That's what I've been *trying* to do, I just ordered a (few) more copics this morning, hopefully that will be enough (for now!)

yeah... I'm still trying to find my favorite combinations, too. Blonde and red are my hardest ones, too. I don't seem to have a problem with the brunettes and black hair... I think when I'm done with this last grad paper I'm working on I'm going to spend some time refining the hair color combos I have and figuring out what I need to round out what I have...

Thanks Pam!!
I've been doing lots of research this weekend and trying to figure out which markers I need to order to get the "perfect" hair color combos. I'm all set with blacks and brunettes, it's the blondes and reds I'm not sure of??
Do you have a favorite combo you keep going back to for those colors??

That card is absolutely adorable, Amy! You're nephew will love it! I know what you mean about having a hard time parting with it, though!

Thanks!! I visited copic color last night and signed up and they were pronouncing it as well :) I learned to read before I learned to talk so I have a lot of words I can spell but can't pronounce :)

It is cOpic. There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube, but nothing beats taking a class. Make sure you are using the right paper because that will make a HUGE difference!

Okay, is it cOpic or cAHpic? No one around here knows LOL!!!

Practice, practice, practice! Hardly anyone "gets it" right off the bat. If you can take a class, that really helps understand the color coding system. It's rather important.
There's a new online color community called Copic Color where you can keep a personal marker inventory, upload images to a gallery, create favorite color palettes, network and learn. It's at copiccolor.com.

Awesome! Sorry to hear the store where you taught classes closed. That's a HUGE disappointment!!
Thanks for the link! As a certified instructor yourself, do you have any specific tips?

I am a Certified Copic Instructor and I love, love Copic Markers. I recommend going to http://ilikemarkers.blogspot.com/ which is a site by the Copic product specialist/ product director. She has great information on there.
My Copic classes were the most popular classes at the scrapbook store where I taught. Sadly, it closed in February.
I've never posted on a team page, so I hope I did it right!

Yea how fun! One of the scrap stores in Wichita has a Copic club. It was full last time I checked, but this summer I may investigate into it more. It is a 2 hour one way drive for me, so I'll have to see if it is in the budget!
I ended up getting them from ellenhutson.com....VERY good prices and super fast shipping!
I was at one of my local scrapbook stores last week and they are having a Copics class on the 29th, so I signed up!!
I'm also planning on attending the Creating Keepsakes Convention when it comes here in April, I went to the class schedule and found 3 Copics classes! I'm going to take 2 out of the 3, the third one is more advantaged using some of the spritzing tools, that I know I just won't ever use. I think for each class you get 2 or 3 markers, so I'm really excited for that ;)
To the right of the bundle packs are a small description of the Copics used, click on the CLICK HERE and watch the tutorials on the hair and skin coloring....VERY helpful!

Hi everyone... Off the subject for a moment... except for introducing myself to my groups, this is my VERY FIRST time posting to a group! Yeah me!
Back on subject! I was at a stamp convention here in Ocean City, MD in May, 2009 and saw a rep from Gary Burlin demoing the Copic Markers. They were very expensive then, & when I caught the demo it was the end of the convention & I had blown all of my budget, except for the money that I wanted to spend on stamp pads in their booth. (I had gone with a shopping list & had stuck to it! Good for me!)
Anyway, if you have a stamp convention coming to town near you any time soon, anyone selling them and doing demos should be able to do a demo for you. They want to sell merchandise, & the more expensive the better for them - demos are a great way of doing this. And the sets of these markers are a great price point fro them to do demos for.
So just ask! And if that vendor won't do a demo for you, ask another. And check your program... if Gary Burlin is there, trust me, they WILL do an AWESOME demo, and be happy to do it, and their prices are competitive - but only at conventions. Otherwise they only sell wholesale.

Not trying to jump the gun here, but...
While we're on the subject of copic markers... does anyone have any links for great tutorials for blending and coloring with copics? I've seen a couple, but I know I need to see more and read more so I get more out of my markers when I use them. I've seen BEAUTIFUL work done with them and I'm just not there yet and it baffles me... any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

I got my Copics in on Wednesday!!! SUPER fast shipping and they included a yard of ribbon as a thank you gift! I will definitely be ordering from them again ;)
I want to play with my markers today, so see how they work and then figure out my list for the next batch to get ;)

That's a great site De AND they have GF stamps!! WooHoo!!
These are the ones I decided to go with, I figure once I get them in I can figure out which other ones I *need* to have right away?!
I'm with you, Amy... $4.99 is a good deal when all I ever see them listed for at other places (around me, which isn't much!) is $6.99. Just my two cents...

There are sooo many to choose from!!
I don't have a hobby lobby and Ellen Hutson.com has them for $4.99, which I *think* is a good deal??!
I'm trying to print out the color chart, but it keeps printing too small...I'll have to work on that later.

Cindy hasn't gotten back to me on the copics. She may be on vacation. But you're getting some good advice from others!

They sell them at Hobby Lobby, but I can't remember if you have one by you. I used the 40% off coupons and buy them one at a time. The selection at my HL is not the greatest but it is what I have for now.
To start - try to think of what stamps you want to use them with. If you will be doing people you might want some flesh tones. The blender marker takes color out which can be a little confusing if you just go by the name. Before I bought I watched several you-tube videos of people demonstrating and explaining the coding system on the colors. I try to buy 2 at a time when I buy (this requires my son or DH to also take in a 40% off coupon). I buy 2 that are a shade or 2 apart to use for shading.
Amy... go to www.ellenhutson.com to get your Copics. She has an AMAZING selection of copic markers and her shipping is super fast and reliable! I ordered some for my birthday back in September and I had them within TWO days! She's out of Seattle, but she will ship the same day when she gets your order, and usually it's priority, so you get your order fast!

Amy, I've got a friend who swears by copics. She also likes coloring & shading, which I don't much. I'll ask her & see what she recommends.

Ok, so I have some money from Christmas and my Birthday and I wanted to invest in some Copics. I'm overwhelmed by the selection and don't even know where to begin!
Any suggestions on which colors to start with?? I'm thinking the most basic / universal or the ones I'll get the most use out of.
Also any suggestions on where to buy??
Thanks!!
