The smart pop pocorn isn't that bad for you also fruits and veggies are a good idea if you are at a party portion control is the key small amounts and eating a healthy meal before makes it easier to resist.

I know the parties are over so I hope you managed to curb your choices and stay within sparking range. As a caterer you might find some healthier recipes for favorites, introduce new ones and maybe even include some sparkling exercise to boot. Good luck and many wishes on keeping it where you want it.

A couple of suggestions that I got from fellow SP friends for parties are to throw out your plate as soon as you are done eating. And the other was to only take a tablespoon of the foods you want.
For a restrant I have been removing my plate from in front of me as soon as I have finished eating, and cutting the serving in half putting and boxing it right away.
You may alter the place to which you are going; but you cannot alter the place from which you have come.

My suggestion for the parties- eat healthy prior so you don't go into it hungry and have lots of fresh veggies. Great crunch and low on calories! My favorite is cauliflower. There are some great dips you can make with fat free yogurt. The last party I hosted we had lots of veggies available (some junk also) but the veggie platter was the biggest hit of the night. In general my philosophy is nothing is "bad" or "off limits". Usually just knowing I can "have" a certain something makes it less of a focus for me. USUALLY! Portioning out those snacks you like is fine. I do that too. The 100 cal. packs have been working well for me when a sweet craving hits. The salty stuff is more problematic for me. A serving makes me crave more of some things. I'm still experimenting. As for popcorn -I grew up in a household where popcorn was the meal some nights! I got rid of the microwave stuff and bought an air popper. I weigh it out before popping. Spray a little butter spray on it and whatever spice I'm in the mood for (NO SALT for me!). Hope something in this ramble helps.-PJ
Don't be afraid to try things you think you would have never eaten before. You will be surprised I was.

DAZMENU: Everyone here has great suggestions. I recently switched my eating up a bit, focusing more on higher protein, lower carb, higher fiber, and healthy fats and eating 5 small meals a day (kind of following the 5 factor plan). The results: I am feeling fuller longer, I am not hungry so I do not find myself snacking, and am down over 2 pounds this week (and it's only Wednesday!). My 2 "snacks" (smaller meals) are foods like Weight Watchers string cheese, almonds, grilled chicken strips, all natural peanut butter, an apple, 1 slice of whole grain high fiber bread or yogurt.
How is your exercise? I also switched my routine and get up at 6:00 a.m. to get it done. That has been the hardest change but it has been worth it and at 6:00 a.m. I am too tired to give myself excuses NOT to go out there and run! LOL
Hang in there - we have all been in your "lost some, gained some" boat.

I just bought some soy crisps...they're kinda like mini rice cakes, but made of soy. I bought the BBQ and Ranch. Haven't tried the Ranch, but the BBQ is AWESOME!!

Look for a snack-sized nutrition bar. Zone makes a chocolate peanut butter one that I like with only 80 calories. It also has 5 or 6 grams of protein in it.

I have discovered dried cranberries, blueberries and others (those two are my favs) and slvereda almonds. They are a good snack. Also the single serving popcorn microwave bags that are low cal, also help with fiber and are filling.

Good Advice here...snack foods made by man are the worst choices. My worst habit is snacking and I have to work hardest on that and plan better choices. Cottage cheese with fruit, yogurt, or string cheese with turkey lunch meat wrapped around it. For the crunch I miss from staying away from, I use Go Lean Crunch...I add a bit to salads, my yogurt. On Ak Mak crackers I use hummus or Reduced fat all Natural Peanut butter. My diet style always links a protein to the GOOD carb. This helps keep your insulin balanced through the day. Also...choose healthy as possible for the catering so that you can make good choices! Deb

I am a firm believer that when you try to stop doing something, the only way to succeed is to replace it with something else. So, when you stop eating the popcorn and Ritz, and cheese, and Pringles, and Gold Fish, you need to replace them with other snacks. I know it’s not easy finding a snack that immediately will be as satisfying as a Ritz or Pringles. I was a big Pringles fan and it was hard giving them up.
I starting eating those puppies as soon as I was old enough to eat snacks, thanks to my dad. So, when I got older, that was my snack of choice. I was a big Ritz person too, and boy did they go GREAT with some cheese on top. Eventually, I learned to cut back until I no longer crave them any longer.
Also, If your friends are supporting you, that’s great. You need people around you who won’t have the wrong foods around to tempt you. If they want to eat the Pringles along with you, then until you get more willpower, you need to try spending less time around them.
When it comes to snacking, in stead of having all those things that you know will sabotage your progress, try cutting up some apples or having some raisins or a handful of peanuts or maybe some vanilla yogurt with some fresh strawberries cut up in there. You can create other nice healthy snacks too. However, if you find that you cannot seem to give all of those things up, and MUST have them, then try this. Just have one. Give up everything but the Gold Fish or maybe the Ritz, and let that one thing be your only snack you cheat with. Then, portion out half a serving size into ziplock baggies. Get yourself several baggies and put your half a serving size into them. I say half a portion size because I think if you’re going to snack on things like that, a whole portion size is way too much.
If you portion out the appropriate amount, force yourself to stick with it. You have to be willing to sacrifice and push yourself to the limits. You can do it and it’s easier than you might think it is. I’m not saying it’s easy, but it’s just easier than you think. Just push yourself and surround yourself with people who will support you. That’s the best advice I can offer.
Good luck and stick with it. You can do it, just do not give up. Push yourself!

Why not start by having HEALTHY foods at your Parties. and remember to PORTION control. Your biggest problem is the hardest and thats your snacking. Try switching your ritz ,cheese ,chips to things like FRUIT or a Salad. Baby carrots or cucumber slices are great to snack on. Hope this helps. Joanie

My favorites are grapes, baby carrots, rice cakes, fat free, low sodium pretzels.
Those are all healthier than cheetos and pringles! But you still have to practice moderation. Unfortunately!

Hi Team,
I was so proud of myself when I lost 6lbs, but not only did I gain my pounds back a few was added on. And I know why, yes I drink my eight glasses of water and I still go for my daily mile walks. But I can not stop snacking popcorn, Ritz, cheese, and Pringles potatoes chips Gold Fish..
And to add fuel to the fire this month seems to be everyone’s birthday I know including mine. This weekend I am catering a birthday party for me and my daughter, the next week I will be catering for my girl friend. Less just say that from May26-July 4 it’s one big party after another. And I am starting to blow up like a balloon.
Anyone got any suggests on some heather snacks that are also enjoyable. Please give a fellow Spark a hand. Keep On Sparking
