Hey, all.

Manc, it's VERY unlikely you gained 8# in a week. More likely you had more salt than usual (water gain) or, excuse me, were a bit constipated. You just can't gain that much real weight in one week--the body just won't do it.

Bug is still holding strong. Went it to teach my class, then came home to bed. I'm clocking sleep like it's for retirement.

John, I think you'll want to look on line. I've never tried to do meditation "for" any particular purpose, but I expect there are guides out there. Good success to you!

Hi ppl,

Know that I shouldn't but I weighed myself again today just to see what had happened over the last week, and my weight had stayed the same. Can only assume that due to weighing myself before work, an early start, or a technical fault on the scales led to a mistake. Feeling a lot better over that and I was out tonight and training is back on tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a good start to the week and it carries on.

Brit - hope you feel better soon!

Manc - I agree - the weight can come on quick if the routine is changed (I need to learn weekends are just another day...)

John - don't know if these are good, but did a quick internet search theconsciouslife.com/guided-meditati
on
-for-stress-anxiety.htm

Celia - so sorry about your neck - friend went to her doc and I may have some exercises to blog about later.

Very foggy this morning (free facial weather) and I'm hoping the temps rise enough for a walk @ lunch. Minimal meetings this week, so I actually can get some work done!

Kim, sitting outside by the pool sounds heavenly. Cold and icy here today, so we once again have the telework option.

Peggy, so glad you had a great birthday celebration. I agree with Brit that on occasion we should let ourselves be free from the stress of the plan and not feel guilty.

Brit, I hope you are feeling better today, but I'm guessing not, since you were in the early stage of your cold yesterday. {Hugs}

Manc, I hope your gain was mostly water so it will come off easily. Eight pounds seems like a really large number for two weeks.

John, let us know if you find a source for your guided meditation!

Well, I just stretched wrong and pulled something in my neck. In the last five minutes the muscle has started to spasm, spreading from a spot to the length from the base of my skull down to my shoulder and restricting my range of motion. I'm trying to work it by turning my head...hope it lets go soon.

Good Morning

Does anyone know a source for a guided meditation that deals with anxiety and fear issues?

Hi ppl,

Hope everyone that is feeling a little under the weather gets better quickly. Due to the weather last week I didn't do much. As a result weight gain. Was has shocked me is how much. 8lb in a week thats two weeks loss and a little extra for good measure, didn't really change what I was eating though. Need to start tracking calories and doing some exercise at home. Thankfully the weather is back to normal and so out for a run later.

Have a good week ppl

Peggy, an occasional over-do it not a problem in a healthy life style. Feeling guilty about it would have been worse. I'ts guilt--dietary, religious, familial, letting someone (including one's self) down--that causes more stress and negativity than any other single emotion I can think of.

I have a cold, so slept the clock 'round...literally. It's still in that nasty incubation stage, which means I may or may not be able to go in tomorrow. Once it breaks, I don't mind being around others, but during the sore-throat-achy-yuck stage, I need total solitude, lots of warm tea, and a good bed. At least it is only a cold, not flu, and doesn't feel like it'll be one of those that moves in for the long haul.

back to bed, my tea has brewed.

Brit - I agree we do get 'winter-weary'
Peggy - emoticon - I can assure you that you are not as old as I am! emoticon
Feng Shu - is the best

Manc - here's to carrots!

Rhonda - here's to the first batch of spring lettuce

CALIBILLY4 - sorry you're feeling unmotivated - the only way I can move is to take one small step @ a time

MARTYJOE- there's info on meditating on the bottom of the team page and great recommendations here

Celia - massage sounds wonderful

Kim - time with dogs is like pennies from heaven - add some pool time and WooHoo!

Spending a quiet, catch-up weekend @ home - didn't get the rain we needed but the moisture alone is helpful. We may even walk the dogs later...

Thank you for the birthday wishes. :) Its actually tomorrow but we celebrated last night since that was my son's bd and he won't be here tomorrow. It was a lovely evening. :)

Rhonda ~ I totally agree that I am definitely a better and wiser person ~ my mom used to say "we are too soon old and too late smart" and boy, I can relate to that one. :) I hope you have got 'the animal' under control. I released mine last night but am back on plan, today. Its a battle, some days.

Brit ~ I know, I look at my hands and other places and can't believe it's me. :( My mom used to tell me that she never felt any older, now I know what she meant. Its just the deceitful body that gets old and stops working. Yes, having the energy back would feel so good. LOL at 'when I feel 86', cuz ain't that the truth! I have never had quinoa but that salad sounds amazing. :)

Celia ~ Such good news for your husband but it must have been so hard for all of you until you got the results. I'm very glad it turned out well. :) Wonderful description of a life coach. I've never had one but I do see a councilor, who is almost like a son to me. I just love him, he's a great councillor and he's helped me a lot. :) Just the thought of your long commute boggles my mind. I'm really glad that you have come to terms with it and find productive things to do.

Cali ~ I'm really happy you like the One-Minute meditation. Keep it up ~ the point is not how long you meditate but that you DO meditate. :)

Kimberlee ~ Sounds like an awesome peaceful afternoon. Enjoy!

Well, I overate last night and really couldn't count my meal. They had discontinued what I had planned so I had to scramble for another healthy meal. It was awesome! Then we came home to cake ~ and my son, who bought it, has talked for years about this wonderful cake they make at an out-of-town bakery. He finally bought one ~ so, of course, I was expected to eat, and rave, about this cake. I 'usually' refuse things that are not on my plan but I didn't have the heart to refuse this so I has a piece. It was 'good' but I really don't like cake, very much. Then, for whatever reason, later on when I was watching TV, I ate TWO candy bars. So, I just didn't count calories yesterday, knowing I went way over. It seems that once I get too much sugar, it triggers something and I want more. Today, I am back on track, and plan to stay that way.

I, also, got some lovely gifts so that was really nice. My son, whose birthday it was, bought me a Woodstock Water Bell Tabletop Water Fountain, which is a bowl with moving water, and bells that move with the water and lightly hit each other, making a wonderful sound. Apparently, it is good Feng Shui and I can't wait to meditate with it in the background. Its beautiful. :) I, also got wonderful gifts from my other sons. :)

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! Stay healthy! emoticon

Celia - what a gift that woman was! We often go to friends for advise and I think they often give us their opinion or what they think will make us happy. I love how she allowed you to find the answers within.

I am going over to a friend's house to dog sit for several hours today. It is lovely (mid 70's and sunny) and they have a pool so maybe I will bring a book and read out by the pool. I also have a movie - but it seems so nice outside.

Calibilly, I love the one minute meditation. Sometimes it's just what I need to refocus when work has me in a tizzy.

A life coach is someone who can help you delve inside yourself for answers when you can't seem to find them yourself and who can provide external affirmation if you are not getting it. Sounds like a good friend, right? Yes, and with a healthy dose of training, intuition, and empathy. When I went on a personal retreat at Kripalu, I had one session with an incredible woman who is a life coach. I had been stressing almost to the point of breaking about my job, which I like despite the frustrations, and the horrible commute, which is like a part-time, unpaid job in itself, since it sucks up to four hours a day out of my life. Her gentle but incisive questions helped me decide that no, I did NOT want to move closer to the job because we love where we live; and no, I did NOT want to change jobs; so I would have to grapple with the commute and change my attitude. I learned how to use that time to my advantage by meditating and letting the stress go (I drive very little of the commute; most is on public transportation). Now that I've beat most of that stress, I find I'm using the commute time much more productively and for what I need at the time (sometimes I just need to close my eyes and nap, other times I want to read). So that's my experience with a life coach, and many can work online.

Yes Peggy I am trying this on my own. I live out in the country. No resources in sight on meditation. Thanks of the one minute meditation, it was great. I tried it and had my eyes close listening to my breathing. I opened my eyes for sure the minute was to be up and it had only been 30 seconds. I just busted up laughing and it still makes me laugh...laughter is good, right? I will research guided meditations on utube and see what I come up with.
Celia what is a life coach? I have not heard of that.

Peggy, an early Happy Birthday!

Kali, DH had a virtual physical that revealed a spot in his brain. The MRI showed it to be a cavernoma, a cluster of blood vessels with low blood flow, so a major bleed is not a big risk. He has probably had it all his life and is totally asymptomatic. He'll follow up with a neuro, who will most likely say they'll just keep an eye on it.

Brit, your description of your colleagues brought back memories. In my short time teaching at a graduate school, I thoroughly detested faculty meetings as a waste of time, and I especially loathed the faculty members that just had to talk and talk, apparently liking the sound of their own voices. On the other hand, that quinoa salad must have made your day feel better.

Manc, what a delightful description of carrots...I love them, too. Enjoy the snow!

Rhonda, hope the ravenous beast is tamed again.

Calibilly, have you tried a life coach? And Peggy's advice to not go it alone is super!

Sluggish day for me. We went to a wine dinner last night, and I probably had too much. Not enough for a hangover, thank goodness, but enough to leave me feeling tired today. It didn't help that DH got called to fly and had to leave the hotel at 3:30 am. Fortunately, he had not drunk much because he is on a liver-stressing med right now and has to limit alcohol, so he was able to bound out of bed and start his day. I got up when I got up, and by the time I went down to check out at 8:30, I found that all the busloads of kids who had stayed at our hotel after the March for Life in DC had drained all the coffee urns in the lobby. I got about a half cup of dregs. Then I stopped for some groceries and came home for breakfast. The highlight of the day was a wonderful massage this afternoon.

Hi ppl,

I searched guided meditation and got some good results back. I would suggest trying a few and, like with so many things, seeing which fits the best for you.

We had some snow over night, not much near me a couple of cm's, but enough to be a pain. So after getting in to work avoiding a bit of a tumble found out that all the early starters decided that the snow meant they could all have a day off!

tomorrow should be a better day all the snow should be gone and work should be better

I just came across this in one of my FB groups. The only thing that I don't like about it is that he doesn't give you anything to concentrate on, which is fine if you can do that. I, personally, like to have a mantra or at least focus on my breath. It's an awesome little video, though. :) Only a couple of minutes long and shows you a One Minute Mediation.

I had a long answer to this, just as the site went down for a few minutes, and I lost it. :( While I go work on my patience ;) I will say that there are a lot of links to guided meditations below in Meditation and Spiritual Awareness Forum. These are meditations that people here have tried and enjoyed. So you might want to start there.

IF I had to do it alone, without a teacher, I wouldn't have lasted 2 days. I can suggest going to my teacher's site. I adore this man and he, and his meditations, have changed me and my life. :) You will have to join, I believe, before you can browse but this just gets you one newsletter a week so its not a bunch of advertising. If you go to his blog, there is a 5 week meditation challenge going on. We are on week 4 but if you scroll down they are all there. It's just once per week. The address is www.davidji.com

Use some of these links. My advise is not to go it alone. ENJOY the ride, it is awesome! :)

Hi everyone. I haven't visited this post in a couple weeks. I have been struggling with my personal journey of change..so far I haven't made any changes! I am really interested in meditation, but can't seem to sit myself down to do it. I tried for a couple days then gave up then tried again and gave up. It angers me that I can not seem to stick to anything that I plan to do. I am very much dealing with anger at myself and depression for how my life is. I want to feel at peace. I want to feel happiness...I want others to want to be around me and not feel my negativity. *sigh*

I had a 'winter quinoa salad' at the library cafeteria that was splendid and full-filling: quinoa, butternut squash, cranberries, pumpkin seeds and a light orange vinaigrette. It had a magical feel to it. I would NEVER spend the time on making such a dish, but it went so well with the day. And it was all wintery things (except the quinoa--isn't that African or some such warm-place grain?)

Thank you for the kind words, Rhonda. I sometimes send words up into the darkness, like flares, to my way out. It's being a tough month, all in all.

Peggy, I'm only about 17 months behind you. I look at my hands and wonder--these are mine? and I don't FEEL anywhere NEAR 60 inside (except, of course, when I feel 86).

Peggy aging is a necessary and often unwanted part of life. With age comes wisdom and confidence. Its great knowing what I know today, but can I please have my energy and 20 year old body back! Have a good time this weekend. I hope the positive over shadows the negative.

Brit I look forward to reading you beautiful posts everyday. emoticon just proves the simplest of things are the best life has to offer.

Kali 21 degrees? This California sissy can't even handle a morning smoothie at 40 degrees.

Celia-TGIF!

Kim your parents are great!

Man carrots are yummy! I know all too well when I indulge in the unhealthy food groups that I feel HORRIBLE. We are what we eat.

I am having craving for summer produce fresh from the garden. I think my body is tired of the winter foods. I've had this crazy psychological hunger animal inside me all day. I meditated for two hours trying to fight the beast. Then took a nap. It helped coming here. This is what I get for eating junk 3 days in a row. Even the smallest bit turns me in to an animal!

Hi ppl,

carrots definitely prove plants keep the sun in their roots, bright and sweet. Snow has fallen and getting to work tomorrow could be good.

Hope everyone has some good plans for the weekend that pan out.

Thanks for the welcome back. :)

Brit ~ I am so glad that someone trustworthy found your wallet and returned it safe and sound. I have to work on patience, too, so I understand. :) Yes, I really do think you are right about our attitudes at this time of year. I know I really have to work hard on staying 'up'.

Celia ~ The weather is awful, for sure. I have sinus problems, too, and it IS really difficult sometimes. :( Even though it is cold, where I live, its way better this year than a lot of other years, however, so that is a plus.

Kali ~ How wonderfully put ~ "exercise does for the body what meditation does for the soul". Good luck with the weekend dieting ~ I find that the most difficult time, as well.

Rhonda ~ I hope the internet is fully cooperating again. I am so sorry about your friends.

Kimberlee ~ It is wonderful that you are at peace and things are working out so well. It is amazing how well we do when we put our wishes out to the universe (or God) and detach from the outcome. Beautiful that your family is so supportive.

Manc ~ I hope you are more at peace with 'other people'. It is a very difficult thing to do. Negativity zaps my energy. If I am around negative people, even over the phone, for too long, I feel like I'm exhausted.

I am fighting negative and positive emotions at the moment. Monday is my 60th birthday. Negative that I am so old, so soon ~ but positive that I am healthy and well and alive. hehe My son's birthday is Saturday. He is 26 on the 26th. He was/is the best birthday present I have ever had (or ever will). We will be celebrating this weekend. We already know the restaurant we are going to and I already have my meal picked out. Very yummy and also healthy. Neither of us like cake so I am making a Weight Watchers Butterscotch Peanut Butter pie that we all love. Going to do my best to stay on track and also enjoy the moments. :)

Who was it said "work is work?" I'd have to agree. My colleagues, whom I mostly respect a lot individually, become absolutely toxic en masse. In committees, for instance, we are poison. AND then when we add the administration, whose mission seems to be self-perpetuation at the expense of anyone necessary, the brew is hellish. So, yes, work is work.

I'm wondering if the time of year doesn't sometimes make it worse--we are all winter-weary, weather-tired, and exhausted from the back-lash of the holidays, which, whether they were wonderful, full-filling times spent with families and friends or lonely solitary journeys, are draining. Theodore Roethke wrote that 'deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light' and that's what I cling to in this time of year, the 'darkest hour before the dawn' of spring. Roots aren't always very pretty, they tend to be earth-covered, and dirty, but they keep the light...

I wish peace and wholeness to each here.

Celia - what did I miss - brain MRI? And I won't comment on your work (although I think they take you way too much for granted...)
Kim - emoticon what an emoticon attitude! So glad your family is there to support you.

Brit - love your description of 'happy time'!

Rhonda - so sorry for your loss...

Manc - you're right - work is work.

I'm learning (slowly - a lesson that keeps repeating itself) that I'm not the final say (even in my area of expertise).
emoticon
On the other hand - the day is gorgeous (already 21 degrees), I'm enjoying a left-over smoothie for breakfast and have dinner with friends tonight.

Rhonda, Manc, and Kim, thanks for the good job wishes. In a way it ended up being worse for my boss, who was in the middle of a much-needed vacation and had to dial in on the coordination calls...on her 50th birthday! Bummer!

Yesterday was 10 long hours of stress for me (2 unpaid), so I am glad today is quieter...so far. The Office of Personnel Management responded to the forecast for wintry weather by authorizing unscheduled leave/telework today, so I am getting an unexpected telework day (meaning more sleep last night...yay). OPM has gotten much better at authorizing unscheduled telework after being severely criticized for waiting until the bad weather started to send people home (more than once), clogging already accident-snarled roads so badly that it took some people up to 10 hours to get home, while others gave up and checked into hotels (at great expense in the DC area).

Celia - it's horrible how the government works. It seems worse than corporate America - I hope the whole thing calms down quickly and you can get back to your "regular" work

Rhonda - I'm so sorry about your friends. Thank you also for the very kind words. I am feeling very hopeful for the future

Manc - hang in there!

Brit - thanks - I love the way you put that - beautiful!

I filled my parents in on everything that is going on today. I told them at Christmas the general plan but have not shared the specifics (just in case I freaked out and backed out - I didn't want the disappointment.) They were very supportive and said that if I need any help of any kind (emotional or financial) that I should call them. My mom said that they would hop in a car and drive down if I thought I needed them. How wonderful to have such loved shared. It makes me feel like I have another layer of safety net.

Hi ppl,

busy, busy, busy...that and the cold weather means I haven't been out running this week. Starting to get tired, not sure if this is maybe a little too much on the food cut or just work getting in a bit.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement about work everyone, CELIAMINER we seem to have the same sort of problems from above...guess work is work.

BRITOMART enjoy your comfy time.

Kali I enjoyed hearing about your massage thank you emoticon Really I did.

Kim I feel with all of my heart that things are going to be great for you. Everything will work out just the way its meant to be. Brit put it beautifully. I''m having issues trying to log my fitness its a little irritating.

Celia I wish a new job would pop up for you. They treat you horribly. Perhaps its time for you and your husband to think for seriously about relocation. The stress is not good for you.

Man that's hard. A minimum of 1/3 of our lives are spent at work. Spending so much time around a negative situation and people is draining. I wish you luck.

I was feeling really down yesterday I have lost two friends this week. One to cancer the other was MS related.

Brit, glad you are fully walleted again.

Kim, how wonderful that you are at peace with your decisions and with the changes you are making!

Manc, what Brit said about developing detachment.

I could use a little detachment right now. Frustrated with work today due to a manufactured OMG! Hair on Fire! Drop everything else! crisis. The stupidity of government agencies continues to astound me, and peons at my level are where the excrement from above gets dumped. Canceling all other plans to help those poor, overpaid execs who can't plan their way out of a paper bag get "instant" answers to questions that could have been part of an orderly data call spread over several days. DH, bless his heart, is running my errands, but I had to cancel ST. At least I got some exercise from shoveling the drive and sidewalks.

Kim, I'd say be grateful, full of wonder, and ENJOY the experience. It sounds like you are on a good path--as Jack Kornfield would say, "a path with heart." Walk it well.

Mancmale, congrats on achieving detachment! that's useful.

I'm warm, walleted, caught up, and ready to enjoy the evening. Silk yarn, a good dvd, glass of wine, cozy pups...happy time.

Hi ppl,

so this year I am trying to stop work, and others get to me and have a negative effect. There are a few people at work that seem to be trying to test me on this, one is a non stop whinge and moan machine. Thankfully this isn't having the effect it would of last year but it is tiring me out a lot a the moment.

Hope everyone is having a good week

Hello Team

I have been having intermittent inability to log into Spark all week. Sometimes, I click the log in button and nothing happens. I can read posts but not reply. Then sometimes, it works just fine. So if I seem a bit spotty, you know why.

I have so much going on in my life right now (leaving a 12 year relationship, moving into my own place, still starting up a new company .....) and I keep thinking that I should be panic stricken. But I am finding my way to living in the moment (at least most moments.) I really made a conscious decision to turn it over to the universe. I've tried to do this in the past but I always wanted to put conditions on things. This time, I surrendered to the fact that what I was doing wasn't working out so well for me. And what do you know.... things are working out pretty darn good. I really don't know where the faith came from. I am so grateful for the peace of mind.

Hello, M&M-ers.

Wallet is home safe--even the small change and odd bits-and-pieces showed up. I'm very happy.

Rhonda, sorry about the net not netting for you. If it weren't for work, and needing to be available for students, I'd leave mine off a good deal of the time: prefer fountain pens and books.

Brit, good news about the wallet, and you're right that such action SHOULD be real "news."

Rhonda, hate when the Internet doesn't cooperate. Hope it's back 100% soon. What in the world does it mean to need different filters?

Kali, your massage does sound heavenly!

Started the day at 9F where I live. Too cold! Waiting right now for DH to call with results of yesterday's brain MRI.

Manc - exercise does for the body what meditation does for the soul emoticon

Peggy - I agree, a calm soul is better for the world...

Cindi - great migraine site emoticon

Brit - how fortunate your wallet was found

Celia - sorry about the no sleep, but way to use what the universe sent

Zero balance massage @ noon - emoticon good for body, mind and soul. Great eye exam yesterday + new drops for winter dryness. Brit I'm so sorry I mis-read your post. Its beyond me how a doctor could miss such an obvious tumor. I hope your friend's prognosis was not altered by the delay in an accurate diagnosis.
On another topic it was certainly good luck that an honest person found your wallet. It's nice to know good people still walk this earth.

Celia TOO COLD! I would never want to leave my house with weather like that. With all the money wasted on ridiculous studies I would think the powers that be could come up with something to effectively treat sinusitis! I hope you feel better soon.

Peggy glad to see your back among the living.

Cindi I will check out that link thank you so much!

Kim I hope everything goes well with the condo. I had to do something similar when I bought at my current location for the good it did. Our neighborhood has gone down hill. The person who was in charge was keeping the money and not doing the credit and background checks she should have. Amazing how people can come up with ways to cheat.

GR8ERJOY I'm a little late to the party but my workout is separate from my meditation practice. My normal routine ( most effective is) workout different types of cardio then yoga or strength training alternating days. Then I meditate. I feel that the physical activity burns up the stress. Next the meditation can slow me down and put things into perspective or just relax me. I feel the difference when I do not keep a solid meditation schedule. I feel grumpy, off, negative.... Meditation gives me peace and clarity.

Most of yesterday internet was down in my area. My failed to come back up once whatever was wrong was fixed. Allegedly I need to buy new filters. I found a temporary fix, but it involved unplugging the phones. Even so it has gone down a couple of more times today. So... internet is a little iffy on my end for a few days.

Hi, Celia. Thanks for the good wishes. My Portland friend has collected the wallet and will mail it to me (as fast as it can be sent) so, if all goes well, I should be reunited with cc, id, and the rest of the alphabet soup of social belonging by tomorrow. Means I have to drive with especial care and not need to buy anything much (I don't keep much cash on hand). How fortunate that my wallet was found by an honest, caring woman. The sort of story that SHOULD make the news, but never does.

Our highs have barely reached freezing in two weeks--and that's not normal for us. Oh, well. Keeps things interesting.

I'mo off to work.

Brit, so sorry about the wallet and the stress of not knowing. Hope you were finally able to reach the person who found it!

Morning, Cindi and all!

We had the second, stronger cold front move through last night, and the changing weather sent my sinuses reeling (= no sleep), so I turned off the alarm and opted to telework today. Just as well, since after a stellar weekend of highs in the 50s, we will probably not reach 30 today. Not ready for that abrupt change, but alas, it is winter.

Oh, my, do I need to work on being centered at the moment! I dropped my wallet when I was visiting in Portland. Found out when the person who found it left voice & email messages to tell me she has it. Of course, she's out, & not answering phone (but I canNOT imagine a thief would tell me she had it, so I'm trying to possess myself with patience). I'm not a patient woman, so this is weighing heavily on me right now. And driving to work tomorrow, sans license, will not be fun. Oh, joy, the pleasure of that unthought-out moment!

Another late in the day check-in. Peggy, so sorry about the flu! :-(

Welcome, Gr8erjoy! I'm with Brit in that meditation centers me. I do like combining meditation with movement through walking meditation, yoga, and tai chi.

Kim - HOA's - rolling eyes. I got myself elected to my HOA board so I would have a say.

Another great day to walk...a 10K walk through historic areas of Frederiksburg, VA, followed by a so-so volksmarch billed as a "river ramble"...all on sidewalks with rare glimpses of the river, so we cut it to a 5K. Then we went to a micro-distillery...a first for us! Not really into hard stuff, but it was interesting. Then home to laundry and yoga.

I consider exercise and meditation to be two separate goals for the day. Although, I also tend to find that more of my regular (and physical) activities are now much more meditative than in the past.

Had a good but busy day. My 10am appointment canceled due to the flu (thank you) so I got some chicken marinating before I left for the day. Then I worked a few hours for a client and then had my home inspection. While we were there, the HOA president dropped in and said hello .... and made sure I knew I needed to "apply" for permission to buy and have an interview. I was working on the application when he came in. He seemed very nice and it's all just a formality and a way to charge me $100. I also met a woman who lives 3 doors down. She was really nice. It seems like a good place to live.

Kali ~ Thank you. I hope the flu is gone, too. It's been a long haul. :)

GR8ERJOY ~ This is just my opinion and what works for me. :) I try, very hard, to meditate everyday. I, also, try to exercise almost every day. The two choices are like apples and oranges. IF it comes to a choice between exercise and mediation ~ well, almost 'anything' and mediation ~ I will choose meditation. If my mental and emotional state is not in good condition, then I am unable to do 'anything' else to the best of my ability. I find meditation provides me with all-around good health so that I am able to live my entire life better. :)

Manc ~ Enjoy your biking. I hope you've been able to get the peddles changed. :)

Hi ppl,

Going for the first in a 5k training app I have on my phone in a bit. Having a wrestle with the bike fitting the new pedals, one doesn't want to come off my bike.

I try to meditate when I can, GR8ERJOY, but exercise time seems to be more when it's my time at the moment that means the commute or when I get out and run.

Hope everyone has had a good monday and the week is a good one to every one.

Manc - making me jealous for my bike compute - I agree the cleats make my trip faster

Rhonda - yardwork and a good book sound divine

Brit - a nap sounds perfect
Celia - emoticon on your emoticon - understand about staying away - crowds don't look too bad on TV, but I imagine it would be difficult to navigate the city

Peggy - bummer about the flu - hope you are feeling better for 'real' soon
GR8ERJOY - glad you've joined us - I emoticon in addition to swimming, circuit training, walking and bike riding, but some of the others also include yoga (on my list of things to do). I'm convinced meditation helps with mindful living (including eating)

Not sure what the day will bring - watching the inaugural parade, some shopping, playing with the pups and generally enjoying life. I have a few meetings tomorrow, but otherwise plan to spend with DH to celebrate his B-Day.

Hope all have a fabulous day!

Interesting question! GR8ER...I suppose meditation IS a form of (spiritual/mental) fitness, but I do it because I need inner balance and the quiet it brings to be an even reasonably decent person most days.

However, I now DO do my fitness routines in a more meditative frame of mind since I finished phys. ther. not sure if it's cause/effect, ageing, or simply coincidence. Being mindful helps every activity--washing dishes, putting on shoes, whatever--fulfill its meaning...at least, that's what I've learned--and keep on learning.

Celia, how lovely to be walking so much in such lovely places. Right now, I could walk anywhere; it would all look/feel about the same; we're STILL having frozen fog, with 1/4 mile visibility. When the sun actually showed for a few minutes (first time in well over a week) the dogs began campaigning for a walk immediately. B/c it's been so long, it was a slow walk; they had to check every tree for their pee-mail updates. I've got to get them out more, even when none of us wants to go--it's killing their social lives!
