Surely the whole Paul McKenna message is that you do not count calories, or track what you eat! You choose what you eat by what you fancy not what is perceived to be good for you. It doesn't matter whether food is high calorie or not, as your stomach shrinks you don't eat enough of it for it to matter.

You are right! Just refocus. This morning I reminded myself I do not have to eat like everyone else. I can eat small portions, say "thanks, but no thanks" to desserts and high calorie foods. No one really notices as they are enjoying their own food and thoughts.

Good to hear you are doing well Suzi. Yes, you can do it but only if you stay focused.

Are you obsessing about your weight and what the scale says? Only if you want to. Everything we do is a choice but that choice depends on our thoughts in the moment.
For health reasons I get to weigh myself everyday. Notice I said "get" and not "have to".
I look at the number on the scale as a messenger. If I overate and the number is higher, then it is a message to cut back. If I didn't overeat and the number is higher, then it is just water. I know the number will come down. I also remind myself that stressing over the number just encourages emotional hunger.

I am still working on not letting a number on a scale stress me out. New habits take time to create and the only way to do that is one day at a time.

I understand!! It is hard to stay focused when you are distracted with company. Just refocus now and keep your head in the game!!

I am doing well actually, I have started looking at myself in the mirror in the morning and telling myself that I can do this and then picturing myself at that weight! I am back concentrating on this and this time I am facing this (my addiction) in the face and I am not gaining it back!

I need to weigh myself, but I can get obsessive with that so I try not to weigh every week. I try and not focus on the weight but my health and how I feel. If I eat the right foods and the right way, I feel good. But, I am about to weigh so that I can have an idea of what the scales say...lol. I want you to ask me if I am obsessing about the weight. ok? That is death for me!!!

I have had family home this week and indulged a bit here and there. It is amazing how easily calories add up. A slice of bread, a sliver of cake, more rice or pasta thereby less veggies, etc. Even small portions add up.

Once family leaves I can go back to my simple way of eating.

Good deal. I am planning on doing a protein shake for dinner which is very filling and healthy and helps me with my sweet tooth. Visalus makes the best tasting shakes.

Habits take time to change. It is so easy to forget ones goals and go back to mindless eating.
I did fine calorie wise yesterday but my food choices could have been better.

Today will be a good day.

Yesterday I did really well with the water and I stopped eating as I felt full at lunch but didn't do as well at dinner due to distractions. I hope to be better about that today. But I am choosing to focus on how it felt good to stop at lunch. I didn't feel as though I was too full but I was satisfied. I want to do that for every meal today and try and eat more often rather than eat as much. emoticon

Kay, sorry I didn't respond right away. We had a couple's workshop we had to do this weekend.

Goodness, I totally left the whole thing out of my mind and so today I am hurting physically from eating foods that are not healthy for me.

My goal today is to also listen to my body, think about the choices I am making and if it is a healthy choice...not mindless eating. And also to keep a water bottle with me all day. If it is handy, I will drink it.

It is a busy day today because we need to find a new house. I would appreciate your prayers with that.

I hope you have an awesome day and I too am glad to have you as an accountability partner because if I didn't have your e mail, I doubt I would have started to refocus after the weekend. Thanks, Kay!

Mindful choices and awareness are a must. I sort of been posting on the 90 day success journal thread. I also am working on not thinking of food as good or bad but whether it will help get me to my goal or not. No judement there.

Although my goal is to lose 10 lbs, I am working on the following:

1. Learning to once again listen to my body. I stopped listening to it years ago and started overeating and overtiring myself.

2. Productive thinking. Negative thinking and old beliefs are so draining and I have no energy to waste.

3. Develop a way of life (thought system) that will enable me to achieve my goals in a fun, easy and healthy way.

4. Find people that can help keep me focused and that I can reciprocate also. By myself I eventually drift back to my old habits and thinking.

Hi Suzi

Although I am 70 years young, my mind still thinks I am 27 years old. I have 4 children (2 boys and two girls) , the oldest is a girl age 43 (about your age). I have 6 grandchildren.

I live in sunny California. I love to play in my garden, in the water and anything to do with nature. I enjoy reading and any creative pursuit.

I have heart failure so that limits what I can do physically but I try to remember that my mind is still powerful. I would love to lose 10 lbs for health reasons as I think I look pretty good as I am.

Check out the spark team "A mindful path to losing weight". I am the only one that posts there and sort of use it to track my goals.

Kay, I am planning on the same as the other day which is to go to the pool and swim or dance with my daughter. (my arms are actually sore from swimming the other day.)

I plan on focusing on the fact that I am allowed to eat everything i want and not on the things that are bad for me but to be mindful of the choices I make today with food. I tend to shame myself for things that I eat that are bad, so instead of looking at food that are "bad" I am trying to not do that anymore....food can not be neither good or bad...they are just food. And there are foods that help me feel better physically or foods that make me feel worse physically but it is my choice to make which foods I should eat.

Foods that make me hurt physically I found are tomatoes and other very high acidic fruits or veg. and refined sugars. So, those are foods I am choosing to stay away from. Mindful to drink a lot of water (that has proven to be harder for me but not impossible already 8 oz this morn!!!)

My verse that I am claming for today is...

"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything." 1 Corinthians 6:12(NASB)

What are your goals and how are you doing today? And tell me a little about yourself. Oh, and thanks for the visual yesterday...I used it and when I made the choice to not go to get fast food I visualized myself having weight melting off of me!

Hello Kay, I am Suzanne (my family calls me Suzi). I am 44 years old, have 4 kids (3 boys and a girl), a daughter in law, and 2 dogs...my oldest son is 25 (wife 24),23, 21 and daughter is 15. I am a marriage crisis counselor. What about you?

I did really well on my goals yesterday after this post. I didn't post this morning and I didn't do as well today...as you say, not as mindful. But yesterday I weighed 3 lbs less!!! Yea! I did ok on drinking water, and I went for a short walk, but wasn't as mindful as I would like to be about my choices. Tomorrow morning I plan on posting first thing and make goals for the day.

How did you do on your goals?

I am working on eating mindfully and making mindful decisions, in other words not living so mindlessly. If I thought about the consequences of my choices rather than immediate gratification, life would be so much easier.

Yesterday went well. I didn't stress over anything and paced myself by say "no" to myself at times.

Hey everyone. I am the new Kid on the block and wanted to know if you all have any tips. I did the Paul McKenna life adjustment (I don't like using the word diet!) a while back and lost 20 lbs. I got out of the healthy habits and poof...they all came back! I am now wanting to get back into those healthy habits. I need accountability! So, anyone game for holding me to the plan?? Does anyone have his meditation CD? Do you use it each day?
