Hi, it's Judi again. I am so happy today. I reached my goal weight. Have lost a total of 143 pounds (11 on Sparkpeople). Now I have to maintain that weight ON A BUDGET. But, I managed to lose it on a budget, so hopefully maintaining will be OK. Hope y'all have a great afternoon. emoticon emoticon

emoticon well this is the 4th day of being at or below my goal weight. My DD took me shopping Wednesday and found me some new under things and sporty outfit as well s a white dress. I feel very awkward in this new clothes because I'm fifty and these clothes seem to be for a teenager, but I'm trying to wear them around the house and out sometimes. I had one new outfit on Thursday and a nice lady was commenting on the weight I had lost in front of a room of people (she was talking to me across this fellowship hall). I felt so embarrassed that I just put my index finger to my lips and went shhhhhh. I hope I didn't make her feel bad. I was just so embarrassed. I don't like to be noticed, and I'm being called out now .... What do I do? This is really tough for me. I feel glad I have lost weight, but I also want to hide at the same time. Any advise would be appreciated. Sincerely, Julia

We are now adjusting our budged. With so many medical expenses i'm cutting out my cellphone & the newspaper.
We ran low on food, had to eat only frozen veggies I coked on the stove. Keeping 14 yr old daughter's weight up to 100 lbs as best I can without giving her gluten or sugar that affects her joints and muscles.
Found some really old, almost freezer burnt turkey and made that today. We are eating 2 meals a day until payday.

Julia that type of blog sounds interesting. I like the idea of putting the cost for what you made to show how cheap it actually was to make that meal emoticon

I am still working out where the best prices are around me for food, especially healthy food. I have had a busy couple days so had to put my research on hold for a bit but will spend some time today and tomorrow researching simple, cheaper healthy recipes.

Went to retina specialist. It is age related. No retina tearing. The sac of gel drying out in my retina, bits & pieces pulling away from the wall, and are floating. I go back in three weeks.

Oh, I so hope the doctor visit today is productive and you can get your vision well again. I didn't know your daughter has fibromyalgia. So young. I know staying away from sugar as well as artificial sweetener has helped me. I do use Stevia once in a while. Even thou it is an herb, I buy mine and done understand the packaging contents. I hope my Stevia plant from last year returns, then I will dry those leafs and grind them up. Great fiber too.

I had a new floater in my eye yesterday. It's a big spidery one, making things blurry in areas. Then today I see millions & millions of tiny black dots everywhere. When I look up, sky is filled with dots. (I only have one eye and one hand, they are on my right)

I think I will try to ask that question on a message board. Or maybe the answer would be that's what the range is for. I seem to have a lot of extra skin. When my arms are stretching out it looks like I have wings emoticon . Not a pretty visual. That much weigh something.

Ordered new eyeglasses, full price $530 for transition, high index lenses and more.. my price w/ insurance only $62.
I'm 5'1" tall wearing size medium misses petite clothes. My BMI is still in overweight range. My friends & family said that I look like I don't need to lose anymore weight. I'm not sure what I'll do.

That's wonderful Susan. I recent got to the eye doctor. My old glasses were only correcting me to 20/50 in left eye and 20/100 in right. I am so happy to have new glasses emoticon

Aww Julia, I'm so glad you getting better. Being sick is no fun. I don't know you can even keep up with the house. My house would be a disaster. My daughter would probably help a little. One thing she loves is my home cooking, better than fast food.

Oh....My tail bone area is finally feeling better.

We are getting an extra $400 in my husband's paycheck but it's going fast. We are both over 50 now so going to sign up for AARP and our puppy is going to the vet to get neutered. Dr. Appts $45 co-pay, $50 dentist co-pay, optometrist with new eyeglasses for me w/ transitions lenses. So many things to take care of that I may not be able to get my new skates until later. That's okay, i'm just very glad to be able to get things taken care of.

I'm finally starting to feel better after flu and bronchitis caught up with me. School was cancelled today due to weather forecast. Storm hasn't hit yet. Susie I hope you can get skates soon. Sounds so fun.
I don't know your name, but I'm glad that you started the huddle challenge and food sale thread. I've been working on using food in house. So much gets lost in food closet. My daughter always wants to go out and gets mad when I say know.I work hard to feed them good food at home. One day they may understand you can't have everything.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sore since I fell on my behind at the rink. Taking a longer break from rollerskating than I planned. The rental shoes fit so differently every time I go, so I'm saving money for some skates of my own.

Aww poor girl, prayers for her going out.
Was payday today, I bought 6 lbs chicken breasts and 4 lbs ground turkey. Also bought unsweetened chocolate to make sugar-free goodies for my daughter. I get produce from a food bank next Tuesday.

Our budget has been tight. We've been eating chicken tacos and chicken w/ vegetables a lot lately. I'm thawing 2 turkey legs I got from a food bank. Last night I cooked 3 turkey meat balls in a frying pan and added green beans. Simple but was satisfying.

Well it's amazing how long leftovers last when I'm the only one eating them. I made a soup for breakfast again today. I have about 4 oz of pork leftover from Sunday supper and I finished off the rice I had made.
I had some celery and carrotts to put in the soup today with 3 mini peppers (good Vit C source).
I still had some hot sauce and fresh rosemary and thyme from my indoor herb plants. It's piping hot and hits the spot.
I take one of my DD to doctor today to see if she has an infection in ears and sinus. She seems to have more than just the flu.
Well, I'm trying my best to stay healthy amongst the germs. This lifestyle of eating properly is helping me stay positive and hopeful.

Soup is just working for me. I was able to used the leftover 1 cup Great Northern beans, 8 oz pork loin and 1 cup harvest rice with a couple of cups of chicken broth. After I had it all made I thought I could easily spilt this into two meals so I tracked it and spliting it into two (2) meals made the numbers workout close to my meal nutrition needs. I put a lot of hot sauce in it and some Vegan Bacon Salt which is not salt nor meat based. It was wonderful and I look forward to having some tomorrow. The protein was so high that I will wait till tomorrow to have the rest since I don't need too much more protein for the day.
Soup on a cold day hits the spot and the hot sauce will hopefully keep me healthy.
Hopefully someone in my household will feel well enough to take me to the store sometime this week. I just need to clean out my pantry more. I do miss having fresh fruits and veggies at the ready. It will all workout :-)

Well I visited my DD this weekend. I brought my soup and some meat, rice and dry navy beans for her. I ate the soup but she was happy for me to leave the rest for her. She is a wonderful baker and cook. I loved seeing her this weekend. I'm very proud of her. She is young and learning how it is the have bills higher than income. I hope the meat, rice and beans I left helps her.

It's so great to accomplished so much yesterday and have a positive outlook. Meat and veggies sound to be working on multiple levels. I'm glad you have enough :-)
The soup turned out amazing. I ended up putting 20 chili peppers in. The whole batch is 20 servings of just under 6 oz per serving. I eat 12 oz with 1 cup brown rice and had a wonderful complete meal. So spicy :-)

I went through my freezer today & re-organized, yay! I've been actually eating pretty good, mostly meat & veggies. Only $1.29 left in bank account.. yikes! I need to be more careful on my budget. We definately have enough food to eat until payday, so no worries there. I exercised today believe it or not, but now I'm tired, lol. I will not give up for sure!

Using left over juice.
Well my Mom & Brother have been here and left already. Quick passing by visit. It was nice. They wanted to take my family out for dinner, but as they arrived at our home around 7 last night after 11 hours of driving they were happy to see I had made a roast, cheesy potatoes, roasted carrots, rice and gravy. I also had made Navy beans but figured all (except me) would pass on the beans.
So, I filled up on a portion of beans and brown rice with a couple oz of beef. I enjoyed the carrots as well as 1/4 cup portion of my homemade gravy.
I was so happy to be at home and my guest were happy to have Supper already to sit down to.
I had just under 5 oz of meat I was able to pick off bone and "de-fat" after I cooked the bones overnite.
Now I have the juice in freezer so I can skim off any extra fat.
I thought I would make some kind of soup from dried mushrooms I had in pantry, some great northern beans, the salvaged meat and broth. I'm thinking on adding some onion and I'm not sure if I need anything else. The sweet potatoes look like they could be eaten soon, by I might just keep them on the side.
Well, I hope I made you all hungry emoticon
I think this soup will be a nutritious and cost effective meal over the course the this week and next.
I'll post what my opinion is. Oooo, I think I'll throw in a few hot chili peppers for some heat .... it's cold outside.

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone has a terrific weekend. I'm hoping I go thru the refrigerator and freezer today and make sure I appropriate use all the food close to expiration. I just opened a "fresh" bag of spinach today that wasn't so "fresh". I cooked some in eggs this morning and will need to use the rest today somehow in a healthy way. If I don't, it would have been a very expensive bag of spinach. Well, that's one way to save, is to use all what I buy. Somethings just can't be helped like that cracked egg still in the carton that needed to be thrown away. Well, that's my goal today, to sort out what I already have and use it. No grocery store for me today :-).

Tuesday today, my day I go to the food bank. Wow I got a lot today. Ate poorly though. Was nauseated. No breakfast. Ate a couple cheese sticks. Then suddenly starving and ate 2 individual bags of Wheat Thins Chips, a big piece of homemade fudge (friend gave me) and some tortilla chips. Can't believe I did that!
Will get back on track for sure!

Hi everyone.
Happy Tuesday.
I don't really have anything to type about today. It feels like a slow day. I'm trying for the first time homemade "Thyme" tea. I had picked up a herb plant before Christmas at Walmart. I decided to take some leaves and stems from plant and brew a cup of tea. I have no idea the "right" way to do this, so I just put a bunch in hot water and left for 10+ minutes. I'm enjoying a cup now. My body feels so fatigued today so hope this tea as well as a proteined packed (greek yogurt) breakfast helps.

Happy Monday everyone.
Well I had the second half of those blackberries this morning. Still very good. Actually I had divided the yogurt and berries on Saturday when I bought them, so Sunday morning and today they were already mixed together ready to enjoy.
For lunch I finished the Ham and bean soup I had made last week. I eat 2 helpings today. I'm still hungry, but I feel I am eating healthy, filling foods.

Good morning. Had some yummy fresh blackberries today. I eat 3 oz and have 3 oz for later. The 6 oz container was on special for 69 cents. It was a real treat to eat fresh berries in January. Hope home school lessons (pun) intended went well. I so respect people able to accomplish. I have a friend that has recently seen the 1st of four gain her GED. My friend has formal training in teaching, so she has put it to great use. My ?DH?, does that stand for husband, took me to Aldi's today. Great produce at great prices. Huge grapefruit for 25 cents each and 4 pound bag of navel oranges for $1.29. I also got a "Tai Chi" book with DVD for $3.99. I have had several professionals suggest I try Tai Chi, so I thought this was an excellent price. If I borrowed from library I would have raked up fines ... Lol :-). Saturday is here! Thanks for reply Julia! Wow I was so cold yesterday. It was 68f in the house, I had a coat on, jeans, socks & sneakers and still freezing. Even my hand and nose wee cold. Fell asleep at 8:30 and woke up at 5:30. Feeling great today and hungry because I skipped dinner.
I'm having company today. Going to show someone the ropes of homeschooling.
