Hello team!

I had to come off of my diet as was losing weight too rapidly. I did not want to become sick. So, I am returning to the job of "chef" to two housemates and myself. I am happy when I cook, so there you have it. I will put the JoAnna M. Lund recipes to good use! Go JoAnna M. Lund Sparkteam!

Instead of keeping my pedal exerciser at my office desk, I placed it in my living room. No longer in such a small place. Go Stationary Bike Sparkteam!

I submitted an article yesterday to the newspaper I write for on the topic of forgiveness. It was rather hard on me as I have some people in my life I am having a struggle with forgiving. So, I did not preach (as I would have been an hippocrite) but basically said if you forgive you are giving your own self a gift.

While organizing my office yesterday, I found book after book that I bought and never read yet. Some fitness, religious, cookbooks...even a new English bible... My Catholic bible has worn out pages, my Joyce Meyer bible I do not understand. So, I picked up an English bible at a thrift store and will start reading. I understand Psalms and Proverbs, but the rest of the bible is so hard for me. Anyone else have difficulty? Go Christian Living Sparkteam!

Today is guess what? Coupon day! I got a tip in an e-mail that there should be three inserts today! I do not have a newspaper subscription but I have friends who save their coupon inserts for me. Hey, one person's trash is another person's treasure! Go Nifty & Thrifty Sparkteam!

Well, I am a plain as ever girl today. Perhaps if I had a man in my life I would fix myself up. I usually will not leave the house without my hair and make-up done. People still criticize my application. I like lots of make-up and big hair. However, when you are around two girls almost twenty-four hours a day, why bother? Go my beauty and singles Sparkteams! Give me a good kick in the petunia!

I now have a baby crockpot bought by a friend at a yard sale! Woo Hoo! I just have not figured out what to make in it yet...any recipes? I figure it would be good for dips. Go crockpot team!

Well, I will sign off for now... Go Steelers!

Hello team! As I was on vacation to my hometown, I only had Wi-Fi once or twice. So, I am STILL attempting to STILL get caught up on work, Sparkpeople, chores and activity.

As I am a leader of the JoAnna M. Lund Sparkteam, while over the vacation, I reviewed alot of her cookbooks that I had loaned from the library. A quite interesting lady.

On the other hand, I have started a new diet that I found while reviewing a Woman's World magazine over vacation. There is not even a name for the diet. However it is easy and doable...Cheerios w/ 1% milk for breakfast, a frozen entree for lunch and dinner then it called for Laughing Cow cheese for snack but it is too expensive for me so I substitute yogurt. I even had coupons for the Cheerios and yogurt! I am wanting to lose 10 pounds by atleast Christmas.

So, as you can tell, I spent alot of vacation reading on fitness and nutrition.

I hope you are having a good middle-of-the-week! If you have anything you want to talk about, tell all of us.

Remember, get in those 10 minutes of acitivity!

I am attempting to figure out what small changes I need to make each day. Which change is more important. Do I need to focus on more exercise? Do I need to eat better? Do I need more sleep? I do not want to stress and do all. Know what I mean?

How about you? emoticon

Hello everybody! How are you? I hope well! What are you up to this Sunday?

Well, as for myself, I am excited about dinner... sweet and sour meatballs in the crockpot...

I am so mad at myself for not wearing make-up. Because of the criticism from people when I DO wear make-up, I have become accustomed to NOT wearing it.

I went yard saleing yesterday and got some REAL bargains! Tons of books... cookbooks, fitness books and religious books...

I need to start weighing myself daily... I just hate what the scale says...

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday... Be good!

Today, I did research for work then went wild with Pine Sol in the kitchen...Just because you are poor you do not have to be dirty.

I am so tired of living below poverty level. Do any of you have this problem?

Well, my weekend has begun. Going yard saleing tomorrow so I will hopefully find some nifty items for gift baskets to sell. Comes in handy.

Be good!

Hey team... Right now, I am looking like a wet rat, as I just took a shower. LOL

I have the crockpot fired up with potato wedges and onion then will prepare a big garden salad to go with it for dinner... I am using up produce before it goes bad...

I cannot wait to see my momma tomorrow. She is making the trek here to spend some quality moments with me... I hate living so far away from her...

Wish me luck on my job today...

I am addicted to my Sparkteams! You members rock!

Well, I want to curl up in a ball and take a siesta but I need to check on the teams then work...

Be good, get in those 10 minutes and spread your spark!

Just thought I would "play" for a minute with you...
For dinner today, I am being simple... Sloppy joes with baked potatoes. This is something BOTH housemates like... which is nearly impossible to do.

No make-up today and bad hair day.

I will have to weigh myself today... If those pounds have creeped on I will not be happy...

I have research, writing, editing and publishing to do today... I am tired because what I need to research just is not out there.

How has your week been? I love that it is the weekend but not that the month of August is half way over... I would love to move to a warm climate for the winter but do not want to leave family and friends...

Well, get in those 10 minutes, spread your Spark and be contagious with fitness and nutrition!!!!!

As for my last post, I have given up on pedometers! Every single one I have ever bought (about a million of them) has not worked! I guess I could ask Santa Claus for a fitbit, but I do not want to be greedy.

I always make sure I get in those 10 minutes. It does make a difference. I may be stuck at a plateau but atleast I am not gaining.

Today, I had a hot dog and mac-n-cheese...a real 6 course meal. Tonight, I am going through the kitchen cupboards and figuring out what I am fixing this week for dinner...I, in other words, will be doing a pantry challenge.

What is a real challenge for me? Making dinner with my crockpot every day! All I have to do is throw stuff in and it does all of the work. Atleast I can get work done of my own.

Have you ever thought about using a crockpot? Less stress!

Have a wonderful Monday!

I really do not know how people can afford fitbits. I guess I will forever be poor. I just use a simple pedometer.

Sometimes when I am doing chores I can really boogy in some steps. If I am not too tired, I use my pedal exerciser.

How has your day been?

Hey team! How have you been? I hope well!

What do you like and dislike about this team? Is there any way you think I may improve it?

Do you sometimes go over the forums but not post?????

Have you been on a new diet or lifestyle? If so, would you share? Maybe you can inspire!

Have you been weighing yourself? Are you staying hydrated? Have you been getting in atleast 10 minutes of activity? (I do...but am guilty of not always logging in the activity... LOL) Have you been getting in some "me" time?

I ask you all of these questions as you are so quiet. Sure, there are a few faithful members, but do you know how many inactive members there are? Many. When I started out with the team, I saw potential. I will give it a while, because I do not like to give up. I am doing my best.

Be good and have a wonderful weekend!

I am on a blessed vacation with family! My mother and I love to
find frugal stuff AND get in our walking. She knows my self-esteem
was kind-of low as I have had no "new" clothes, always wearing
clothes with stains, bleach spots, etc.

So, yesterday we went to a going out-of-business sale where I
was able to find 5 pairs of leggings that were 50% off $9.99!
I could not believe it!

Then, today, we went to GoodWill where purple tags were 50% off and
yellow tags were $1.50. Well, I needed summer shirts badly. Almost
every single shirt I got had a yellow tag! The icing on the cake?
Two Joyce Meyer books for a $1.00 each!

I do not mean to sound like I am bragging. I only get things when
it's frugal. The exercise is not too shabby either. So, to you my
Sparkfriends, have a good fitness and frugal weekend! Spark on!

I have a method that makes me lose the pounds.
I cannot prove it to you as I often don't
log in my weight. However, trust me, I do
have a method...peanut butter and jam on bread,
english muffin or tortilla wrap, sometimes with a
salad. I don't feel hungry, my blood sugar stays
really good and I really like it!

ENTER housemate.

My housemate relies on my cooking of her meals.
The first thing in the morning, she asks, "What
are we having for dinner?" Well, I made her
Cincinnati chili and beef with vegetable stew over the
weekend and guess who gained ALL that weight again?
Exact.

So, I am "just saying no" to the housemate's
food peer pressure! She should be supporting
my efforts to lose weight!

When I stare at a pound of fat, I know I have a
major job ahead of me. I get mega-motivated!
I have a picture on my Sparkpage that I will share
with you to also remind you of what it looks like...
all "1" measly pound of it. I have 45 pounds of
this stuff to lug around! How about you?

What upsets me, is that I always I feel like I
have to "work" for survival all day instead of
"work-out" all day for survival. It's not like
I make millions or anything. I think about this often.

To be specific, I make pennies per article for a couple
of websites. I just feel like saying to heck with such
slavery and work-out all day without a care, like a
millionaire's wife who doesn't have anything to worry about.
Am I making sense?

I shop on clearance, buy at yard sales, shop at
Salvation Army, shop at Dollar Tree, etc. My housemates and I share rent,
most groceries, etc. It isn't like I'm not "frugal"! LOL

God does give us a gift and expects us to use that gift.
Mine would be volunteering as contributing editor of
a religious newspaper.

Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we
only have one! I think about all those pounds of fat
my body is lugging around... So, I have Sparkpeople
and exercise to do.

Thank you. I now know what to do.

I am so excited that I found a frugal fitness item at a
yard sale this week...a fitness pedal exerciser...never used! If you
are not familiar, you can use it as a bicycle from wherever you are
sitting.

I will be doing my exercise mostly at night now. I find it to
be the best for my schedule.
I went through magazine after magazine today for reviews work,
but all of them so far have been duds...I could have spent
all those hours on my Sparkteams!
Thanks for being you and for not giving up on the team!
We can do it! Spark on!

I have been eating lots and lots of peanut butter and jam on bread, tortilla wraps, English muffins, etc. It is so delicious and I cannot get enough. The protein isn't going to hurt me (LOL) and I only use a little jam. I usually make elaborate meals in the crockpot and have to wait hours for it to be finished (not having food until finished) so now if I am hungry, voila! Instant go-to nutritious meal. Besides my housemates never appreciate me. As a matter-of-fact, one of my housemates isn't even talking to me. Well, she is not renting space in this head of mine! I hate talking about people, but do you see where I am coming from? She is used to me making her meals for her every day and NEVER says THANK YOU. She wants fried potato wedges every night. So, I'm done griping.

I KNOW WATER IS GOOD, but the water retention is getting on my nerves!
Then, my thirst is never quenched. I have every water enhancer
imaginable! So, then I drink plain for a while and still
thirsty for more. I like iced coffee but cannot afford to drink
specialty coffee all day long...(as I like flavored coffee).
Iced tea is good, but the very minute I make it, my housemate
runs a dashing sprint to it and drinks the whole thing, leaving the
pitcher empty.

Any tips?

Today I am doing ALOT of laundry.

I have a big collection of Leslie Sansone DVDs, but over the usage, she got sooo annoying. Well, I kind-of miss the "sister-in-sweat"... So, I might dust her off later on tonight.

I used to drink tons of Kroger-brand sparkling seltzer water...I hated the taste of bottled water,
faucet water, you name it. But I literally got sick of the sparkling seltzer water. So, I kept my stash of it
then bought bottled water and flavored water enhancer. NOW, I am SICK of bottled water! Well, I whipped
out my stash and am back with the sparkling seltzer water and it tastes sooooo good. Quenches my thirst like you
wouldn't believe. It is energizing where bottled water makes me so tired. Well, just had to tell you my
story of the day! "Water" you doing? LOL

Hello! As your new team leader, do you have any special requests regarding the team? Do you like the forums? I did some Spring cleaning with them. Your former leader seems like she was a really nice girl. It will be hard to live up to her standards! Anyway, I hope this team shines! We can be fit...O.D.A.A.T.!

We are just back from 6 hours working on the Sunday School room...We had to tear down sound barrier that they had glued to the windows...no small feat as the windows are 6' square and hauled sheetrock and debris down to the dumpster...that is 3 full flights of stairs...I was up and down them so much.... I don't want to count them.

We vacuumed, swept & mopped the floor, layed carpet, and made the circle of folding chairs today.

Now we need to paint at least two walls...they painted the ceiling a maroon, 2 walls dark dark green and 2 dark brown...it will take at least a gallon of klitz primer and one gallon of paint to cover each wall....if we are lucky.

There is an old saying...what doesn't kill you will cure you..
We are looking at covering the green walls...windows on one side with radiators and the opposite one...these green will now be ivory to lighten the room and we hope to get gold drapes by winter...I am thinking I can just get sheers in a gold color for now.

So ivory walls freshly painted and the dark brown walls opposite.
The carpet is a light tan and does deaden the sound in the room as well as pick up the tan in the sofa. For now...that maroon is gonna stay there. ...that ceiling is too darn high!

I have to see if I can take the seat cushion covers off the sofa so I can wash them...I hope I hope as that sofa is grungy... if they don't come off then I shall have to bring my shampooer in and use the furniture attachment to clean it...soon enough for it to dry before Rally Sunday.

There is a bulletin board that needs repair of one of its legs too.
That's it for now we are exhausted- bye

emoticon Good Morning!
I had a terrific day yesterday. I cut away the dead evergreens that died this past winter...orange evergreens are dead Fred.
My rib didn't like me using emoticon the loppers...I guess. Planning to transplant a rhodo there and some shade loving plants: Lady's Mantle, wild ginger, etc.

I also picked up a 3 tiered bird bath fountain that I need to re-finish.
I am working on getting outside to enjoy a bit of every Summer Day we have. Last night was so clear for emoticon star gazing too! Have a great day today!

A lot has changed since May 18th..our first 70F day. Temps continue to vacillate. This morning it was 50F and appears this is where they will stay today.
rainy morning here...last night the air was so saturated looked like fog I thought we were having hail because the rain came down and was so heavy the raindrops looked like they were half dollar-size raindrops
Our Meteorologist Paul Douglas says this has been the wettest (Jan-May) on record for 144 years!
It is a great day to prep meals to serve when the sun and heat return.
It is a great day to make lists of things to be done.
It is a great day to organize an area that needs it.
It is a great day to read a book.
A wonderful day to visit the Conservatory or other indoor gardens,,,even garden centers!
Or even watching a video of gardens around the world.

Look who came to visit our yard today...Cuddles spied it from our French Doors and had to go out and take a look! Cuddles discovered a Blandings turtle in our yard this morning!
In other states they are endangered. They are protected in Michigan.

The last few days we have had so many birds visiting our yard or flying over it that include: lots of robins, mated cardinals, goldfinch, blue jay, bald eagle, herons, chickadee, song sparrow, cedar waxwings, heard a catbird or a mocking bird, a little blackbird don't know what it was, and the blue birds are nesting. We have more birds than the aviary around the lakes in Minneapolis! Anyone interested in birding should love Anoka County!

So far 2 dozen daffodils have bloomed plus all my forsythia bushes! Happy Mothers Day! emoticon

Today is a gift...enjoy it emoticon
The leaves on the trees are the size of mouse ears!
My goals to complete this growing season:
working on getting new steps and landing made for kitchen door- our primary access to home with a gable roof overhang to protect the landing from snow & ice. Then a new driveway, aerating the lawns, bringing compost, horse manure and wood chips to the gardens, removing extra lilacs and old fashioned phlox and transplanting perennials and re-doing the daylily bed and the blue garden next to the deck.
Did you know that wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, and Queen honey bees can sting multiple times. It is only the worker honey bee that can only sting once because they have a barbed stinger that comes out as they sting and they die.

evening everyone,
we just came in from burning off more brambles, dead rose canes, pine branches, etc.
remember when i said i went wheat free and didn't have vertigo anymore? well, yesterday while on our trip i was...as my grandson says...glutened! the only thing i had that could of been a problem was some fries with a hamburger without bun, lettuce & tomato at a restaurant. i asked ahead of time and they said no wheat in the fries...i told dh they appeared like they might have wheat...i.e. some people dust the fries in flour to make them crisp. but i was assured no wheat...and since then headache and some vertigo. i surely hope this doesn't last because i have glorious weather to work in my gardens and i need to look down without a problem...it started as i was at the computer...so hoping it is working itself out of my system

Yesterday was a rough day. We had severe thunderstorms and it knocked out all of our power for 12 hours. They finally got it back up and running at 2am this morning. Had to use our camping stove to cook by last night and kerosene lamps for lights. Thankfully it didn't last any longer than it did. Today it's nice out although still a little windy. We drove around earlier to see what damage the area had. Here it wasn't too bad.
Hope everyone is having a great day today.

Any weekend plans? We aren't doing anything special. I just got back from the library. I've gotten hooked on a book series by Robyn Carr ( The Virgin River series ) and once I start one of the books I don't want to put them down. I've got the whole series to read so I'll be reading a lot the next week or so. I can read one book a day so I have enough for 9 days. I just took back 8 books of the series. They are sooooooo good.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Had an unexpected half day off from work. So happy to get a break. I would have loved to have just come home & do nothing. But instead, I was a busy bee and actually got a ton done. Including going to the gym.

I'm going to try & weigh myself at work tomorrow. I don't think it's going to be good. emoticon

Quick Sunday night check in:

I've got 2 days off in a row & so much to do.
Today I got the patio furniture put away. Very late, considering I live in Chicago. But it was 60 degrees, so I really lucked out, with the weather.
Also made a nice dinner, which I have not done in over a week.
Yesterday, my yougest daughter & I tackled the dog and did her nails. It was a fight to the finish. Some crying, showing of teeth and some pretend biting. And the dog wasn't too happy either. LOL - *sorry, feeling kinda silly*
I do love when the dog lightly 'bites' & then licks the spot, as if to say she's sorry.

Will try & pop in again tomorrow - take care all.

Thank you so much Lisa!

It was so hard and I'm actually surprised I was able to pass. I have been working on the floor now, and it's very stressful. I'm not used to working so much, and was very surprised at how hard it was on me, physically. (as well as emotionally) I'm grateful for my coworkers, who are so wonderful and supportive of each other. We are a united front, against the hostility of the long term employees.

I wish my weight loss was further along too. Everyone says "Slow and steady is the way to go for weight loss." We need to stay strong & just do the very best we can, each day. We will get there!

So proud of how great you did at the buffet on Thanksgiving. What a great accomplishment to confront that holiday crowd. Everyday you get stronger. So keep your head up, because you are doing amazing!

Katd, that is wonderful how well your doing with your job. I hope that you know that I am thinking of you during this very busy time in your life. I think that you are doing an awesome job.

I am making it. I havent stuck myself away like most holidays and this is a big one, I have continued to move forward although I wish my weight loss would have been further along but as we say one day at a time.

Last week was rough! No exercise & poor eating. Lots of stress and not enough sleep.

The good news is I passed my 2nd assessment test at work, last Friday. Still have at least 2 days of class work left to complete.
Feel like this week has gotten off on the right foot. Got my bimonthly packet finished & sent to my boss, got all my errands done, got to the gym, then went to the grocery store and then came home & made dinner. It is amazing what you can get done, when you have a day off.
Haven't tracked my calories yet, but I am hoping my calories are in range.

Wed. Check In:

Feeling so nervous about the upcoming test on Friday, for my new job. I can't get the formats right. It's so crazy hard, one missed / or * and its wrong. Everything has to be typed out, in some ancient DOS code. I can not believe that this system is still being used, when there are perfectly good windows systems.
It's certainly faster to point & click, then to type G*1234-BRITE/20NOV/MCOPVR

Friday Check-In:

Kitten,
Sure hope you feel better soon. It always seems like every cold & flu bug is out & about, in the fall.

Today was a so-so day at work. Next week we start our 9 days of training. It's going to be hard, I sure hope I can pass.

Another hot day is in store for us here. I am not feeling so hot today with a really bad sore throat. I hate when I get them because they seem to last forever on me. I has so planned on exercising today but I just dont see how I could do it feeling the way I do. Its from this weather going up and down. Katd, we lived for 4 years up in WI so I know the cold you are talking about and right now I would give anything for that cold weather... emoticon

Oh how I would love it to be hot enough for A/C. It's way to chilly, here in Chicago, for my liking.
Super long day, at work. I left at 5AM and got home at 10PM. I'm trying to spend a few minutes on SP, before I go to bed. Tomorrow is an even earlier day, I'll be leaving at 3AM. At least I'll be home before 2PM.

Good morning hope everyone is having a good start to today. Its sunny and hot still here in Amarillo. Yesterday my daughter was even able to go trick or treating without a jacket or even a long sleeve shirt under her costume. This is such a hard change for me and DH with us just moving from WI in June. And our apartment complex keeps turning off the AC even though it is still reaching 80 and above. They turn it on and off about three times this last month, its reaking havoc on me with my Fibro and DH because we are so used to it being around a high of 40 to 30 degrees by now.

Hi All!

So happy to have you all posting here!
I feel so bad that I haven't been able to post too much. I've got a new job & am still working my old job. Still, no excuse for not being checking in.

Will try and do a better job this month.
