Thanks, ASHARON Okay, I'm holding you to that February plan. Would you be willing to give progress reports? I will if you will. After all, we started together; let's graduate together. Hmm, I guess we'll never really graduate from choosing healthy habits, but, on the other hand, we don't want to flunk out together, either.

Cheers and keep those streaks going.

Way to go! That is great. I have been up and down like a yo-yo for the last couple of months. But I have my plan for Feb and I am sticking to it.

Hi ASHARON,

Thanks for the encouragement on my blog, and congratulations on those 2 miles outside. You'll be ready for the 5K, no question.

Yes, I'm still here and am 1.6 lbs. from my goal. Pretty cool. The time has gone by quickly, but I can't even imagine now living without exercise and healthy food choices. Every day is a joy. All the "fat" clothes have been shipped off to Goodwill, and I'm not looking back.

Best to you and all the others still hanging in from the Class of August 24-30, 2008.

Hello, Classmates,

I'm just checking in to see how many of my fellow August 2008 friends are still here. I am 5.4 lbs. from goal, but it's sloowww going. The losses are now measuring in 10ths of a pound per week. Patience is a virtue, but my virtue is getting impatient. So close.

I will reply with a weight on Sunday or Monday morning before surgery. I broke into the 160's, 2 weeks ago (or maybe it was last week, I don't remember). I'll post my pre-surgery weight just before the surgery. I expect I'll come back here in a few months needing to re-lose some pounds, but I'll be ready for it!!

My scale is lost, at first I was unhappy about that but when I realized I could do nothing about it until my roommate returned from her holiday. So I just plugged along knowing I was making great food choices and doing the nutrition tracker daily.

This past week I had a doctors appointment and a scale I could get up on and surprise I have lost six pounds. That was so exciting. So maybe having a scale yelling at me every day is not such a good thing.

Hope all of your weigh ins are as kind. yolanda

I lost 1.2 lbs. this week and am 7.2 from my goal. June 30 was my 1-year anniversary since starting weight loss. I'm hoping, because it has come off so slowly, it will stay off. I know I have to do more than hope. I wish I had found SP sooner, but at least I'm here and hanging in.

I bought a Bodybugg 3 weeks ago, and I think it helps me keep in check. At any moment of the day, I can look at how many calories I've burned since midnight, and I make sure my input stays less than output all day long. I also discovered I burn way more calories than I ever thought. I hope that once I reach goal, it will continue to help me maintain.

I've started over again, with better intentions and follow-thru. 1st week was good. 2nd week-got sidelined by something I picked up from my son-everrything goes to my chest-my weak spot and I have to baby myself thru recovery. So exercise has gone by the wayside. And though I've been keeping track, I've had a couple of difficult days. Illness means comfort food to me. But on a good note, I knew what I was doing, did it consciously and don't feel the guilt and regret I normally do. This too will pass and I'll get back on track again. Need to work on healthier comfort food though, today I'm going to make myself some vegetable soup.

It occured to me yesterday that it is closing into a year and I have lost two pounds. Gosh that is kind of discouraging until I acknowledge that my journey of food now includes better choices, enjoying more of the actual taste of food, and not taking food for granted. I am sure that is part of this journey that will prove to be important in the long run.

We all just need to keep plugging along and you are right a little step at a time.

This is an ugly week in that I have six meals out in five days. All are obligatory. Of course, I will try to make the best choices, but not having control over ingredients in the preparation can mean hidden fat and sodium. Yikes.

I haven't weighed in for a while... I'm actually wondering what the scale will say when I do. My last weigh in was back in March... around the 21st I think, and I was 157 lbs. Then I didn't make it to the gym the next weekend, and THEN last Thursday I came down with the flu and it's hung on for a while... I haven't worked out since last Wednesday... but lack of eating well (if anything) and the illness, I'm hoping to at least stick around the 157 lbs mark... hoping I haven't somehow gained. It's been a miserable week, and I really want to get exercising again but still not feeling quite up to it. Maybe this weekend.

I actually did break into the 170's, but that was unofficial - I weighed myself in the evening, after 2 hours of sweating at the gym. 179.5. But then I went and drank all the liquids I should have been drinking at the gym (which was about 3 pounds worth of water) and my weight this morning was still hanging in there at 180.5.

The scale was nice to me this week.... 154.4 (lost 1.8 pounds).

I reset my tracker, and planning on climbing down from 150 at some point. I'm aiming for consistency...slow and easy small steps, and I'll get there. I also want to get back to doing ST on a regular basis. Toning thus muscles before the summer wardrobe comes out.

Another deep breath Katie. It was one week. The best words you used in your post were "DISGUSTING" and "YUCK", because you know it wasn't how it should be. If you had just let it slip by, then I'd worry. But since you're annoyed about it, I know you'll bounce back.

Remember that weight loss is rarely a straight-line, continual event. Even the most consistent of healthy eaters, gym rats, etc... are going to hit the occassional plateau or have a bad week (intentionally or not).

So I'm glad you're angry at yourself. Because it means you're going to do something about it!!

Hang in there and make this week a better week than last week. The inches will disappear again, and the scale will probably show a number you're looking forward to seeing.

Well I'm disgusted with myself.. so much so that I refused to even weigh in this weekend.

I didn't get to the gym this weekend at all... so there's one reason that I didn't weigh in (my scale is at the gym)

From last Sunday to yesterday, I only worked out 60 minutes Monday and 30 on Tuesday. TOTAL. I missed Wednesday right thru to Saturday. DISGUSTING!

I don't have a weight to enter this week.. but I gained 3.5 inches this week. YUCK!

Ironically, Katie, that's my goal too. I'm going to have to hunker down to meet it. I probably need to increase my fitness. I was having more weight loss success getting 60 minutes on the treadmill, but my schedule has only allowed for 30 mins.

I'd take the 1.5 pounds, but it didn't happen for me this week. I'm loading up on veggies this weekend, and preparing for my weigh-in on Wednesday. I'm hoping to get the scale to cooperate a bit.

Considering TOM is due this weekend, I'm pretty happy with my progress. I maintained my weight this week, no loss but no gain either. I gained 2 inches this week, most likely water retention.

Congrats to all the losers!!!!! It's all so wonderful to see you making such great progress.

I am still hovering around the 190 mark. I REALLY want to get into the 180s... and have been on a plateau since the end of January. It's starting to get a little frustrating, but I have no choice but to stick to it.. I have come so far and that is very important to me.

Losing weight is the my main focus right now.... I hope to see some progress on next week's weigh-in.

Until next week!

As I suspected ... no change this week. Which for me is just fine. 180.5. Not into the 170s yet like I'd hoped. But a hell of a lot better than 316!! (which is where this all began :-)

Welcome to size 10 Cahibo! 2.4 lbs is awesome!!!

I went shopping today and got a new pair of jeans, 1 inch smaller in the waist than the last pair I bought. And I got my tax refund, so tomorrow I'm headed to Best Buy, getting a Wii, and My Personal Trainer!!! Skipping the Wii Fit for now, going to see how I like Personal Trainer, I've heard it's better for fitness than the Wii Fit is.. plus no worrying about the toddler playing with the Fit balance board.

And yes, I had a net of 3 inches lost this week emoticon would have been more, but had a 1/2 inch gain on my hips apparently, so had to deduct that from my losses.

March 7 2009:
Weight - 158.5 lbs (1.25 lb loss this week)
Waist - 30 inches (1 inch loss this week)
Belly - 37 inches (.5 inch loss this week)
Hips - 42.5 inches (.5 inch gain this week)
Thigh - 23 inches (1 inch loss this week)
Chest - 36 inches (1 inch loss this week)

Katie - 3" lost...Holly Toledo!!! What a great week you had.

To my suprise, I dropped 2.4 lbs this week. I finally went shopping for some new workpants today. I'm tired of safety pinning the waist bands on my size 14's. Didn't believe it until I tried on pants at three different stores. I've dropped to a size 10!! Woopee!!

Excellent Katie!! And not to worry about anyone else posting. I "officially" weigh in on Sundays though, so I will post something tomorrow.

See? I told you the bad week was just what I said it was - a blip. Back on track and doing great - you said you were going to get back this week and you did!! So emoticon and emoticon !!

Alan

Btw... unofficially, I am still at 180.5. Almost ready to cross into the 170s.

emoticon I feel lonely.. nobody weighing in this week with me? emoticon

After a bad time the week before (4 days without exercise, 1.5 lb gain and 1.5 inch gain) I did my best to watch what I eat and get my exercise in this week, and it paid off. emoticon

1.25 lbs down and 3 inches lost this week! emoticon

No weigh in til Saturday... but today I have a "small" achievement. I am wearing the final of 3 pair of dress/work pants that I was striving to fit back into... and no crotch lines! I can wear all 3 of them, comfortabley, all day at work! Finally some variety (they are all slightly different style, and different colors... brown, black pinstripe, and tan)

I think I need to go out and buy a new pair of jeans to celebrate... even though the ones I have still fit.

Jnnsalas, you are alive! I thought you got buried in the snow somewhere, haven't seen you around!

Congrats on losing in the last month! 2.4 lbs is still a loss!

Thanks Alan! I needed that! And since the cake is gone, it's not there tempting me to eat it *before it goes stale*

Ok this week's plan: 30 min cardio EVERY day, cook supper at home at least 5 days this week, pack lunch for work every day.. NO FOOD COURT FOOD!

Hi Katie!! It was just one week, you've acknowledged it and you've planned your attack for this coming week. So don't be too frustrated. "Frustrating" would be if you didn't enjoy any of the food outings you had - then you wouldn't have had anything good come out of the week. But I'm assuming that the suppers out were tasty, that your chocolate cake was delicious, and unless the popcorn was slathered in butter - that's not going to be the end of the world.

So at least while you're kicking it up this week, think back that last week was not a bad week ... just a single, enjoyable-nonetheless, week where you didn't get to where you ultimately wanted to be. The goal is still there. And your drive is there. So you'll get there.

As for me, I lost 1/2 pound. I'm going to be 50, 28 days from today. I decided that I want to get down to 179 by my birthday, even though there's no medical need to do it. I've reached every health and fitness goal I've wanted to already, but, according to the "published" BMI charts, I'm still "overweight" (even though my body fat percent is 13.3 percent, so I know I'm not). So ... as a birthday goal - just so don't have to quibble with anyone who might say "according to the BMI charts you are overweight", I am going to get down to 179.

Then the only goals I'll have left are to keep winning this team's challenges :-) :-)

Enjoy the week everyone and good luck to everyone in the challenge!!

Ok... frustrated! I thought i was going to reach my 20 lb milestone this week... but I really did horribly nutrition-wise. We ate supper out a few times, and I also made a chocolate cake last weekend so we were eating that this week. Not to mention at work we had a head-office lady in, that LOVED movie popcorn and I ended up eating that when I shouldn't have.
Instead of losing and reaching my 20 lbs lost milestone... I GAINED 1.5 lbs this week! emoticon

Gonna kick it up a notch this week, and make it a point to go the gym EVERY day this week. No excuses!

No weigh in until Saturday for me... but I did buy myself an early reward... since I'm *this* close to reaching the 20 lb milestone.
I was supposed to buy my dumbbells as my 10 lb reward back in November, but took months to find cheap ones that I liked.. so this time I got my reward a little early. I bought a nice workout outfit... pants & a zip-up jacket. Will be PERFECT for running my 5k (which I signed up for today!! it's at the end of May)

Confession: I couldn't control myself today either. I had the bad case of the munchies. French fries... brownie... girl scout cookie... a mini Reese's cup. No cardio. No fitness.

I must have gotten today (ASH WEDNESDAY) mixed up with FAT TUESDAY!!!

Katie - It didn't happen girl. (The scale didn't budge.) I'm still drafting you this week, but watch out. I'm ready to make my move, so don't get lazy on me.

Katie - I'm LOL..... Wondered if you'd noticed, because I did!! I refused to be left behind. I'm posting my weight on Wednesday. You'll have to wait till then.

Alan - Like Katie, I remember last August when you right around 200 and were content once you passed it by.... and you keep dropping... and dropping... and dropping. I'm kinda like you, wonder what I could get down to doing what I'm doing now.

I'm happy with where I'm at, but would love to hit 150... and I'd be ellated, if I saw the 140's. I was 142 in high school. Could it be???? If it happens, it happens. When I hit 157, I'll have lost 30 lbs. That's pretty unbelievable!! Never would have guessed it last August.

I just updated my SparkPage and checked out my old measurements from when we started this.. and I had one of those "if only I could go back and tell my old self...." moments.

I mean, I'm not even TRACKING my food right now (I was SO obsessed with it when we started in August/September that it got in the way of using all the other great things on Spark) and I'm already doing WAY better than I did back then.

Last year, I did good for the first month... lost 6 lbs in the first week, and 3.5 inches throughout August. Then my inches stopped coming off, but I still lost another 7 lbs and 1 inch in September/October. Then I hit the brick wall... and from early November to New Years, I gained back 1 lb and 2.5 inches. OUCH! It hurts to look at those numbers!
For the 4 1/2 months that I was here in 2008, I lost 12 lbs and 2.75 inches (taking into account the loss then the gain)... which is a good start, but not enough!

I'm so happy I realized my potential for 2009! In January alone, I lost 4 lbs and 4.75 inches overall! And I've got a good jump on February too, final totals coming next week! ***stay tuned!***

I'm really just maintaining. Anything under 200 for me is complete success. According to the BMI charts, I'm supposed to be 179 to be "healthy", but my body fat is less than that of the 24.9 BMI associated with the upper limit of "healthy BMI", so as far as I (and my doctors) are concerned, if I never lose another pound, I'm good.

But, that said, I'm really curious as to what I would look like at 179 (or less, although personally I'm pretty sure I'd look too thin). So if I lose, I lose. If I don't, then as long as I don't put on, I'm happy :-)

Woo hoo Alan!
