Good for you! There is so much out there, and it's fun to just play around.

If you sign up for the Cloth Paper Scissors newsletter, they end up sending free tutorials on all sorts of crafts to download every couple of weeks or so. I know I have downloaded some beading tutorials, as well as all sorts of paper crafts. They are part of that Interweave group, and they have so much to offer.

Cloth Paper Scissors also has a Facebook page, and I don't always see it or remember to check, but on most Thursdays on Facebook they have a Throwback Thursday promotion and they give away past copies of their magazine or other Interweave magazines. I just missed a 2006 edition this past week!

Alisa Burke is just as creative as she can be, and I came across this recycled rose pillow today. The roses are made using fabric scraps of various kinds, including old t-shirts. Thought some of you fabric artists might enjoy seeing this tutorial.

ed-roses-pillow-tutorial.html

When you have time, be sure to take a look around the rest of her website, too. Alisa lives in Seaside, Oregon, near many of you. She is not teaching any classes in her own studio in 2015, but some of you might want to check back for classes at a later date.

alisaburke.blogspot.com/p/about.html

Alisa Burke offers lots of creative online classes, too. I loved watching her video promo about her online class called "Beneath the Surface," a class dedicated to creating unique, one-of-a-kind painted, printed, or dyed fabrics. I found this video (which is also on this page for her class) on YouTube, and you can find other videos of hers on YouTube for inspiration, too. After you see this video in the link below you can just imagine a whole quilt made with your own fabrics!

Here's a great resource for artists that I got from artist Bebe Butler's newsletter. She calls it "a goldmine of royalty free imagery for collage, background, sketching inspiration, transfers, etc etc etc." Most all of these are copyright free, but be sure to check the rules for use.

Cassie Stephens is an elementary art school teacher in Nashville, Tennessee, and she writes blogs about art projects she has prepared for her students and posts pictures of the artist-inspired outfits that she makes and wears to her classes. If you ever need a breath of fresh air, take a look at her blog sometime and you can just feel the passion and energy that she takes to her classroom.

In the blog that I've linked (July 28, 2015) titled "Back to Art Teacherin': What to Wear and a Giveaway!," Cassie has posted photos of the outfits, shoes, and hats that she has recently made, painted, felted, appliqued, etc. for herself to help inspire her students. I can't get over how creative this young lady is! And maybe these fashions will inspire you to go out on a limb and create something you are passionate about.

Although I am definitely out of practice now, in my "former life" I used to do a lot of calligraphy commissions. I came across this YouTube video today, "The Art of Hermann Zapf," on the purposes and techniques of calligraphy, presented and produced by Hallmark in 1967.

Zapf, a noted calligrapher and typeface designer, recently died on June 4, 2015, at the age of 96 in Darmstadt, Germany.

(Sorry. I've edited this post several times now and can't get the link to work correctly. If you are interested, please do a YouTube search for "The Art of Hermann Zapf." It's 18:55 in length.)

This great TED video presentation by Susan Lenz is 21 minutes and 37 seconds. It spoke to me on so many levels, and during the talk she is stitching the whole time. Wait until you see at the end what she has created!

In this particular YouTube video, artist Pam Carriker is talking about the value of keeping an art journal. These encouraging words could probably be applied to other media, as well. This video was uploaded in 2011 to advertise for one of her classes, but I liked the inspiring message of taking time for yourself to do some sort of art work every day.

Sorry. For some reason I tried several times to add the link and couldn't get it to work. If you're on YouTube, just type in "Artful Gathering Inspiration Video pcarriker." It's 10:01 in length.

Here's a video tutorial for a cute little handmade gratitude journal with a free template for pages inside the book. I haven't made one of these -- I just use a blank journal for mine. But I'm thinking about making these up for my grandkids and then teaching them how to make additional ones for themselves after their first journal gets filled.
(Looks like she printed the pages on card stock so that there is no bleed-through on the backs.)

I hear you about keeping your hands out of the fridge!

I enjoyed taking a mosaics class one time, but I considered myself pretty much a failure at my ceramics classes. I just couldn't get the hang of it! Although I really enjoyed the process, my finished projects just didn't turn out like I had envisioned. (I'm reminded of the "Nailed It" photos that you see sometimes on Pinterest -- my poor little pieces were nothing like the model!)

Hello... Thanks for all the website! I enjoy all kinds of crafts, so these are great! Currently I'm enjoying a ceramics class to make a few things for my home and garden. I also enjoy sewing, scrapbooking, rubberstamp card making, beading, and want to explore more of crafting by repurposing materials. Hoping by keeping my hands busier I'll keep them out of the fridge :) Cat

Wow, AJ, thanks for that site link!! I'm nearly ready to move back into my craft room!! I've been amassing the craft supplies from all the four corners of my house so that my once upon a time upstairs office will prepare for her changes!! I'm sooo excited to find (in the sorting of things) some very old crafting/journaling techniques used by gr8 aunt Nora before the journaling craze. Anyway... I just love this plexiglass journal- in fact the entire site is incredible, so if you get the chance, be sure to take a peek:

What a great site, Anna! Thank you for posting. I love the format for those journals.

Hey, Team -- Be sure to also look at the Flickr photos that are referenced in that link. It's fun to see all the different interpretations that came from that first journal idea.

I looked at the Facebook hotlink, too, but unless you are a member of that group, you can't see anything there. But on that Facebook site was a link to a tutorial by Kate Crane about how she made one of her journal pages.

I just discovered Jennibellie on YouTube, and I've been spending several hours the past few days watching her videos on making journals from recycled materials.

Here's her website:

I've been saving cereal boxes and old greeting cards for a couple of years, and now, thanks to Jennibellie, I know what I want to do with them!

This week's "Artellagram" e-newsletter by Marney Makridakis is chocked full of creative tidbits.

I laughed when I read this sentence about her family making their own Christmas cards: "As a child, I remember actually being shocked when I learned that not every household turned into a factory during the Holidays!"

Here's the link to the current newsletter:
