No children here.
If there were I would make homemade goods, wrapped with a Bible verse and my name and address.
In the past I've put an explanation of All Saints Eve, and All Saints Day, folded up beneath the cookie.
If I didn't have time to bake I'd give away the good stuff - anything with chocolate.
I'd use the leftovers if any, to bake with. Mini Snickers bars are great chopped up and put into cookie dough instead of choc chips, etc. You can make cookie dough ahead and either freeze it in scoops or freeze it in logs.
The rule with candy in the house is:
(1) you can have the bowl and a scissors ready, but no opening of the bag until the first doorbell rings; no excuses like you need to mix them up etc.
(2) and get rid of immediately after. Either freeze, throw in the trash, or use in baking RIGHT away. No later than the next morning. No time for that? Fine throw it away then.
When I used to buy chocolate, I'd use the leftover chocolate and the jack o lantern the next morning for baking pumpkin tube (bundt) cakes, loaves, pumpkin cookies with choc chunks, pumpkin cheesecake, etc. Many freeze well for future use and let you get a leg up on Thanksgiving baking (in the States; Canada's is already over), or can be brought to work parties / bake sales / gift to the hostess when you go to a friend's house for dinner.
