edamame are soybeans. You can eat them right out of the pod or buy them already out of the pod. You can get them fresh or frozen. I always have frozen edamame in the pod in my freezer, they are really yummy. Even my kids love them.

For protein I like chicken, eggs, and will use either a whey or soy protein powder in vanilla & chocolate flavors. They can be mixed with fat-free milk, water, or whatever type of milk you prefer. I use water to keep my calorie count low.

I am a VERY picky eater and I do NOT like legumes, so that is out.... But what is edamame? I have never heard of it.... Also I don't like seafood, and everyone that i talk to suggest fish. What about like clams or lobster is that good in protein? I don't like those either but I am learning to like it and can tolerate a bite here and there. I don't like fish, it has a real big "fishy" tase..

I just said this in my other post, but I get a bag of almonds from trader joes that has individually portioned bags of dry roasted almonds and eat those as a snack or when I get a craving for something sweet. I also will slice up an apple and put a little natural peanut butter on it. Sprouted Whole Wheat bread is another way to get some extra protein, you can find that at trader joes, too. Try adding some beans or legumes into your diet, or snack on some edamame.

I've noticed that the majority of my protein has been coming from my lowfat milk, breakfast, fresh deli meat, and I got a wopping 30 for my protein last night from my boneless, skinless, chicken breast. I'm new at the calorie thing, so I'm sure the others have other suggestions too.

Try to avoid using dressings, spreads, etc....and stick to lean protein items like fish, chicken, etc.

It's a challenge to find a balance, but it truly can be done.

The key, for me anyway, has been to eat foods that are not processed, avoiding processed foods if I can... and being sure to watch what I put on my plate, making every meal balance...more veggies/fruit than "good carbs", and more "good carbs" than meat, sticking to lean cuts of meat, and using seasonings and sauces that are not based with oil or butter....and trying to stick with olive oil when I need to use an oil.
