If you really love the unhealthy fair food, then I say go ahead and it it. Depriving yourself of the things you love will make you unhappy - what's the point of living if you can't enjoy life?

BUT DON'T OVERDO IT!

What my wife and I do is get the smallest French fries possible and then share it, maybe once a week. If you like fried dough, then go ahead and pig out - just make sure you have a light dinner afterwards (but don't *skip* dinner). And so on.

You are already doing good by thinking ahead. This way you can go ahead and make plans ("I'll have the Italian sausage at the beach today, so make sure I don't have ice cream with the kids"), which helps both in keeping the overall food intake down, and also means you don't have to feel back when you decide to treat yourself.

You can use SparkPeople to keep track of the calories, so you have a rough idea of just how much you're going past your limits. Try to eat a little less the rest of the week, but if you don't, that's okay too.

It's all about balance and eating reasonably in general, not about avoiding certain foods or setting strict limits.

Good luck!!!

I would eat a healthy salad with chicken before I went. Take a bottle of water along and try and find something healthy while your there.
Corn on the cob
cut up apple
fresh fruit
salad
If you find that you can't resist something unhealthy
then do share it with your family or friends.

Have a great time!! emoticon

Definitely eat before you go and try to bring some easy to eat snacks. That will help you keep from overeating. Then, to keep you from feeling deprived, pick your favorite food and have it. If it makes sense, share with someone. That way, you get the taste, but not all of the calories.

The fair/festivals have always been bad for me. I use them as an excuse to eat!

Good luck!

The choices you make today will determine the path that your life will take.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Ok so its great that its festival time in my area, it means summer is just around the corner. I am freaking out tho cuz we are going to one 2moro and well when we get there 2moro it will be time for me to eat. I am in desperate need of some semi healthy fair food options. I think last year it had ( i know this has gotta be super bad for me) italian sausage w/ peppers and onions, soba noodles (I am thinking this is my best option since everything else is deep fried and covered in sugar)and of course the fried dough and french fries n stuff. IDK what to do maybe I can figure out a way to bring some food with me but if not I was just wondering if you kind people could give me a few tips. It'd be greatly appreciated
