I am sorry you didn't get to see any thing of the OZ!! LOL
I live in the world of "Wizard of Oz"!!
My town has the Oz Museum, Oz Winery, Toto's Tacos and even the Highway through town is offically named "The Yellow Brick Road"!!! LOL
We have a house on one of the main corners of town and it has the Bad Witches' legs sticking out from under it!
And now they are making plans to paint the new water tower like the Hot Air Balloon in the story!

Once a year in October we have an OzFest and we have a couple of the Munchskins from the movie come and spend the day. The grandson of the author of the book also comes. It is always a fun day!

If you ever get to go through Kansas again be sure and stop in Wamego, just off I70!!
Small town but many things to see!!!! LOL

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.

Hi Jo, My husband and I traveled cross country recently from Va and stayed one evening in Goodland Kansas. We boondocked in the parking lot of Walmart. We didn't see Dorothy,TotO, or the good witch. I tried to get hubby to talk with the munchskins but he thought I meant I wanted to get something to eat at Walmart. That day we drove 13 hours from Missouri. We tried to get to the border of Colorado but didn't quite make it. We really wanted to stay two days in Kansas but the movers were waiting on us, so we had to speed it up.

I would also love to see some pictures of the desert plants. My brother lives in Nevada and I know he always struggles with his landscaping.

javagirl- you know there's a pot brewing somewhere...

That all sounds so interesting. Do you do any photography?
I would love to see pictures. If you have photos you could add to our Team Photo section.
The things you plant sound like a strange country compared to Kansas where I live! LOL

Sounds like a fun adventure!!
JO

Hi all,

Been busy fall planting. Does anyone else live in a desert area? My hubby and I recently moved to Moab, Utah. We planted a few trees called chinese pistache which are suppose to be salt tolerant. In addition, we planted a few shrubs; a desert mountain moghany and a apache plume. We also put in a few flowering plants (sulphur buckwheat, paper flower, navajo tea, and a penstamon pamsi) We are slowly uprooting the tumbleweeds that took over our 5 acres due to the wet winter and spring of last year.
