Thank you.

Having a time with candy...I'll go for a few day, and than zoom eating candy. Fortunately the habit is begining to make me feel bad, and that helps.

I have a couple of bags of Epson Salts in my greenhouse; but I forget why.

Lawn Treatment

With the Epsom Salts, sprinkle lightly over your lawn then water till no salt crystals are visible. I would apply it at least once month, or after every other lawn cutting, till your lawn, shows improvement.

If you want to do flowering shrubs such as roses or ornamental trees such as lilacs.
Dig a wee 2 inch depth trench around the plants depending on the plant make sure the trench circumference is approximately the width of the flowering shrub Sprinkle with epson salts, cover with soil and water till the earth wet.

Do you just sprinkle the epsom salts on the ground? I am really interested in using this, especially on my lawn since I'm trying to stay away from commercial fertilizers.

ORGANIC GARDEN REMEDIES

BANANA & ORANGE PEELS
Before you toss another orange or banana peel into the trash, stop and think about the potential benefits you may be throwing away. Like other kitchen scraps, these peels can be added to the compost bin or used directly in the garden as a replacement for chemical fertilizers or insecticides. You can use the peels to minimize household waste, reduce the use of chemicals and beautify the landscape.

COMPOST
Using banana and orange peels in the compost pile might be the first idea that comes to mind. Composting is the use of decomposed organic materials to replenish nutrients in the garden. The process combines the benefits of natural fertilizer with the benefits of minimizing waste materials. Two key ingredient types are needed to make balanced compost, including brown materials, such as dry leaves and straw -- materials that add carbon to the mix. Green materials, such as grass clippings and weeds, add nitrogen to the mix. Orange and banana peels are “green” ingredients that add nitrogen to the compost pile. As an added bonus, bananas also offer high concentrations of potassium and phosphorus.

Gardening with Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is a popular and well-reputed supplement in organic gardening. With the recent push towards “green” living, Epsom salt is an ideal answer to a variety of organic gardening needs. Both cost effective and gentle on your greenery, Epsom salt is an affordable and green treatment.
Completely one-of-a-kind with a chemical structure unlike any other, Epsom salt (or Magnesium Sulfate) is one of the most economic and versatile salt-like substances in the world. Throughout time, Epsom salt has been known as a wonderful garden supplement, helping to create lush grass, full roses, and healthy, vibrant greenery. It has long been considered a planter’s “secret” ingredient to a lovely, lush garden, and is such a simple, affordable way to have a dramatic impact. Just as gourmet salt works with the ingredients in food to enhance and bring a meal to its full potential, Epsom salt enhances fertilizer and soil’s capabilities to bring a deeper level of vitality to your garden’s composition.

Ultra Epsom Salt is the highest quality Epsom salt available, and is widely celebrated for its powerful benefits on natural life, ranging from household plants to shrubs, lawns and even trees.

My great grandmother told about Epsom Salts her plant booster, some 40 years ago. I have used Epsom Salts all my gardening life. I must say it is very economical to use also.
