That is so RUDE to pick your cherries while you were gone. GRRRR!!!! You know it's not a neighbour as you are very generous with your veggies and fruit. That is so wrong!!

I can imagine you are in high garden gear!

I did another card making with Niki and Maddie, well, I talk and they use the stuff to make cards. Niki used the border maker for the first time and did really well. She thought it was a great tool. She's thinking of putting together a package for her mother through my Creative Memories, for Christmas. I have some good ideas for a nice starter pack for her mum.

I think making the girls happy helping with cards was the much wiser choice. I really can't see trying to do something where the chances of winning are nil.

I told them - even the owner of the company (I told) - I am the one to speak out but you can be sure that many agree with me. Thus far only 2 people have been participating. We'll see what happens on Friday when the first leg closes, but so far, it's all very quiet.

When they asked us for feedback, people made it clear that it would be sporadic to participate being that it's summer, so would like things to be new at different times. I don't know what they are thinking. They said that this way 2nd and 3rd places have chance to catch up and win. Well whoopee do. It was supposed to be a fun way to encourage people to scrapbook in the summer, but as I said "it's exclusive not inclusive."

Maddie asked if she and her friend could make cards today. I told her when the rain pours down and I'm on holidays, we'll take over Grandma's house and make cards. Or the girls can bring photos and do up scrapbook pages. It'll be much more fun for me than some silly contest that I cannot possibly catch up in.

HI.

I hate the video ads on SP. I will just get that out of my system. Yes the videos are turned off and it still takes forever to load as they bypass my "do not play" and play.

On another note, I won an album from Creative Memories. I'm waiting for it to arrive. If I don't get it next week, I'll contact the company. I belive it's a 8x8 book.

I was gointo do a competition with Creative Memories, but they decided that they needed to make it differently than originally discussed. It's a "how many pages can you make in a week" contest. A few of us thought it would be a new round each week. We found out that they will count all the pages from the start (early July) to the end (late Aug) and give out prizes each week to the one who has the most. When you win, you step down and it keeps going. No matter how we said "this isn't going to work, you are leaving some of us way behind" it was a no go. When I was told I was a spoil sport by one of the advisers and not to be so focused on winning, I said "If you were in a race and half the people were allowed to start running 10 miles ahead of you, would you still race? Or would you decide that no matter how hard you ran, no matter how much sleep you gave up, you'd never catch up, so you might as well enjoy the scenery and forget about them. See that's me, you will all be too far ahead for me to see you, so I'm going to enjoy the scenery and forget about you all." I think the funniest one (in a snarky way I said that *wink*) was "just pull all-nighters and you'll catch up." My friend Barb has 43 pages completed and the closing of the first leg is next Friday. She's retired, has her downstairs set up for scrapbooking ..........there is no way that I'll ever catch up. She was one who said "this isn't fair, it should be new every week."

Ah well, I will still scrapbook on my vacation (T minus 7 days) and not worry about it. I already won anyhow.......just for being a new adviser. :D

Yes I rest my case on the ever selfish Laura glad you did not have to listen to her all the way there and back I am not sure that they sell a sturdy enough tape for her mouth to make car pooling with her a pleasant expeience oops I used my outdoor voice again. And I usually like people she just riles me.

It was very enjoyable, nice to meet new people. I was the only one to stay for dinner - other than the family - so I felt more like I was part of the family than a paid guest. The family members who attended were great, 2 grandmas and one granddaughter (18). One of the grandmothers was the host/rep. She asked me to come back to the next one. She also offered a 10% discount if I order any scrapbook materials for use with the children I work with, which was really generous. That helps to bring down the taxes, shipping/handling costs.

I purchased a "Bubbles" cartridge for my border maker, some papers, stickers and a Legacy package (with stickers, papers and embellishments).

Laura was there - the one that - you know - I don't always see eye to eye with. She hasn't changed. Came in and was very shocked to see me sitting there doing scrapbooking, made a production out of how I didn't run it past her first. Then went on how we should have car-pooled, then later proceeded to state that she was running late as she should have been out of there by 2 PM and it was almost 4 PM. Yeah I'm going to car pool with someone who arrives late to the event and leaves early, that makes sense. *shaking my head*

HI!!!

I came here as I realized it's been forever since I checked in and saw a message about the team leader not being active. Made me chuckle as I realized I wasn't alone with not being around. emoticon

How is everyone doing?

I was watching TV, brain dead time and couldn't find anything to watch. Saw Canadian Scrapbooking, so tuned in. They were talking about the wonderful tools you can purchase from Creative Memories. That caught my attention as this company had gone bankrupt a few years back. I cannot purchase cartridges for my border maker or other cool tools, which always bugged me. Well, I thought it was a re-run and nope, it was a new show. I got onto our community page (Facebook) and asked if anyone was a rep in the area. Someone I know contacted me to share who her rep was, I contacted the lady and next thing I'm doing National Scrapbook Day (event). haha!!

The rep lives 20 minutes east of my community, at the local lake region and she held the event on the ground level of her huge home, overlooking the lake. I went Friday night and 12 hours on Saturday. I was the only one - besides family (2 ladies and the 3rd was the rep) - that was there on Friday and the last to leave on Saturday. I figured I paid for 12 hours on Saturday, so why should I leave at 4PM because people are scared to drive in the dark. I finished around 10 or 12 pages, was very stiff when I got up (despite getting up and walking regularly through the day) and felt like I accomplished much. I won a few door prizes and the rep gave me a little pack of stickers for being new. We all received a package of paper specifically done up for National Scrapbook Day.

Did anyone else participate in the day?

Yup you have permission to take any photos off my FB that you would like, that's one positive thing about FB. It lets us do that.

Maddie and I worked on two pages of collages over the Christmas break. The collages were of animals in my life, cats, dogs, horses, cows and pigs. She did a really good job as I put he in charge of design. It was fun. We have to do it again, for sure!

That sounds really nice Cheri. Fun too!

I have lots of scrapbooking to do and need to get it into one place! I have pages in my apt, pages at Mum's and half-done albums. I think when Derek finally moves out, I'll redo my office and get some scrapbook stuff down to my apt, so that I can get working more on it all.

We are from all over, here in the group. :)

I've purchased stamps from Stampin' Up, along with ink pads and cleaners. My niece loves to use the stamps for her art projects and cards. We were fortunate to get a box filled with stamps, for free, from a lady I knew who was having a garage sale. She thought my niece would love it and she was right!

Summers are just too short to be inside doing crafting. haha! Couple months and summer is gone, so have to soak in the rays while we can!

Is this group all from Canada or are there people from the US also? I can only sale Stampin Up in the US. The company sales in Canada but you have to get a Demonstrator there. I love Scrapbooking. My baby sister got me started back in 2012.

Stampin up is a company that sales paper crafting supplies. If a couple days go by where I can't get in my craftroom I feel like I'm going to explode. Lol! Sunday is the only day I don't get in my room. We pastor a church so Sunday's are pretty full.

A lady I know in the couple towns over, she is a Stampin' Up! person and I"ve purchased some stamps from her. You sure keep busy with paper crafting, cards, scrapbooking and such. I'm lucky if I do a few hours every few months. It's mainly a winter project for me.

Hi SASSISPRING. I do some kind of paper crafting 6 days a week. My 1st love is scrapbooking but I also make cards and other paper crafts. I am a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

I live in the states, down south. I'm a southern girl. Well, a 54 year old southern girl. LOL!

Online crafting is called a virtual crop. Someone is over the crop. You meet online, like on SparkPeople or Facebook, at a certain time. You work at home and post pictures of you completed challenges. You are given challenges and question to complete and answer. You get points for ever one you complete. At the end of the crop a name is drawn for a winner. So the more points you get the greater chance you have to win.

Cheri, I never did update you on the Easter colouring page for Maddie. She showed up for her photo and the manager of the paper forbid the secretary to take the picture. She said since Maddie couldn't be bothered to be there when I dropped off the picture, there was no photo. It was too late (it wasn't, the secretary was getting out the camera and it was still far from the deadline for the paper). Ah well, Maddie said "at least my name is in the paper and I won 2nd prize." I can't remember what she won, I think it was $5. I know it made her happy. But can you believe that manager? Turned out none of the kids got their photos in the paper, guess she felt having 3 pages in the paper is too much! haha! (it's a very small paper)

HI THEBECAJB, welcome here! I've never heard of scrapbooking online - what is that? Sounds intriguing. Where are you from? Do you do much scrapbooking?

I'm from central BC - the geographical centre of the province. We are dealing with a major wildfire, last report was 15,000 hectacres and getting very close to the highway.

I was trying to walk daily, got distracted doing other things, focused back on it, distracted again....yeah there you go. Most of this week has been terrible for breathing because of the heavy smoke and the pine needles falling with the ash, so I didn't spend much time outdoors. It was much clearer today because the winds shifted. My plan is to walk every day at lunch, as my office sits on the edge of the park down at the river (which is rising, but seemed to have slowed down today).

Take care!

I don't think they are giving out candy this year, as the front desk lady stated they just wanted to take her photo. She likes getting her picture in the paper, so it would be nice if she feels better for that. Plus they are leaving at the end of the month for Terrace, so I hope she's feeling 100% better by then. Plus it's Friday coming up and she really wanted another sleep-over despite her Dad saying "no more until the summer." haha!

In terms of scrapbooking, this is kinda in that field. Maddie made me 3 pictures on the w/e. She used scrapbook (white) cardboard and scrapbook stickers. One picture is a tractor in a hay field, getting down the hay. The 2nd picture is a train on the tracks and the light is red to stop the cars from crossing. The 3rd is a car on the road with a green light. (she drew the lights and coloured them correctly). I have them on my work bulletin board. :)

That's still enough Cheri, I hope that the sun arrives there soon. It's no coat time here. It's +6C and sunny. Love it!

Oh and Maddie put her submission in for the Easter colouring contest. They wanted the kids to show up, so they could do photos. I explained that she was sick with a cold, but that I'd call her folks. The lady said that was fine, it's just that they prefer if the children show up. In the past that's what she's done and received a candy for being there, but it's tough to do when you are ill.

I can imagine that she was very unimpressed with that snow. Is it snowing today? Ralph sent a photo from his farm in Sask and it's quite the blizzard they are having there. It's beautiful here, little cool, but sunny and lovely out.

We were far luckier than you!! It stopped, never stuck to the ground, it simply confused the birds. My office was cold today as the sun never hit the window, but once I went outside, it was beautiful. I turned down the heat in the apt too. I hope that it comes across those mountains to you, the warmer temps. Because exactly, how do you do spring with Lacey in a snowsuit?

It is snowing here now, Cheri. Crazy. I have to turn the heat on in my office. It's not sticking to the ground, so hopefully it'll warm up and change to rain.

Another good glitter story. I had been working all day with the kids and using glitter. The next morning after showering, I noticed what I thought was lice in my hair. I went up to the health unit and asked the health nurse to check me out. Next thing she was laughing her head off. Turned out it was gold (loose) glitter in my hair. ~whew~ But oh we had a good laugh on it!

A story of hair and glitter. I had a female teen as a client and during session, she regressed back to being a goofy little girl. That's pretty normal when doing art in counselling sessions, and then, they return back to their age when it's time to leave. However, she went a step farther than any I had worked with, she took the glitter glue and put it in her hair. When I reacted she said "chill, it's just like hair gel only prettier." I explained it was glue, G-L-U-E and she laughed, oh it'll be fine Bev, chill. It took her 3 weeks to get it out of her hair. What a mess. hahaha!!
