The accountability group is on Facebook. It's a private group called "Gireviks Unite". First step, have a Facebook account. Then, send me the name you use on FB and I will send you a friend request. At that point I can add you to the group. Info can be sent to rft@bellsouth.net.

I would be interested in joining the accountability group. I'm on day 16 of the 21 day kettlebell swing challenge. Some days are tougher then others but at 63, I assumed they would be..

I would LOVE to join this accountability group. I tried to send a private message with my fb username, but Spark is needing to verify my email and when I request that the email be sent, it says that an email was sent, but I'm not getting it. I may wake up tomorrow with 20 requests:) I hope this group is still active.

It's similair. It's the following:

10 exercies (some KB some not)
60 seconds each/15 second rest
Rest 2:00 min when complete

Repeat 2x

Exercises can consist of

Goblet Squats
Windmills
Figure 8
Swings (double or single)
Clean & Press
Snatches

But there's also skater, pushups, etc.

That's terrific. I'm not familiar with the Spartacus Challenge unless you're talking about "the 300". Please tell us more about it.

Welcome! And congratulations on your new class. The first requirement of the accountability group is a Facebook account because the team reports on Facebook. Don't worry, it's a private group and others can't read your posts. Just send a friend request to JaneKB or myself or gives us your Facebook name and we will send a request to you. Lorraine, it is just checking in to post.
Goal to do 3 workouts, add something challenging every week, post when you do them (or if you missed & commit to another doing them). Life sometimes gets in the way to you don't have to be perfect, but the goals are to do accountability and post enough to connect and push yourself.
Just send a facebook name to Retha or I to get added as a friend & invited in.

Did you figure out how you're going to do this yet? I may be interested if you let me know how it's going to work. I don't have time to do a Skype thing (I think that was mentioned before?)but if it's just going to be checking in and posting, I could probably swing that.

If you want an accountability group for KB exercising, or know someone else who is interested, check out Gireviks Unite (kettlebell lifters) accountability. Or read down to the first entry in this topic.

Purpose of accountability groups, to say what you will do, then say that you did it (or didn't and what you will do differently to reach your goals).

Certainly you don't have to have a smartphone to access the group. It was just decided that Facebook might be a more convenient way to communicate since Spark People options are limited, and you have to go through multiple steps to get to the posts and mail.

We are trying a facebook group as we can get to it from our smartphones and not have to get to a computer. Sparkspeople will do sparkteams on smartphones but it thru a regular internet connection so pretty klunky, facebook has a ap that does it nicely.

Hi,
I have been bouncing this idea off a couple of people.
Some of us want to be serious about our KB workouts but have been pulled off track by life.

An accountability group can really make you start back up (you say what you will do then have to report what you did, so lots of motivation).

Are you using KBs as your main workout, doing it (or wanting to do it) at least 3x a week? Are you using heavier weights (e.g. 20-35 for beginners, higher for more experienced people)?
Are you doing an RKC style (or equivalent) workout?
Do you want to push up your reps, your KB weight, your count, the difficulty of your exercises,.... something that increasing your workout difficulty every week?

Are you willing to post your goal at the beginning of the week and then be accountable to the group, posting what you actually did each day/workout day? E.g. DO YOUR WORKOUTS and tell us you did them?

The focus would be KB workouts (not other exercises) - something we are all doing and can challenge each other on and about being accountable for getting our workouts done. If you are not upping your workout each week, we will challenge you with something (watching your patterns and challenge you for what you are not doing but that still meets your goals).

We won't be helping with form, teaching you an exercise, or helping with problems that come up, this group (kettlebell challenge) is there for this and we can post and answer those questions in this team. But if you have the basic exercises down, are working out at least 3x a week with KBs, and want to increase the difficulty of your workout each week with a group that will challenge you to do this, then this group would be a fit for you.

The group could be a sparkpeople private team or a facebook group (decided by the initial people).
