Sheila - Makes me so sad to hear that. Yet, I remember that, just before I left Boston, my car window was broken in my parking (smashing the car against the brick wall of the building). All that was in the car were empty boxes for packing and some English books. The latter got scattered on the parking lot. I think it may have been drug-related. Dunno.

CA - our cars have electronic security systems, immobilisers in case of hijacking, additional gear locks and radio/CDs have removable faces to deter break-ins and removal. Some people leave the glove box open to show there's nothing left in there of any value, and it's ridiculous to think of leaving a shopping bag in view - whether it's full of recycling or valuables. Oh, and when driving, it's a good idea for a handbag to be in the boot, out of sight, as there can be a smash and grab at traffic lights or Stop streets. The Liberal attitude seems to be that it's a case of the haves and have nots, etc etc. My attitude is that some thieving rat bags have no moral compass and can't leave other people's things alone.

Sunday 17 March - Happy St Patrick's Day (esp.to Late DH2)

- Water refills
- Hardware store to exchange light bulbs for correct connection, etc
- Supermarket and health store (get some herbal antibiotics to help my system eradicate this lurgy)
- Cricket on TV

Sheila - That is truly eye-opening. My classroom (in the apt. across the hall from mine) is never locked. Sometimes I even forget to lock my own apt. at night. I try not to get lax living in a country that's so safe!

√ 1) Wash clothes.
√ 2) Do lots of vacuuming - under and behind things.
√ 3) Do that darn narration sample, and write to the company about the dates since haven't heard from them.
√ 4) Practice "Seal Lullaby," including a practice recording; set up lesson with voice teacher.

Yes - we have burglar alarms (recently overhauled and new pieces of wire put in), security bars on all opening windows, gates on all doors, pay for local armed response security company and bicycle patrol, belong to Neighbourhood Watch and get frequent email reports and alerts, also a subscriber to a Police FB page that does visible patrols and updates - we add our comments about the nefarious goings-on, suspicious-looking vehicles in the area, etc. Communications (phones TV internet) and security/insurance are huge gobblers of my paltry income! If we don't have the bars, alarms and armed response, our insurance companies can refuse to take us on as poor risk. It's a fabulous country, just a darned shame about so many of the people :(

- Boxing (again, only one class as I need to pace myself)
- Get some herbal/homeopathic antibiotics from health shop
- Curl up and watch Rugby on TV
- Try to go to DS's birthday celebration

- Supervise repair-man - driveway gate motor is playing up - also install anti-burglar devices (prevent them from lifting gates off tracks to enable nefarious access - a major problem in our neighbourhood)

CA - if we *needed* to drink bought water, I would supply it (we also pay for the municipal tap water, of course). We don't though, and it's my time, effort and decision to go to the stream to collect, usually on foot so that I get the mileage and the ST carrying it back.
