Pru I am sorry to hear about your leg! I am having my own battles With my legs as well. It is a daily struggle just to keep walking. It’s really hard knowing where I came from to where I am again but like Mr. D. told me once… It is just a place in time… I need to worry about today. With no insurance I can’t get into PT to work on some issues to even start exercising my legs again. HOWEVER, that being said…. I am still managing to get to the gym a few times a week. Anyway…. Yall have a good weekend. Just wanted to say hi. 

Hey girl. Nice to say ya. Let's see what is going on. My mom is in remission from small lung cancer. She moved in with us this'd past December. Work is crazy. My knee has been acting up and they want me to have surgery on it again. But log is to crazy right now. Oh I joined plan fitness.

OMG..... I got on!!!!! It's been months and months and months!!!!! My email got hacked.... couldn't use it anymore and for some reason, it doesn't like my password from my phone or my home PC..... so on a lark this morning I tried on the work computer! YEA!!!!!! CPT.... doing the happy dance.

I have Missed yall and missed yall and missed yall. Lord knows I need the motivation right now. I can't hardly believe I am on here. woo hoo!!!!!! (or that my work PC will let me on!!!! I am really struggling again but am motivated at the same time if that makes sense.

I need yet another hip replacement (the other one) and am having issues with doing any kind of lower body work out or cardio. ANYWAY.... I am so happy to be back I could just piddle.

SO..... tell me how everyone has been doing!

For my part I'm not aiming for hard core any more. Between age and injuries, I'm not sure that is possible any longer.

I never left Spark, Pru, we just stopped trying to keep each other accountable!

I'm still plugging. A lot going on but I'm confident the trend will allow me to live a healthier lifestyle. I'm trying to avoid stress eating by not requiring myself to diet right now. Exercise continues and for the most part balances the extra calories in.

I was in Michigan this weekend and it was so cold!! I was glad to get back to Cincy but the swing from 40 degrees to 70 is a bit extreme.

I'm refocusing again so I don't lose the gains (or gain the losses) that I've already made. I'm even further off of my long-term goal, but my waistband is still reasonable. I just need to bring out my inner monkey and pump up my efforts a bit.

Wow. That's a lot of travel.

I think the Spark notification may be goofy again today. I didn't get a notice of your post. I'm glad I decided to check anyway.

Food is low on my priority list this week. Exercise and housework are near the top. If I can just push through and be productive the next 2-3 weeks, things should start to ease.

I'm back from vacation! It was a mixed bag, as far as staying on track. I ate too much but did a TON of walking. I'm still bloated so I'm not logging my weight yet but it looks like the worst case scenario is a 2 lb gain.

I'm seeing a chiropractor next Monday and am looking forward to getting some advice on how to move forward with exercise. In the mean time, I'm hoping to head back to the pool tonight!

I'm having a great start to the week. I decided to get up early and head to the gym. It felt so good to get in the pool and swim. All cardio; no joint strain. Aaaaah. Whew, lost a lot of time on here. I ran 16.2 miles last weekend (5K saturday, Disney Princess half-marathon Sunday) and this morning ran 3 miles and walked 4 at the American Heart Association run/walk, whew! Somewhere in there, I've also had a lot of work to keep up on. I'm trying to catch up effectively, but I leave for a conference in a week, so I'll probably be busy prepping for that as well. Yikes! I have decided that it's time to buckle down on food since I'm done racing for a while, so I'm backing off carbs and snacks. Keep at it all, and Cin, great loss, keep it up before your vacation!

I'm still plugging. I think I'm going to be ok at least through the first week of March. Then I face a disruption while I travel to Florida w/ Mom and LilSis, which I think will be worth the disruption. I think my exercise habits are becoming ingrained, which is great.

I don't have plans for major changes between now and then but just keeping up with what's on my plate right now is enough of a challenge.

I swam last night as though I was being chased and I'm exhausted from it today. It's such good exercise though. It feels like such a treat to spend time in the toasty water when it's cold and snowy outside.

That's the plan, Ivory. Whenever I try to make up for slips, I end up slipping again faster. I'm just trying to jump back on where I left off. At least I posted a loss again this week. Still wish they were going faster but it will come with consistency.

Well freezing rain happened, but I did my 12 miles through a combo of track, treadmill, and elliptical. I also did some grading, and now I have to do more to stay on track. Going to be a busy week of work stuff!

Sorting is a good idea, I need to get on that this summer for sure, but I'm always too busy during a semester for much extra beyond my stack of grading.

I'm not sure if I'll catch a break with the weather today or not, one site says freezing rain, the other says mostly cloudy with some showers. I'd love to run 11 or 12 miles, but if it doesn't happen, I'm not worried.

Wow, Ivory, that's coming up quick! I'm sure you'll be prepared.

I spent this Saturday almost the same as last: gym, sushi splurge, empty boxes at home, collapse. Actually, last Saturday eve I ran errands. Tonight I hope to rest a few minutes longer, have a light dinner, then do some more sorting. I'm determined to purge more than fat!

Chugging is important, that's how the little engine that could made it, right! I'm onward with my plans and not getting too derailed, although it's been the wrong TOM for sticking with eating. I did get up and go to the gym yesterday early just in case the storm hit, it didn't but I had already worked out, yay! I'm just two weeks from my half-marathon, so the workouts are more important right now anyway.

I'm feeling less woo hoo today, mostly due to the ache that's carried over from the cramping I experienced during my Tuesday swim. But I'm doing extra stretching and tonight is water aerobics rather than laps, which should be a bit easier on the old legs.

It's Woo Hoo Wednesday and I'm finally starting to feel like a real monkey! Yesterday on top of the morning Wii, workday band workout, mid-day walk and my planned swim, I spent 25 minute on the track at the gym doing a fast walk workout. I've downloaded some new workout music, club-rap type, that is really fast paste and motivating. I pushed my way through leg cramps in the pool to get my full hour workout and though I ache today, it's a good ache.

Anyone else getting up to some good monkey business out there?

Happy Monday! I'm certainly ready for a good week. I still have a bunch of prep to do today for this week of classes, but not much. It's snowing still, and I hope it stops before I have to go in.I actually had a pretty good weekend, considering how much my husband wanted junk food. We made some wings and homemade jalapeno poppers last night, which were way better than buying either of those, both in terms of taste and health.

It's been snowy and cold here. We will see a slight warmup but I'm glad my exercise plan isn't weather dependent. I miss running though, even in the cold and snow.

I was very productive this weekend and pretty much hit all my marks. I'm getting to bed too late though and my weigh in tomorrow will probably show it. Oh well. At least I have all my oatmeal prepped for the week and enough lunch/dinner consonants that I should be able to stay on track.

Hope the monkeys have a good week.

Well, we got a bit off today because I got up and did some laundry and my laundry room flooded because my pipe was frozen. Thus, my whole Saturday thrown into disarray that has ended in my dining area full of stuff from the laundry room and us going out to Chinese buffet for lunch. Glad you are still plugging Ivory. I'm doing the same. I'm not going to be home tonight so tomorrows am exercise will be a challenge. I forgot I need to come up with a good 10 min routine. Hopefully I'll get up early enough to go to the hotel gym. Otherwise I'm plugging along. I upped my calories starting last night thru Sat to account for the birthday celebrations but think I can do it in a same manner. With planning. Sat will be the truth teller. I probably won't be back on Spark until Sun or Mon.

Welp, I'm still here! If I was going to miss my morning 'workout' it would have been today. I spent 65 minutes in the water last night, moving the whole time. That's on top of 35 min yesterday. My friend was late and I wanted to stay and spend time with her and I just didn't realize how tired I was. And I had errands to do after that so I slept hard and long last night.

On the bright side, even though I'm not seeing movement on the scale I'm feeling differences in my body. I have a splurge planned on Saturday so Monday's weigh in likely won't be great. I'm just going to keep watching the physical changes in hopes the scale doesn't bother me as much.

That's why I'm confused, Ivory, I can't think of a single explanation for the lack of loss. I don't eat out much so it's pretty easy to trace sodium. I drink plenty of water. And I've never had a water gain hold on for more than 2 weeks.

Doesn't matter. I'm adding swimming, as I've probably said. I just need to stick with the plan for another couple weeks. It may well be that my decade of losing and gaining, along with the loss of my gallbladder, has finally destroyed my metabolism. Hopefully if I can keep the activity regular, keep eating well and get better at sleep I can knock things back into motion. If not, to the dietician I will go.

Sleep can definitely affect you, and if you see a loss between weigh-in days then it will likely catch up with you again. Did you have high sodium or higher carbs or something like that? Your body might just be grabbing water and holding on to it. Try keeping your carbs/wheat way low the 12-24 hours before weigh-in.

I didn't get on yesterday because Tuesday is my busy day, but I did eat just about right and get to the gym for the first time since before Christmas! Met a lot of students, and there will be even more today. At least Thursday is mostly repeats, too many names already!

So much for waking early. I did get the minimum 10 min on the Wii in but now my gym plans are being thrown off. I may just swim two days in a row.

Sleep is still an issue. I don't know if that's what is affecting my weight or if I'm moving less than I think. I should be losing 2 lbs a weight, if my calories in/calories out calculation is anywhere near close to accurate. 1 lb a week would be ok if I hadn't set a deadline for myself to get below 200. And it would be less aggravating if my Wii Fit hadn't logging a 2 lb loss since yesterday. My low days just aren't showing up on weigh-in day.

I had hoped to be more productive on my day off today but I'm still trying to regulate my sleep schedule. After running errands I came home and fell asleep. I'm still sticking with the exercise after waking but I need to be better about waking early. That's the goal for this week!

Got in 6k steps yesterday which is good for a weekend day with no specific exercise plans. We had so much fun I forgot about dinner until I got home, which was later than planned. So, late return led to late dinner which led to late bedtime and late wakeup today. But that's ok for a Sunday.

Getting on the Wik for a moment then heading out to breakfast. Today is chores, more Wii, ST, and maybe a walk in the cold sun.

Great going Cin! I ran/walked 7.8 miles, so that's good. Off to a busy Sunday between church stuff and prepping for school.

I'm going on 5 days now of getting up in the morning to exercise. I'm planning to carry it through the weekend, which will be a big test, but I've got it on the schedule so there's not excuse. I'm checking out a gym with pool tonight. If I like it, I'll join so I can kick up my cardio without stressing my joints.

I had a big bad splurge last night but could have been worse. I took the time this morning to confess to my work buddy and to write a blog listing the good, the bad, and the way to avoid it in the future. I'm not usually that detailed in response to splurges. I'm hoping this new tact will help moving forward.

I'm checking weather reports and decided that since it's way below freezing today, Sunday, and Monday and randomly will be almost 40 tomorrow, I better do my running tomorrow! I'm slowly finding my groove again and students are back on Tuesday!

Yeah, Pru's last blog said she was fine, but the family is taking much of her attention.

Great job Cin! Keep at it and I think you'll adjust and fell asleep better. I'm pretty exhausted today because it was a long, tough day and i missed my usual afternoon nap. The next two days should be pretty chilled out though, which is nice.

Well, I'm up to exercise before work for the 3rd day in a row. I really wasn't sure I'd make it. I'm so tired. But I'm confident that my body will start to accept this new schedule and start going to sleep earlier. I've been in bed by about 10:30 each night but haven't slept until around midnight. I really hope tonight is different. I'm tired. Did I say that already?

Cpt, we need to hear from you. I'm giving you until noon Eastern then you're getting a text!

I hope we hear from Pru soon too. I think she had some challenges come up and is now radio silent. I just want to make sure she is ok.

I actually got up early and exercised before work! I don't know if I'll be able to repeat tomorrow morning but I'm going to try. I have an early call tomorrow though so I'll have to pop up right at the alarm. I'll be crawling into bed soon to make sure that happens.

Weekends are always hit or miss. It's easier to post updates from the office.

I'm exhausted but having trouble falling asleep. I'm sure it will come soon. Considering I'm still feeling the effects of my cold, I did pretty well this weekend. I didn't get everything done if hoped but put a dent in it. I even kept up with healthy food and exercise, which is always harder for me on the weekend. I'm hopeful that I'll stick with things for a while.

I had a rough night last night and it made for a bad morning. I got into work a little afternoon. I keep sleeping too much but at least I'm not overeating. I'm still sick enough that it's hard to truly judge what's affecting me. It could simply be the combo of reduced calories and a full work week on top of the cold that is affecting me but I just can't tell. I feel too icky.

And today it's warm and we have rain in the forecast, a perfect recipe to prolong this head cold. I'm just trying to stick with the basic healthy habits, avoiding wheat, eating freggies, and getting regular exercise.

Here's hoping I can stick with it through the weekend!

Has your cell# changed? I still have it from a year ago. I'm happy to check in with you if I don't see you post a couple times a week. Ivory and I have been good so far about posting every day this week so hopefully it won't be so lonely here.

I'm with you on the vowing to change. I'm 18 months shy of 40, when I was sure I'd finally have this weight off. I know there's no way I will consistently lose 2 lbs a week between now and then but I'm determined to come close. Even if I can just move from obese to overweight, it'll be a huge victory.

hey guys! I have been gone for a few weeks since the holidays but back now. For some reason I don't get messages when anyone replies to the thread. Hmmmmm Anyway... I need it. I want to get this weight off and quicckly as I am about to start making some major life changes. In the long run it will be for the better but in the short term it is going to be the biggest challenge I will have faced in my life. Can't go into it here but .... it's going to be BIG. That's really good Ivory! The running anyway, not the roosters. I'm still having sleep issues. I came home and crashed yesterday then got up at 11:30 to eat. I was tempted by frozen pizza, which I usually overeat. Instead I sautéed some chicken and veggies and put it on frozen nan, added some cheese and baked it in the oven. So I still had a sort of pizza and still ate a little too much, but at least I ate fewer calories, fat and carbs and ate more protein.

It's all about the small victories right now. I don't think sleep is going to change until this cold passes.

It's 7am, the sun's not quite up yet and the roosters next door are having a crowing contest. Good thing I've been up since 5:30. I ran yesterday! 3 miles in 37 min which is not too shabby for not having run in a while. I'm still keeping up on things and the good is improving though slowly. Balance would be nice. It's hard to find it when I'm sick though. I'm trying not to push things but fatigue comes faster than expected. Dinner plans for tonight got pushed up to last night which actually worked out. I did ok in eating and went to bed a little early. Now I have tonight to catch up on a couple chores. I can see I'm starting to fall into a cycle of pushing too hard followed by resting too much. I pushed Saturday, did nothing Sunday. I pushed yesterday, and I need to make sure I do something tonight. I need to cook my hubby, who now has my cold, some soup and while that's cooking. Wii Fit sounds good. I miss it and could use some lower leg small muscle work. And the Wii music has been running through my head for several days.

Good for you Ivory. This is the week I try to kick-up my focus on tracking, cold or not. I've synched my fitbit to my Sparkpeople account so I can keep everything in one place. I'm still not ready to start serious food/fitness programs but it's at the top of my mind. I managed to lose 3 lbs over the past 3 weeks, in spite of holiday excess and a prolonged illness. I'm hoping that's a good sign for the future. But I've also updated my weight tracker to reflect my current reality so it's depressing to see it jump up so high.

Tough Love. Hoping it pays off over time.

Happy Monday! That sounds better here than when I say it to my students. I won't see them for another 2 weeks though. I know some people with fitbit and they seem to Iike it. My sister who has been staying with me is leaving tomorrow so that should put my schedule back to normal, especially food wise and housework and stuff because my husband is kind of stressed out with her being here for so long. She's also bad for talking us into eating bad things.

Sorry to disappear again but I've spent most of the time since Christmas in bed with a nasty cold. All my plans to kick off the New Year with a bang are out the window. I'll regroup when I feel better, which may be another week. I'm just trying to get enough freggies and the occasional walk into my daily schedule.

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

Happy Saturday! Finally got myself our of bed on time this morning for the dirt time since classes ended, that's a good start. I want to get my food back on track but I'm having minor plumbing issues so its tough right now. Getting on track may have to be a real New Year resolution.

My weekend is pretty quiet, one party tonight and lots of work to get started on!
