ACRUMMY had a blog on 8/6 that explains what is happening to most of us. Give it a read.

I agree with ECO_GIRL. I am studying to be a physical fitness trainer, and she is right on the money. I am also a member of Curves and have gone through the same thing. I am now to the point where I am finally losing a few pounds.emoticon Be strong and don't give up. I know you can do it!emoticon

Don't flip out about gaining. I broke my rule and weighed myself this morning because I've upped my cardio and strength workouts A LOT and found that I gained a pound. I've been sticking to Spark too and you can tell a difference in how much slimmer my body looks. All it is, is that muscle weighs more than fat, so you are losing fat and replacing it with muscle. You may actually gain a couple more lbs of muscle before losing the weight, because what will happen is that after you gain that little bit of muscle from working out and getting stronger--muscle starts to burn more fat than just exercise! Now isn't that cool, sadly it doesn't happen until you consistently exercise, but at least there is no cause for alarm. It's cause for celebration because you are probably losing inches off your body instead of seeing results on the scale, looking better, and getting stronger. Yay!

I went to Curves for a year and I did notice that my clothes were fitting better, but I wasn't seeing any weight loss. I may have lost 2 pounds over the course of the year. Some people have told me that I probably gained muscle.

So, it was a difficult decision to come to, but I decided to quit Curves. My intention was to join this gym closer to my home. I haven't joined the gym yet because my fiancé, who is also overweight, wants to see what the work out facilities at my apartment complex are like. The gym that I want to join has a discount if couples join. The other factor is I could possibly get more of a discount for the gym from globalfit.com, but we are not married yet and we are not living together so we would not be able to get the discount yet.

Here is my problem. I have notice that I've gained 2 pounds and I'm really trying not to freak out. I am getting married on August 9th. I have been using Sparkpeople faithfully from tracking calories, water, and fitness. I have been exercising. I have been doing the strength training exercises from Sparkpeople and I have also been doing some pilates type videos that I bought.

So should I be freaking out about gaining weight or is it that I'm gaining muscle?

Thanks for listening/reading
