So glad I noticed this! I garden, do water aerobics, etc. but have never counted it as part of my walk. Just the miles my pedometer gave me. This will really help as I like to try different things and it would sure be nice to get a little further for a change!!! Thank you everyone for bringing this to our attention!

First time to read this old thread but it is a golden oldie --- still good after all this time!
I use the fitness tracker for a range of activity types --- as long as it qualifies as "fitness". However, I use this group site for tracking only miles of "serious walking" (or bursts of running) to see how far I'd be if I was moving along the interstate.

I think your steps tracked can be however you want them. I decided to only track my aerobic steps on my steps tracker, but then, in the place where you can add a note, I make a special entry everyday: steps, aerobic steps, kcal, miles. That way, I can give myself credit for everything. At least, that's the way I've chosen to use the step tracker on the fitness tracker.
That's a big help, as I'm on the elliptical now that it's cold and the half marathon is over.

I know for me,as a busy mom, I sometimes don't have time to do a real workout but I make a concious effort to add exercise everywhere I can, like walking in place while brushing my teeth, etc. For that reason I just use the pedometer.

My formula for converting is 20 min of any cardio exercise is a walking mile. If I do a one hour water aerobic class, it is equal to 3 miles. If I bike 12 miles in one hour - I count it as 3 walking miles.
However, I do not call walking around a store grocery shopping or getting up from a chair to go to the bathroom exercise. Just a personal opinion.
