It doesn't adjust automatically. If you choose to adjust it, you can. I get that message all the time because I usually do LOTS of cardio/exercise.

Great job on all that work!!

I'm not sure if it will adjust automatically but I know you can adjust it manually. If you know that you will regularly get that mus exercise you might want to think about doing that to make sure that you are getting enough of what you need to keep your body going.

I received the message below:

*You've gone over your weekly calories burned goal by a significant amount. This will not change your calories eaten goal automatically. If you'd like, you can change your fitness settings here.

This is the start of my 4th week on SP, do calories inputs get adjusted for activity? Kind of like WW activity points?

Thanks! I have added a lot of fruit to my diet lately. It's become the thing I eat when I crave candy or junk food and maybe I do need to balance it out with fiber.

Oh I went to Central America for two months and ate lots and lots of fruit and drank lots of water the first month. I thought I was having travelers diarrhea but it didn't go away after a week and stuck with me for three! So I knew something was wrong. I saw a doctor (which cost me 50 cents!) and he told me that it was my diet. I told him that I'd been eating a lot of fruit and not as much bread and he nodded as if he knew it all along.

If you have a lot of fruit in your diet and not much carbs or fiber or just something that holds it all together maybe that's it.

Okay, really strange and kind of icky question, but I have to ask. Have any of you experienced diarrhea with changing your diet? It worried me a little at first until I read that it sometimes happens when you change your diet around and that it should go away in a week and if not, see a doctor. I was just curious if anyone else experienced this or if it was just me and I need a doc visit.

The BMR formula for men is BMR=66+(6.23xweight in pounds) + (12.7xheight in inches)-(6.8xage in years) As written in Making the Cut

Hey, I posted something similar on a different message board and someone posted a great formula to find your BMR. I thought I'd post it here because it's great!

And thanks Mellowyellow, your words did help :)

BMR formula:

FEMALE: 655 + (4.3 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)

He didn't give a male formula. Sorry guys!

Hey! I am almos the same, I am 5'3 and 141 lbs and Spark People reccomended 1200-1550 for me. I just started but have lost 1.6 lbs. They reccomend aiming to loose 1-12 lbs a week. If you eat 900-1000 calories you might be hungry or not get all the nutrients you need. Have you taken your measurements? Muscle weighs more then fat so if you are working out and bulding muscle you might not notice that on the number shown on the scale so you should take your measurements when you weigh in. Hope this helps.

Hi all, I wanted to know if it is unhealthy to intake only 900 to 1000 calories a day. I am 5'3" 140 lbs. I'm not losing weight anymore and I think it's maybe because of the calories!

Thanks.

To DeGoddess, I've heard 3-4 hours.

To DSD831, there is a link under the area that says Newest Team Members at the bottom of our SparkTeam Page that says "View Team Map". If you click on it, there is a map that has tags of where all the team members are. You can zoom in and see who's close to your town or state or country. So when enable "show on team map" you are putting your tag on our map.

This is probably a stupid question, but I've been thinking about it since the weekend. How long does it normally take to digest a normal meal? I should know this, but I don't. Thanks!

Question about Carbs:

Does it matter what time of the day you eat them? Someone told me not to have any carbs after 5pm. Which is unrealistic for me because of my work schedule. If you aren't going over the amt does the time of day make a difference?

BacktoBarbie,
The VERY best way to find out is to buy a heart monitor/calorie tracker--brands like Polar. They will keep track of exactly how many calories you burn during your work out.
I was VERY surprised when I started tracking mine. Sometimes SP's calorie estimates are WAY over and sometimes that are too low.

Hope that helps!

I think sparks pretty accurate with those things!

I have a dance mat that calculates the amount of calories burnt during a fitness session.

I was on there for an hour and fifteen minutes and the amount of calories I burnt was almost identical on sp and on the game!

I think you've just got to be careful about what you are putting into the system and account for stretching, etc.

Okay, for any martial arts junkies out there...according to our fitness tracker, one hr of martial arts equals 720 calories!!! I did sweat a lot at class tonight but what is the best way I might be able to judge my actual burned calories? 720 seems like a lot...especially when it was a two hr class!

Any thoughts? emoticon

Go to Your Sparkpage, at the top right hand corner it says "Edit My SparkPage". Click on it and at the bottom it has those cute little tickers, if you click the button "Yes, show my weight loss ticker" it will show up on your message posts. I hope that helped.
