I am, and I used to spend a lot of time there, as evidenced by my 12 boards, 4.8K pins and 544 likes! Then I figured I'd never make any of those crafts if I just kept looking at them and just pinned them, so I don't spend near the time on Pinterest now that I previously spent.
McJulieO and I worked on a few projects this week that we found on Pinterest.
My "pin" name is CraftTeaNonna.
Take a look at my quotes board if you have time. I've tried to collect mainly illustrated ones that mean something to me.

I see them a lot. Mostly, you just have to remove https:// when you post. Anyway, this was a fun site. Could color it and make it your own.

I see that the address I listed had that https prefix again. Sorry. Don't know why all of those are showing up in the addresses I've been posting lately.
Thanks for adding the other address!

Thanks for this one. I am struggling with freeing my mind enough to make a meaningful 2017 to do list. This will help. BTW I turned this into a PDF and put it on my desktop for future reference. Easy to do and I saves me time when searching for a prompt.

37 Art Therapy Techniques for De-Stressing

www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/art-the

"Art therapy is a form of therapy predicated on the belief that artistic expression has the power to help us in healing, in self-esteem or simply in chilling out. Itís unique in that most other forms of therapy rely on language as the foremost mode of communication, whereas art requires something different, something harder to define."

Yesterday (December 1) was the first day of Lisa's 12 Days of Christmas.

For the first twelve days in December there will be daily posts, giving away printables, collage packs, zines, postcards, and more. Lisa Vollrath is using a scavenger hunt format this year, so you have to search in different areas of her various websites to find the goodies -- but it's an easy search because she gives hints. Be sure to peek in every day, and grab whatever's posted.

I may have recommended this site at another time. Shelley Klammer, a Registered Counsellor and a Registered Expressive Arts Consultant/Educator, has several free e-courses on her Expressive Art Workshops web site. While most of them offer various prompts and exercises to help with emotional healing, there are benefits, for taking the courses when dealing with physical illnesses and body pain, as well.

I took one of them that was free last year, the Heal Your Heart with Intuitive Collage workshop. It is offered this year for $10 or $25 or $40, whichever you would like to pay. I felt that it really helped to ease my mind when I was dealing with several months of daily migraine headaches.

All of Shelley's workshops look really interesting, but another that I think I might try someday is the free 30-day Photo Therapy class. Also, I think her Daily Journal E-Courses, that were inspired by Julia Cameron's "Artist Way" morning pages, might help me dig deeper while writing morning pages.

I just watched another episode of Make it Artsy at makeitartsy.com/index.htm .

This episode 105 will just be available until November 18, 2016, but after that time, Episode 106 will be available for a week. Mary Hettmansperger, a metalsmith, had another segment on this episode (105) where she showed how to create various patinas on copper. If you see this post after that video has been taken down, you can click on the project tab and see photos of her work and you can download the project instructions. I was so intrigued with this project -- and the other 3 projects on this episode are interesting, too.

My PBS station has not picked up this series yet. Hopefully they will someday.

Cat -- Don't know if you had time to watch this episode, but the second guest, Mary Hettmansperger, demonstrated how she crafted metal hinges from copper and used them for books and jewelry. The instructions can be printed out under the "Projects" heading, and the artists' websites are listed on many of these project page links.

Looks like the line-up for future shows includes a variety of different mixed media artists!

This is from Julie Fei-Fan Balzar's blog on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

Inspiration is not about copying a project one-to-one, although if that's what works for you, rock on with your bad self. For me, inspiration is riding a ripple -- When you throw a stone into a pond, it creates little ripples.

Following this metaphor:

Seeing a beautiful object = Finding a Stone
Making a note of it mentally or photographically = Throwing the Stone
Creating a project that is tangentially related to that object = Riding the Ripple

I love tunnel books, although I have never completely finished one. This is a detailed tutorial about how to make a tunnel book using pre-cut purchased chipboard pages. The artist's supply list is long, but like she says, she has all the supplies on hand and is just showing you the different ways they can be used.

This Joggles blog consistently has interesting tutorials about various projects.

I may have mentioned "The Painter's Keys" earlier in this thread. If so, I'm writing about it again today because I have read so many good, helpful articles over the years that I've been subscribed to the blog.

In today's post, Robert Genn gives some excellent advice to artists in his article "One to Another." And just as our team is called "All Kinds of Crafty," this advice applies to all artists and crafters.

Good for you! There is so much out there, and it's fun to just play around.

If you sign up for the Cloth Paper Scissors newsletter, they end up sending free tutorials on all sorts of crafts to download every couple of weeks or so. I know I have downloaded some beading tutorials, as well as all sorts of paper crafts. They are part of that Interweave group, and they have so much to offer.

Cloth Paper Scissors also has a Facebook page, and I don't always see it or remember to check, but on most Thursdays on Facebook they have a Throwback Thursday promotion and they give away past copies of their magazine or other Interweave magazines. I just missed a 2006 edition this past week!

Alisa Burke is just as creative as she can be, and I came across this recycled rose pillow today. The roses are made using fabric scraps of various kinds, including old t-shirts. Thought some of you fabric artists might enjoy seeing this tutorial.

When you have time, be sure to take a look around the rest of her website, too. Alisa lives in Seaside, Oregon, near many of you. She is not teaching any classes in her own studio in 2015, but some of you might want to check back for classes at a later date.

alisaburke.blogspot.com/p/about.html

Alisa Burke offers lots of creative online classes, too. I loved watching her video promo about her online class called "Beneath the Surface," a class dedicated to creating unique, one-of-a-kind painted, printed, or dyed fabrics. I found this video (which is also on this page for her class) on YouTube, and you can find other videos of hers on YouTube for inspiration, too. After you see this video in the link below you can just imagine a whole quilt made with your own fabrics!

Here's a great resource for artists that I got from artist Bebe Butler's newsletter. She calls it "a goldmine of royalty free imagery for collage, background, sketching inspiration, transfers, etc etc etc." Most all of these are copyright free, but be sure to check the rules for use.

Cassie Stephens is an elementary art school teacher in Nashville, Tennessee, and she writes blogs about art projects she has prepared for her students and posts pictures of the artist-inspired outfits that she makes and wears to her classes. If you ever need a breath of fresh air, take a look at her blog sometime and you can just feel the passion and energy that she takes to her classroom.

In the blog that I've linked (July 28, 2015) titled "Back to Art Teacherin': What to Wear and a Giveaway!," Cassie has posted photos of the outfits, shoes, and hats that she has recently made, painted, felted, appliqued, etc. for herself to help inspire her students. I can't get over how creative this young lady is! And maybe these fashions will inspire you to go out on a limb and create something you are passionate about.

Although I am definitely out of practice now, in my "former life" I used to do a lot of calligraphy commissions. I came across this YouTube video today, "The Art of Hermann Zapf," on the purposes and techniques of calligraphy, presented and produced by Hallmark in 1967.

Zapf, a noted calligrapher and typeface designer, recently died on June 4, 2015, at the age of 96 in Darmstadt, Germany.

(Sorry. I've edited this post several times now and can't get the link to work correctly. If you are interested, please do a YouTube search for "The Art of Hermann Zapf." It's 18:55 in length.)

Have you ever heard of "Not Martha"? Lots of different crafts here, including baking and cooking experiments. I'm not saying they are healthy foods, but interesting -- like how to make flower- shaped pancakes!

This great TED video presentation by Susan Lenz is 21 minutes and 37 seconds. It spoke to me on so many levels, and during the talk she is stitching the whole time. Wait until you see at the end what she has created!

I highly recommend that you take time for yourself and hear this message, "Making Plans for Your Precious Possessions."

(I apologize, but I am having trouble posting this link. Please search YouTube.com for "Making Plans for Your Precious Possessions Susan Lenz.")

In this particular YouTube video, artist Pam Carriker is talking about the value of keeping an art journal. These encouraging words could probably be applied to other media, as well. This video was uploaded in 2011 to advertise for one of her classes, but I liked the inspiring message of taking time for yourself to do some sort of art work every day.

Sorry. For some reason I tried several times to add the link and couldn't get it to work. If you're on YouTube, just type in "Artful Gathering Inspiration Video pcarriker." It's 10:01 in length.

Here's a video tutorial for a cute little handmade gratitude journal with a free template for pages inside the book. I haven't made one of these -- I just use a blank journal for mine. But I'm thinking about making these up for my grandkids and then teaching them how to make additional ones for themselves after their first journal gets filled.
(Looks like she printed the pages on card stock so that there is no bleed-through on the backs.)

Here is a different kind of creative site -- one full of art quotations from Robert Genn's "The Painter's Keys." You can do a search by the author's name or by the category.

I hear you about keeping your hands out of the fridge!

I enjoyed taking a mosaics class one time, but I considered myself pretty much a failure at my ceramics classes. I just couldn't get the hang of it! Although I really enjoyed the process, my finished projects just didn't turn out like I had envisioned. (I'm reminded of the "Nailed It" photos that you see sometimes on Pinterest -- my poor little pieces were nothing like the model!)

Hello... Thanks for all the website! I enjoy all kinds of crafts, so these are great! Currently I'm enjoying a ceramics class to make a few things for my home and garden. I also enjoy sewing, scrapbooking, rubberstamp card making, beading, and want to explore more of crafting by repurposing materials. Hoping by keeping my hands busier I'll keep them out of the fridge :) Cat

I was looking up information this morning about March being National Craft Month, and I found this site. Looks like it's mainly for Ceramics, Fashion, Decor, and Jewelry -- which means that we could all probably find something on these pages that we like!
