the rider or riders have a helmet set up to receive and send verbal messages with a push to talk button the the left handlebar. The volume can be controlled to allow good hearing of messages on the radio and with the system we have set up the AM/FM radio mutes during transmission. The radio waves will transmit up to two miles in good conditions but between one and two miles can be a problem if you are riding in hilly country.

Our favorite motorcycle gadget is the CB radio. We can communicate with ease with the built in CB radio system. We do not usually get out of range from each other but it can happen. We do use the CB quite often while touring.

I know this is not exactly a gadget but, I would even think of riding without my buffalo hide seat cover. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Have a piece on my back rest also and love not having that sweat spot in the middle of my back.

Good morning, all. We now have a Garmin Zumo for my wife's bike as well as mine. I guess that will mean that we will never get lost. But we do not ride at this time of year in our neck of the woods. Pretty cool this morning at 20 degrees F and the forecast of snow flurries.

I'm going to have to look into one of those Little Rider belts for my husband to use so that my granddaughter can ride. I have a solo seat - no passengers for me - but she could definitely ride with him...especially once he gets his Road King triked.

I just thought of it, my pipes, screaming eagles, sounds great....
