Regarding my order with Burpee this winter: I ordered floating row covers which were in stock and they never shipped them. I called and found out they had CANCELED my order but hadn't notified me by phone or email and hadn't credited my credit card. I have never had such a bad experience shopping online. I finally got it corrected with many calls to customer service, but I learned my lesson and won't be ordering there again.
I haven't considered ordering live plants online, just seeds and garden equipment I can't find locally.
If you order plants or nursery stock, most places ship them at the optimal planting time for your area. You can check with the site to find out shipping/planting times for your zone. The things I ordered won't be shipped for a couple of weeks yet, but I had expected to wait.

I also ordered from Burpee and it took over a month to receive part of the order. I'm still waiting for the rest.

I guess it depends on what you are ordering. I was going to order seeds online but Found some great buys and selection at Bordines Nursery in Michigan.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Burpee. I've ordered from them in the past. Last year I ordered a perennial garden from Spring Hill Nursery. I have been very happy with them. At first I was a bit surprised at how small the plants were, but with a couple of exceptions, they all did well and everything is coming up again this year. They are good about replacing things that die with no hassle. I placed an order with Gurneys this year, but am still waiting for the plants.

I have also ordered several times from Park Seed and have had no problems.

Has anyone ever bought anything garden related online? I had a bad experience with burpee.com and I'm wondering if anyone has a good website to recommend. I'm mostly looking for seeds, as the selection around me is somewhat limited and don't have the best varieties for where I live. Thanks!
