Joined Spark in 2008, but didn't get serious until 2010. So far, down 70 pounds and 10 inches on my waist. Weird to be so close to goal (another 10-15 pounds). Weight loss is MUCH slower these days even after running 4 miles 4 x week, weight training, eating better, etc., but by meticulously tracking diet on Spark, I'm still progressing.

I'm on a plateau. I'm doing well on over 90% of my eating, exercising, sleeping and water intake etc. Actually closer to 98%, but the late evening indulgences are thowing the caloires out of wack and preventing movement of the scale. So this isn't a weight loss plateau, but a behavioural problem. I need to put some strategies in place for late night cravings. That's where I keep falling down. I know what to do. I'll let you know how it goes. Jo

Okay progress and given the week of PMS related eating pretty good progress. Down nearly 1/2kg. I'm a little disappointed too; but that's unrealistic expectations and wishful thinking on my part. I will officially update my ticker in a few moments. Nearly down to my pre-Christmas weight. Yay!.

I weighed in today: 143.6 Up 0.6 pounds from last week :( Bummer, since I've been working prety hard this week. However, there is always room to improve. I'm happy to be past all the potlucks at work, etc. Now just to make it through Christmas with good choices.

I weighed myself yesterday 84.7kg. At my heaviest I was 104kg. I've lost 20kg or 44lbs. Wow! I'm a little shocked - I've been focused on the daily stuff - getting my spark points, walking, eating. It came as a surprise.

My weight fluctuates, now, between 148 and 150. I feel really good about that. My measurements have not changed for a long time, but I can live with that, I guess. After getting over a bad cold, I'm back to cardio and weight training. I know I wouldn't have come back if I hadn't been on Spark People! Great motivation.

Sticking to the middle of your calorie allotment will work; it did for me. Sometimes I went a little over, in fact; but I was working out consistently at the same time. Now I've lost the 20 pounds I wanted to. I hope to maintain.

The diet plan I'm following says to weigh yourself everyday. I've just started really keeping track of my nutrition and workouts on SP this week. Whereas last week, my weight was all over the place, this week it stayed at 145.2 for 7 days now. I guess that's better than going up! I'm hoping that if I stick to my calories and regular workouts, that the weight will start dropping consistently.
I'm sticking to the middle of my calorie allotment. Is that what's been working for other members?

I agree with JAYELKAY. It gets like that sometimes, especially around TOM. It happens to me just about every time. Like this week, I am SUPER bloated. I feel just like this little man:
Please hang in there. If you are eating right and exercising it will come off. If there continues to be a problem, try tracking your food if you aren't doing so now. You may be consuming too many calories OR not enough. Tracking helps me immensely!
Keep your head up and continue on your journey. It will get better.

I went to a buffet for dinner last night. I knew that was what we were doing, so I had a sandwich, a piece of cheese and two glasses of water before we left to go to the casino. We had dinner 3 hours later, stated with a salad (just a little cheese on it) then proceded to eat pretty healthy. I even had a dessert from the sugar free section and one bite of the chocolate mousse. Not too shabby. I guess I'll know better when I weigh in on Wednesday.

I'm going to check in because it will make me feel better to confess: I've been eating too much since Christmas, even the last few days when I've tracked nutrition. Starting tomorrow, my husband has agreed to go work out with me, which should help. If I can get back on track, I know I'll lose the pounds I have probably already gained. I haven't weighed myself in over a week. We'll see what the scale says! I need motivation!

The holidays were very challenging, and we've been battling sleepless nights with sick kids for going on 3 weeks now. Healthy choices will help the most right now, but I'm having a hard time. One day at a time!

Gained 2.6 lbs thanks to all the holiday goodies and a lack of self-control, but I was willing to allow myself that gain. Now, I'm looking to re-focus and get back on track.

I hope your thyroid meds do better than mine on weight loss. I gained and have to now lose this weight. Of course I am not sure it is the reason or depression caused by my husband's death. Could be. But I do know the only way the weight started dropping off was through exercise. Best of luck. Check out the Thyroid post for information.

Weighed in at the same weight for the 3rd week in a row. Better than a gain. Found out this week I have an underactive thyroid, so am starting taking meds to get the thyroid moving. Hopefully, this will make the weight loss go a little better in 2009.

Congrats to everyone this month. This IS our 6th month of healthy living! We're doing great!
I'm still hanging in there at 150. Hope to maintain that next week. Christmas Eve will be my biggest challenge, when family will be here.

I've been off the wagon the past week or two (I did GREAT on Thanksgiving, but derailed after), but was so happily surprised to see that I've still dropped a couple of pounds. This was great motivation to inspire me to keep going at a pivotal point.

The holiday season has been more challenging than I expected! I did fine at first, but all the visits home and my family visiting here ... it's been too easy to fall back old habits. Let's all support each other during these challenging times. I'm so grateful for this group :)

I guess it's been a long time since I posted. I am at the "maintaining" level, and am very happy that I have stayed at 149 lbs. for the last 3 weeks. My biggest fear is that I will become complacent and start gaining again.

DELORESTHOMAS Congratulations your recent weight loss! That is a really great challenge, too. You should be proud!
I think I've hit a plateau a little bit, again! But moving forward! I try to weigh myself at the beginning of the week, then the end of the week. We'll see what happens!

I haven't been weighing in because the needle never seemed to more. I have lost some recently. I'm a 168 now. I owe it all to another team's challenge to walk every day. I'm up to at least 1 mile daily (with 2 misses) and the weight is moving off again.

Down 1.6 lbs from last week, I'm now at 158. I thought I blew it earlier this week after a popcorn and jujube binge at the movie theatre, but I guess with the running I've been doing my metabolism was able to fight it off.

I am down 2.5lbs this week! I can't believe it usually it takes me a whole month to lose that much. However, I have started eating 6 small meals each day. I just have a hard time with the fat for some reason, I am always just a few grams over each day.

Hi Lindy, are you putting everything you eat in your SparkPeople log? If so, check that you are entering the right portions -- weight and measure your food for a couple of days to see if you've got it right.
That should tell you what's going wrong. From my experience it all comes down to what you eat. Make sure you're within your recommended ranges for sugars and fats especially, and you should see some forward movement.
Good luck!

Daily weigh-in can be discouraging because it depends on how much fluids have been consumed & even whether or not a person has had a BM! It is much better to weigh once each week, preferably 1st thing in the a.m. before fluids can accumulate in the body. I am speaking as a former nurse's aide of 14 yrs. I only weigh myself once each week, usually on Sat. or Sun. when I don't have to rush around getting ready for the day.

Made progress of the minor amount of 0.2 lbs in weight loss this week. That's progress considering I was expecting a gain after indulging in too much Halloween candy. Now I just need to keep the exercise up and the candy out of my mouth!
