A really good idea is to offer to make a few dishes.
Take some recipes of spark and make big batches!
Veggie sticks and salsa is an extremely healthy snack and don't be afraid to get into the kitchen with the family and help cook!
Ask for them to dish up half serves and remind them that you are not trying to offend them, you are doing it for your health. Back your comments with something sracy you have learnt and they should be happy to help!

I walked extra miles this week and went walking this morning. I'm also taking bottled water and zero sprites so don't drink empty calories(sodas).
I understand the Grandma thing. I'm worried about a vacation to South Carolina at the end of July. First, everytime I go down there my bf's family feeds us til' we can't move. Every time we go down there we come back 10lbs heavier, and I am not exagerating. This particular vacation, my family's reunion is down there in addition to meeting his family and all my family really does for that entire reunion is gather around food for a week. I'm dreading it. I'm hoping since I am staying at my bf family's beach house that I can just get groceries and at least for the daytime, make my own breakfasts and lunches and just make very wise decisions for the week long eat outs for dinner.

I, too, am worried. When discussing July 4th plans, it seems my family concentrates on food! I'm fearful about being away from the comfort of my own home which I have made "spark" friendly. I agree, I think will journal it! Maybe blog on my sparkpage.

I am sure everyone has been there, you are at a family get together and its time to eat. What choices are you going to make? I can hear Grandma in the back round "That's all you are going to eat? ".
trying to put more food on your plate.
This year I am going to take smaller plate so looks like more, watch what I eat and the amounts.
Also going to journal when I feel the need to over eat. And Stay away from Grandma while eating
