I picked my green tomatoes and made Green Tomato Salsa as we are going to be gone for a while again and didn't want them to freeze.

If I know that a hard frost is coming I will pick all my green tomatoes. I store them in flats coverd with a layer of newspaper in the basement. I have had the last of my ripened green tomatoes at Christmas dinner. Just watch them & make sure you get the bad ones out.

I was told that if you put some in a brown bag with a banana they will ripen quicker. Never tried it so I cant swear by it.

As long as you don't have a frost, let the plants continue to grow. Cut them down/pull them when the 1st frost is probable. Any tomatoes that have started to turn, turn light green/white will usually ripen. Those that are still really green usually don't ripen but can be used for fried green tomatoes or green tomato chutney etc.

We had some pretty cool weather last week with evening temps dropping into low 40s.

We are now having 80* days this week.

At what point should I pick all my green tomatoes and let them try to ripen in the window?

Blessings,
Heidi
