So far I'm keeping up with my wogging, kickboxing, and ball workout--this will be week 3 still going with the exercise part.

I have enjoyed walking this summer. I have to walk either after 7 pm or around 7 am (it's hard to get my walking partner to go at all then). Otherwise, between the heat and humidity, it's a nightmare. There's nothing like being covered in sweat and feeling like you could wring out your lungs.

But, the walks have been so relaxing and nice. I just don't know how I will be able to keep it up once the school year starts because I am walking during my kids' usual evening routine. I have still got to figure that one out. But, I could walk after school once the temperature drops around October.

I forced myself to keep biking even tho I wanted to stop. I felt better for it after that I stuck it out. This evening I did lovely stretching with my yoga video for half an hour. I always feel great after I do the first thirty mins of this video.

I have to walk/run today and hope it doesn't hurt my achilles. I slept in and didn't go on a morning row. Some kids were crank calling us all night so no sleep. Who crank calls anymore and why did my phone service allow a private call when its supposed to be blocked. Anyway it should still be a great weekend. Have fun everyone.

Congrats on lining up a 5K for yourself. Yay! I never ever thought about racing marathons until I started that "Spark your way to a 5K" training program just to get fit. Now, I'm actually training for them. We don't have many events here in KY, so I joined a new Spark Team called Virtual Racing. They hold races at least once a month and other challenges for all fitness levels; A 1 mile, 5K, 10K, 16K. Longer term challenges exist for "wogging across america". I love it, and it gave me that extra cardio motivation I needed because I am a slightly competitive person and haven't competed in anything for years. So now I do my ball workout 3 days a week, I wog 6 days a week, and kickbox 2 days a week. Looks like I got over my exercise hurdle.

Great job, everyone! I also am getting up earlier to get the work out in in the morning.. won't do it once it hits 100 degrees here in Tucson! I am going to do a 5K on Oct. 18th.. so I have started an interval program on the treadmill.. LONG LIVE THE WOG! hee hee. Seems to be working Ok! My local team has "fitness challenges" We were all shooting for 350 minutes a week.. I made it yesterday! Of course, in the summer when I am not teaching it is a lot easier to get to the gym! Developing a plan for the school year is my priority! Have a great weekend, everyone!

I force myself to get up an extra 45 minutes early during the week so I can get my cardio in (glider & jump rope). I usually save my strength training for the evenings - I also do additional cardio in the evenings as well.

To keep myself motivated, I committed to walking in a mini-marathon. Our church was getting get a group together to do it as a way to fund raise for an organization our church supports. I did not have any idea what i was doing, and I hated to exercise. But, I am determined to not let myself or my family and friends that are supporting me down. I went online and found a training schedule that I could follow. I walk 5 days a week and when I get home, I do my strength training. i like having a schedule set-up for me. I dont have to think about it, I just do it.

I kind of made up a silly program for myself for exercising. I have all 10 seasons of Stargate-1. That's over 20 episodes per season. I am trying to at least every other day watch an episode and ride my exercise bike. That's 45 mins of entertainment and exercise. By the time I get through that last season with so many episodes, I should see a new me! Along with that I have been taking walks with my family. After the walks and exercise bike seems like a habit, I plan on adding some DVDs I have stacked in a dusty pile by the television. I want to change bad habits and replace them with healthier more active habits, but I don't want to overwhelm the process and burn out so I am taking baby steps.

Healthy living is a process of learning!

You probably did lose weight, but you also developed muscle which weighs more. The way your clothes fit is a good way to judge weight loss. sometimes its even more accurate than the scales, especially if your working out.

This summer (actually only the past few days) I have been walking the mall for an hour at lunch and then doing the 3mile challenge with Leslie Sansone when I get home from work. I don't have any illusions that this will continue in the fall when my kids go back to school and programs. I will have to figure that one out. But I am determined to get and stay fit.

I was going to Curves 3 days a week. I stopped at Curves on my way home from work. This kind of forced me to workout. Plus, Curves has Curves cash which if you worked out 12 time a month you could get $5.00 Curves cash which could then be used to purchase a T-Shirt, gym bag, etc.

I decided to stop going to Curves because after a year I hadn't lost any real major weight. Don't get me wrong, I noticed that I toned up and my clothes were feeling loose but weight-wise I had only lost 2 pounds.

Currently, I have several DVD's (many of them from the dollar store) that I am using to work out. I don't see this lasting once I got back to work (I'm a teacher.) So I'm probably going to join a local gym. But I think that I may keep the Curves cash idea going. Work out 12 times a month and I get $5.00 to spend/save for something that I want.

I love using the stationary bike when I go to the gym but I also love to play tennis and kayak when the weather allows me to be outside.

I do all my exercising first thing in the morning. It hasn't gotten too hot and I don't get busy doing something else. I do half an hour on my elliptical on a program that burns 400 cal in 30 minutes. I do my strength training three days a week, after I cool down a little from cardio. I have added a few more exercises to my strength program because I didn't feel challenged. I'm a little crazy but I like pushing myself.

I am having a lot of trouble fitting exercise during the day. I really don't have much to do during the day so there really are no excuses. I want to do it. I need to do it. I know it's very important to my success and goals not to mention health. I need a kick in the behind too!

I agree with that too. I wonder how they have made out since the show. I just bought a magazine that has one of the winners on the cover, but I haven't read it yet. I would be good to see a follow up to see how people are doing.

I'm definitely having to get my exercise in the morning, otherwise I won't do it because of so many other things I do during the day...house work, school, and job. The people on biggest loser do not have those other responsibilities. They go away from their families for however many months it is of them filming and doing the biggest loser. It's probably much harder to maintain all that weight they lost once they are home with more errands/chores/work to be done. I think it would be interesting to see the outtakes of The Biggest Loser in the very beginning when everyone has next to no endurance or training. Perhaps it would seem a bit more realistic to us then because in reality, getting that endurance is tough.

I have not been as motivated with the exercise due to my endurance as well. I hate feeling winded going up the stairs. I know that doing more cardio will help but I've been so lazy. Those people on the Biggest Loser, etc. workout 4-6 hours a day...how is that realistic???

Whenever I don't feel like exercising, I take a walk.. If it is too hot out, I try and go to the gym and tell myself I am only going to walk.. on the treadmill..slowly. After 10 minutes or so of just walking, I feel more motiviated and usually move on to something else..or pick up the pace. Or I increase the incline.. or start to do some intervals. Suddenly, I have a workout! But the bottom line is walking, even slowly, will make a difference. A big difference!

Apparently I need someone to kick my behind in gear on the exercise. When I do exercise I feel great, so I'm not sure why I don't push myself more to do it when I don't feel like it. Any tips?

I assume many of us are working on habit 3 so thought it might be helpful to share how the week goes. This one is a real challenge for me - my endurance is low so options feel limited. I know I need to exercise more but I just hate it or feel incompetent. I have been doing weights at the gym for several months and I am feeling stronger - especially arms and core - but I am struggling with cardio. My gym offers a Nia class once a week which I like but can't always make it (Sat mornings). Not sure what I can really do but try to walk faster.
