Back home from "college". Laptop hard drive died so I didn't have internet since I was to hardheaded to open Embassy Suites Wi-Fi on my phone. Wife asks why I got a smart phone if I don't use it and I said to see grands when we talk.

Thanks Rusty. I am so happy I got this surgery now and it has done so well.

Will keep Francie & her Mom in my prayers. It just seems more than one person can bear. I just feel so bad for her.

Martha, I hope you are doing well today.

Francie just posted on FB that her Mom has been admitted to the hospital with very low blood pressure and Infection. Francie finally got the shot in her knee plus a cortisone in the bursa below the knee. She really needs prayers, so much to bear at one time!

Rusty, my new knee is better every day and the pain I do have now is nothing compared to past 7 years. I still do my exercises every day and feel better every day. I feel very blessed.

Martha, I am so excited about this new adventure that I feel like I need to pinch myself. My MIL and I are going to have so much fun decorating and arranging furniture, buying new things and planning things. She has a great eye for decorating and looking at something old and making it look new. Now to get all this stuff gone through and packed...WHEW!!

Tricia, you would not believe how much I sold and gave away so I could move into this 2 bedroom apartment! So many things I could use here but didn't think I would need at that time. Your moving is a new/great adventure! Have fun!
Rusty, we are so blessed if we would just look around but most of us just complain without thinking how it sounds.

Blessings surround us if we only look. Friday afternoon I was visiting with a younger and much lighter man who was struggling to walk. He explained that he had just had his knee manipulated so it would bend after knee replacement months ago. I was walking with ease, compared to the previous 3 years, the 3rd day after replacement. I did not know how good I had it and still enjoy it.

I'm actually enjoying this cooler weather except for my joints. They are complaining about wet, cool weather. My MIL and I canned 15 pints of salsa today, probably the last of the tomatoes for this year.

Well we got approval on house and hoping to close by November 6st. Now on to packing. WOW how do we accumulate so much stuff? Have cleaned out china cabinet and most of dining room stuff we are taking. Biggest thing next is cleaning out the desk. We won't be taking much furniture with us since the new house is fully furnished. So we'll be getting rid of some of the furniture we have and some will stay here if my sister-in-law & her husband want it. They will be moving in here when we move. I'm more excited than I can possibly say. This was my husband's brother's home and he passed away 2 years ago today. I think he would be very happy that we are getting to buy his home and enjoy it.

Glad you're back with us Rusty. I missed your wit.

Sat. and Sun. I had to turn on the heat, looks like we will be back in the 80's by Thurs. I have never heard this before, someone said they thought we were having squaw Winter, new one for me.
It's Fair time in Craighead county, I live close enough I might be able to hear some of the things going on. The ladies in our Sunday school class said that the traffic is terrible here on 49 north during Fair time, it's good to have a road that goes around this highway. Since the hospital went in we are getting more businesses being built, literally by the day on this highway. Would be nice to own some property to sell about this time emoticon

Thanks for noticing my absence, Uverse showed up Saturday from the Phillipines and repaired their problems and replaced my equipment. I was getting trained in tasers so I wasn't there but wife was home with her mother this weekend to see son in golf tournament (his team won) and she let him in and I now have internet at home again.

This news just breaks my heart about Bill and Francie. I feel totally helpless knowing what to say or do for them during this difficult time. All I can do is pray for them both and be there if Francie needs me.'

I am worried about Rusty. It's been awhile since we heard from him and he's not in the Healthier Arkansas group either. Praying all is well.

Francie wanted me to post this to the team.

Bill has been placed on Hospice care. He has opted out of chemo due to his liver cancer being stage 4 and metastasized. He had one big one time radiation treatment on his back. We're just taking it one day at a time and leaving in God's hands. He is a faithful Christian and I know he is ready even though it breaks my heart. He has lost about 40 lbs since May. They have him on Fentanyl pain patches and Dilaudid pills. They're trying their best to keep him comfortable and as pain free as possible. I appreciate everyone's caring thoughts and prayers

Uverse is out so I have no phone or internet until the boat from the the Asian Islands send a repair man.
Hospice can be a time to enjoy and prepare for the transition. For my mother it helped the family a lot. Everyone visited with knowledge and the quality of time spent seemed to be higher. Prayers to the family.

emoticon Tricia, it sounds like the Lord is in this and when He is, it will work out better than you would ever expect! You will need to share photos with us. When my husband passed I really had no plans but it seems things just happened, and most were not what I expected, but it worked out so well and very quickly, so I knew the Lord was leading me here.
I haven't seen any signs of Rusty, which is unusual. Francie doesn't do or say much on FB so I guess they are just living day by day and I know that's even hard for both of them.
We do need more members to make this a good team, and I admit, I sometimes wonder what's the use. emoticon

No actually it is smaller but 2 story & basement. It is 3 yrs old and has glassed in sunroom on back of house. I am so excited because we talked to the loan officer today and he said we were approved pending getting all necessary document in. We are hoping to close by November. I started some packing today. Since house is furnished we won't be moving much furniture. Some I will give to family or charities. Some will stay here as this was my husband's Grandma's house & furniture belonged to her. My husband's sister from Little Rock will be moving into this house. Her husband works for Fed-Ex and got a transfer to here.I can't say how excited I am about this. We will actually be closer to Lake Charles & have a better view of critters around here. Today I saw 4 turkeys and a red hawk in the horse pasture.

Have we heard anything from Rusty? I've been wondering about him, if all is ok or he is just busy?

Tricia, I know you are glad to be driving again, it's the pits to have to depend on others who drive. Is your new house bigger than the one you are now living in? I know you are looking forward to all the things that goes with a new home!
Today is much cooler, haven't had my nose out the door but first thing this morning it was just muggy.

Yes will have to start all landscaping and herb & veggie new. There has been no landscaping done at all. Kind of excited to be able to do exactly what I want. Really won't have to do anything inside the house since only 3 yrs old and I was in love with the house when they built it.

My husband was stationed in Millington in the 80's. He loves going over there and talking to the soldiers and veterans there. Also he got a military haircut and he was so excited. He's not found a civilian yet that cuts his hair how he really likes it. Just an old Navy seadog...lol

I bet you are really going to enjoy the cooler weather this week. I know I am going to be glad to get outside without the heat pressing in. Hoping to can some salsa later this week. Been freezing my tomatoes whole till I got enough to can a dozen or so jars.

I drove the car for the 1st time today. Went to my sisters for a visit, we went and had lunch and then I drove home. Knee is sore tonight but no worse than normal. Life is getting better.

My Uncle, over 50 years ago, was based at Millington, he and my Aunt lived on base in a little trailer. It sounds wonderful for everyone if you can get that loan! Will you have to start all new flower and vegetable gardens? It will be a great adventure, do it while you are young and can enjoy it. emoticon By the way, thank you for the goodie! emoticon

Thanks Martha, I will check those out for him. The boots help when he uses them but he is stubborn and doesn't like to sit still enough to wear them.

This cooler weather will be welcome to me. I love warm weather to get in the pool but the humidity kills me. It really makes my skin hurt from the Fibromyalgia. Since it affects my skin sensitivity and already makes my skin feel like it's on fire the humidity makes it feel worse. I look forward to cooler but not cold...lol We're never really happy are we.

Been a very busy day today. We went to Millington, TN (Naval Base outside Memphis) and did some shopping at the commissary for groceries, then I found some clothes for church at the Navy Exchange. Then my hubby and I applied for a house loan. We are trying to buy his brother's house that is actually behind our house. His brother passed away 2 years ago and his partner wants to move back to Texas so he wants us to buy the house, fully furnished at way below cost. Please say a prayer that the loan goes through, I really love this house. It's just 3 years old and has a beautiful view of the lake. I believe we have a good chance to get it just don't want to get my hopes up...lol But I'm starting to pack things up. It would be an easy move because we won't be taking most of our furniture. My husband's younger sister is planning on moving into our house when it all happens.

Tricia, check out exercises for Plantar Fasdciitis on YouTube, I found many this morning and the exercises sure help, keeps that area stretched so it doesn't hurt as much. From what I understand, the exercises help more than keeping weight off it, that is, sitting with your foot up. emoticon
Are you all ready for cooler weather? It's really been a mild Summer and it's almost over for 2014!

My husband has Plantar Facilitates (sp) and he has the boot. He is not regular on wearing it so it hasn't helped as fast as it should. But when he wears it he does say it feels better afterwards. He gets big knots in the arch of his feet. I hope the boot will help you Martha.

I just feel so bad for Bill & Francie. I feel so helpless. I went through this with a couple of my Mom's sister's and it so hard on the family. Cancer just tears the family into shreds watching their loved one hurt and not be able to make the pain go away. I just wish there was something I could do to help them out. I guess just keeping in touch with Francie and letting her know we can is all we can do.

Trying to get my eating and exercise back on track. Luckily I didn't gain but 2 lbs but I feel very bloated from too much salt.Drinking lots of water to flush out my system.

Plantar Fasciitis is a REAL pain as I witnessed my wife and daughter suffer from it. They wore a boot that stretched the foot ? and helped remedy the condition. Get well soon.

Got tired of sitting with my foot propped up , using a stool here at the computer. We have a new member, check out the 'wall', please make her welcome.
Not much going on with me. It is very chilly outside this evening and will be more so as the week goes by.
Tricia, sounds like a WONDERFUL trip! The picture you posted is a true memory picture of the ladies in your family. It's just me and my sister now and she's not in good health.
Enjoy your Mom, one day you will be so glad you have spent this time with her. My Mom passed away in Nov. of 2011, just before her 94th birthday.
Yes Rusty, we need to continue to pray for Bill and also Francie as she takes care of him.

I made it back from Florida late last night. We had a wonderful time, sightseeing, walking, playing in pool & hottub & walking on beach. Went out on 3 hour Dolphin Tour to Shell Island. We didn't get to see dolphins that trip, they were being elusive. Fed the seagulls, watched pelicans & seagulls dive for fish, saw hermit crabs & sand crabs. Passed a huge Japanese Freighter very close to our boat. Beautiful boat tour, it was so fun. The next morning we watched dolphins from our balcony...lol Walked out on the fishing tour watching the fisherman pulling in Spanish mackerel and needle fish. Had some wonderful food every day and our rooms at the resort were wonderful. Ocean view on 3rd floor and it was great. This was our best Mom & sister trip so far.

While I was gone I got a message from Francie she wanted me to pass on to y'all. Please keep her & Bill in our prayers. This situation is very dire.

From Francie:

His Liver cancer is stage 4 and has metastasized. Oncologist said in his opinion chemo not a good option but choice would be up to Bill. He said why put myself through that if it won't help. They still want to see if he can tolerate the radiation on his back. They changed his pain meds. He now has a pain patch that will change out every 3 days plus 2 Dilaudid pills every 3 hours as needed. It is already working better. Oncologist said main thing is to try their best to keep him as pain free as possible. He told Bill just to eat what he could and not worry about what or the amount. He was down another 10 lbs since 21/2 weeks ago. Lost 34 since May.

Swimming is great but no pool year round and this summer the cataract surgery banned water in the eyes. Knee braces never did any good for me. There is a brace that is extremely expensive but it is built to take pressure off the knee as in the link between the upper strap and lower strap keeps "extra space" in the knee and reduces the knee bearing as much weight. I might have tried it before the replacement for I was desperate. Synvisk?sp- chicken beak- helped for a short while and then faded away.

I think walking is the BEST exercise a person can do! I think it helps me with my hip and I sure don't want that to come back.
Francie posted on FB that the brace for her leg isn't helping and Bill's pain meds don't sit well on his stomach. Continued prayers for both of them.

Accountability is an issue for me. Friends took me out last night and we went to a buffet. I stopped at around 100,000 calories but I did not go back for seconds on any item. Law speak for I made several trips to try everything but didn't get seconds on what I found to be good, of course portion control was affected by how high I could stack on a 9 inch plate. Oysters, ribs, steak, stir fry, fried catfish, fried shrimp, bbq shrimp, smoke links, blackberry cobbler and soft serve ice cream. I was going to run it off today but it is raining soooooooo......

When I was a kid, my Dad always enjoyed going back to places he/we had lived when he was a young man/father. My husband and I went back to his roots in a cabin his Dad built in the hills of Virginia. I guess we all have good times we could tell.
I have been having a problem with an eye today, think it's allergies, burning/sore, so much better now than earlier. I thought I should come here and start posting, this keeps me accountable.

Several years back my wife had a relative getting married in Texas and my mother and older sister went to the wedding with us. My wife left early to help so my mother, sister and I went through the places my mother had grown up in and visited the sites we went to as children. It was a great trip with a lot of family history being reviewed and new stories being remembered.

I had a really good day today. Went shopping with my younger sister for some clothes for our Florida trip. We are leaving Sunday and driving half-way and then getting to Panama City Beach on Monday. I am so excited for this trip with my Mom and sisters. I value these trips so much, spending time with just us girls with my Mom. I know someday I will look back on these trips and be so very thankful that we took each one.

I am happy to hear that Bill is getting to go home. I hope and pray that God will keep his healing, protective hand on them both during this trying time.

This heat has just about wore me out. The only relief is my pool. I am enjoying every moment in it. I use it in the afternoons for my therapy. I still do my exercises in the morning and ride the bike but working out in the pool is much easier on my joints and much cooler.

Everyone stay as cool as possible. I will check in as much as possible on my trip.

Francie posted on FB that Bill would be going home today, I know they are both tired of the hospital.

Please Lord, place your healing hand on Bill and take away his pain. We know that healing is in your hands and may it be your will Lord. Please place a hedge of protection and healing around him and Francie. Please give them strength to get through this trying time and take their pain away. We ask this in Jesus Holy name..Amen

Francie, it is so good to hear from you. I wish it could be much better news. I didn't know that Bill wasn't able to write on his FB. I am keeping you both in my prayers daily.

I got very good news today. I was released from doing physical therapy. I got to 2 degrees on straightening my knee and my bend was 125 degrees. I was so happy to be able to get to this milestone. Of course my therapy is far from over. I will still be exercising daily, riding my bike and working in the pool to regain full use of my knee again. Just 10 more days till I go to Florida.

We have lots of shopping we plan on doing, we are going on a 3 hr excursion to Dolphin Island, seeing sea life up close, being able to touch and hold some of it, exploring the island, you can snorkel and swim, then we will be taking the boat out to view dolphins. The resort we are staying in has pools, hot tubs, small water slides & lazy river. They have a Polynesian show each night for guest and the boardwalk is right next to the resort. We have an ocean view room. I am so excited. My Mom and 3 of my sisters are going. Since my Dad passed away in 2007 my sisters & I vowed to do this trip every year to enjoy every moment with our Mom. We will start planning next years trip right after this one so it gives us something to look forward to and save money for. I wouldn't miss this for the world.

Just thought I'd drop by. Tricia, the note you saw that was written "by Bill" were his words but I typed. I manage his FB page. he doesn't use a computer. His page was set up mainly to promote his music.

He has to go at 7;30 am in morning to see if they can re-situate drain tube better. It will be as outpatient. GI specialist looked at all scans and said is a total blockage above and below duct so no stent can be done at this time. If chemo can shrink might be a possibility. He has an appt. with radiologist DR. Lynch on Monday at 12:30 at the Ben E Owens Cancer Center at St. B. They're starting the ball rolling. He has lost 25+ lbs since May and strong chemo hasn't even started. He doesn't even look like himself and certainly not like he did a month ago. Wish it was me rather than him. He has no appetite even with the nausea meds. Smelling food being cooked turns him off even. He is on 20mgs Oxycontin morning and night with oxycodone every 4 hours in between. Oncologist Dr. Monte has increased the oxycontin to 30mgs. morning and night but had to be ordered so won't be here til next Wed. Most of his pain is in back. Some in right side. I so dread all this for him. My heart is breaking. emoticon

Tricia, what will you be doing in Panama City? I bet a lot of 'shopping'! emoticon and eating a lot of sea food.

I got an excellent report from my surgeon. He was very pleased with my progress, my bending is 122 degrees and my straightening is still at 3 degrees. He approves of my swimming and using the exercise bike. Released me for driving but won't be doing that soon due to medication. But I go back to see him in 6 weeks.

I leave in 11 days to Panama City Beach with my Mom & sisters. I am so excited about this trip. It has been a rough year with weather, illnesses and my surgery so am looking forward to 4 days in the sun and sand and relaxing with my sisters and Mom. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I did see a post on FB from Bill and he seems to have an upbeat attitude. I sent him a note to keep his chin up and trust God. I told him that our group was praying for him and Francie.

Please keep cool and inside as much as possible in this horrible heat. We're watering the garden early in the morning and I get in the pool later in the day to workout. The pool does feel awesome with this hot weather. Keep your animals hydrated and inside if possible,

Tricia, I know you are so glad that it's about over with all the doctors for you recent surgery. It sounds like you can do just about anything you want now, just keep doing what you've been doing, it's working!

Hi, I hope everyone is feeling good this week with all this hot weather. Looks like it's going to be worse by next week. I'm thankful that they have allowed me to get in my pool. I've used it for past 2 days to do my afternoon therapy session. I am enjoying this so much.

I go back to the surgeon tomorrow for 8 wk check-up. I think I'll be done with home therapy this week but will continue to do my therapy every day. I am up to 13 minutes on bike and walked 2.5 miles today. Plus 45 minutes in the pool. Nothing strenuous yet but just keep moving. Having done any driving yet. I guess he'll release me to drive but not too sure since it is my right knee about pushing gas & brake yet. Plus still taking pain meds so wouldn't drive yet anyway.

Please keep Francie & Bill in our prayers. I can't imagine how very hard this is for both of them. Praying God will ease their burden and pain.

Sunday our preacher said there will be a day when all wrongs are righted and after service I asked him what he meant. Basically that those who did wrong will receive judgment was what I understood he was talking about after his explanation. Being the devil's advocate, this was not in a group, I suggested we all have sinned but Christians are forgiven and if we are forgiven how are our wrongs to others made right. Someone came up and I changed the topic. Now will he think I am a trouble maker, a troubled member or a person who actually listens to his lengthy sermons?

We weren't promised that life would be wonderful but God did promise us, as His child, that He would be with us in every situation and that is what/who I lean on when times gets rough. We are truly blessed even though we don't know the why of things that happen.

It doesn't take much effort to see how blessed we are. I learned early when I was feeling sorry for myself having to be in a body cast for 4 months and walking to see a friend in Campbell's Clinic that had been in a car wreck after I had been cut out and placed in a walking cast. He was in traction with pins through the leg at several points. The Lord loves us and has a reason for our trials even though I usually can't figure His reasons for the longest.

Hello everyone, hope you had a blessed Sunday. I got a message from Francie this afternoon and she asked me to share it with the group . So here it is.

I get my leg brace with hinge on each side Tuesday morning and Synvisc on Sept 4th. I was supposed to get the Synvisc last Thursday but we didn't get to leave the hospital until that afternoon. I sure hope the brace stabilizes the muscles and ligaments to keep them from turning/twisting/pulling. Hope the Synvisc works too. I'm tired of using walker
Bill really needs lots of prayers. He isn't well at all. He came home with drain tube/bag to help drain the liver since he has a large tumor on his liver. It's on the opposite side from where he had the cancer and surgery last year. It is blocking the bile duct. He had a biopsy last Wednesday and PET scan on Friday. Oncologist said he won't know for certain til get results but he strongly suspects that the gall bladder cancer has reoccurred. We were told last year that it was a rare but aggressive cancer. Oncologist said more surgery is not an option due to having had so many surgeries in that abdominal area last year. He said is treatable with chemo to try to shrink and keep from spreading but not curable. Just praying his pancreas or stomach not involved. The PET scan will show if he has any anywhere else. He stays nauseated a lot and can't eat much without his tummy hurting. That has me very concerned I so dread the chemo because I know it will be much stronger than what he had last year. They hope to shrink the tumor enough to be able to put in a permanent stent in the bile duct and remove the drain tube. Just taking it one day at a time and leaving it in God's hands. I do my crying in private. He will only be 69 in September. I list my dad to prostate cancer when he was 69 in 2000. Bill's grandfather died with stomach cancer. That scares me.

Please pass this info on to the spark team. I just don't have the energy to sit at computer much. It also hurts my leg to sit very long without it elevated. Hope you are doing well.

I didn't know you had 2 sisters living in Jonesboro have a good time. That's why being on a team that's mostly women doesn't bother you emoticon Where are you going to put everything when your wife leaves her condo of many years!? You might need to get a bigger house!

My wife is retiring in December and moving out of the condo and she filled the second bedroom full of her mothers items that she did not put in storage or take to the nursing home. She says we have too much here now. Problems on the horizon.

Tricia, there's not many young ladies these day that sew, much less quilt. How wonderful that she did it by hand! I have one that I did by hand, all the others are mostly machine stitches. I told a friend this morning if she was interested in my stash she could have it all so she was here by 1:30, now I have more room in my spare room, question is, what will I do with it? emoticon Never known a woman yet that couldn't find a use for extra room emoticon

Tricia it is great the rehab you are doing, it will pay GREAT dividends. The knee replacement patients that don't go the extra mile that I have seen have had problems that I have missed and I have more flexibility than they do and several are younger than I am.

I'm so happy that Bill got to go home and that Francie will be able to rest. I know they have a long battle ahead of them and I'll keep them in our prayers for continued strength and healing.

Rusty, I'm glad that Scout is on the mend. I know he likes to walk with you on your journeys. My dog, Lucy is just waiting for when I'm able to go farther than walking around the house. But I got 2 miles in today just around the house & yard and 1.5 miles on the bike. Little more each day.

Martha, my daughter just completed her 1st quilt by hand. It took her over a year piecing it all together and now a cousin is doing the backing & quilting on their machine. I'm very proud of her to persevere and get it completed. I've never been one for crafts. I am getting ready to work on some of my gourds. Not very talented but looking forward to trying.

Praying for everyone's good health.

UH OH, Scout gonna get spoiled! That's a pretty big operation for a dog but I know she is feeling better now.

Bill got to go home today but he has many appointments and chemo to go through. It's so hard sitting in a hospital and you can't get any rest, Francie is really gald to be home but she's a trooper!

I'm going through over 35 years of things to make quilt and sewing tools because I can no longer even see to thread a needle emoticon I sure hope none of you ever get macular degeneration, it robs a person of so many things. A specialist told me I would never get the wet kind, thank the Lord!

Scout had a salivary gland that grew to the point it could hand out the right side of her mouth when we walked. The vet had given an antibiotic but wife felt that something had to be done. There is a 24/7 vet hospital in Memphis that removes cataracts, etc. Local vet didn't do this type surgery and they cut along her throat and removed the gland which had swollen to the size of a cantaloupe. She is fine except she is an outdoor dog rehabbing in a house.

Another update, not looking good, all prayers needed.

New Wednesday Update on Bill: After having plasma all night, his INR level is still 1.7. They were hoping for 1.5. The oncologist and the radiologist who will do the biopsy have decided to go ahead and do the biopsy sometime today. We will most likely go home tomorrow. . He will have a PET scan on Friday. In the meantime , the head of Pallative Care/Pain Management will get him off IV pain med and over on pill form. We will go to the oncologist in a week or two for consultation on biopsy/scan results and to discuss treatment plans. Their first goal is to hopefully shrink the tumor enough to put in a stent so the drain tube can be removed Then, further treatment. Continued caring thoughts and prayers for the days, weeks, and months ahead.

Rusty, what's wrong with your dog? This is the first time you have mentioned this.

Got a message from Francise this morning.

Today the dog's compression bandage around her head was removed and she is much happier.
Wife returned to Harrison and is trying to unload.
I am caring for the dog indoors for another week.

Rusty, it seems you can always make me smile, how long did you say you have been married???? emoticon

Tricia, so glad you are doing so much better that you can take a car trip, have a wonderful time, you deserve it! I don't know what you could do for Francie, maybe call, send a card or Message on FB. He is in St. Bernards.

Bill's blood is still to thin for them to do a biopsy, so they are still waiting.

Martha, thank you so much for keeping us updated on Bill and Francie. I am keeping both of them in my thoughts and prayers. I know this is such a difficult time for them both. If you know of anything we can do for them please let us know. Is he in NEA Hospital?

Hope everyone else is doing good. My progress is chugging along. I am doing lots of walking throughout the day and 15-20 minutes a day on the bike (not all at one time). I am very pleased at my progress and looking forward to my trip with my Mom & sisters on Sept. 1st to Panama City, FL.

Monday's update. Please keep praying.

Another Monday update on Bill for all our friends and relatives: The oncologist's NP came by to talk He told us they are ordering 2 units of plasma every 8 hours in order to get his INR lower (blood thicker) with hopes to do the biopsy tomorrow The tumor is 4 cm across, is on the opposite liver lobe from where his cancer was before, and is blocking the lower bile duct. Oncologist has already said more surgery is not an option due to all the surgeries that Bill had last year. Won't know if for sure cancer until the biopsy is done. Depending on that result will determine what the treatment will be. Taking it one day at a time and leaving it in God's hands. He will guide those who are in charge of all the caregiving (doctors, nurses, family, friends, etc). Continued caring thoughts and prayers.

Update on Bill

Sunday update: Bill rested a little bit better last night. The hospital bed is what is hurting his back the worst. PT came and walked him a little bit. He got to start on solid food yesterday but will be NPO tonight after midnight to prepare for biopsy tomorrow. Depending on what time they do that and how it goes will direct whether we go home tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday. We appreciate all the continued caring thoughts and prayers and garner them in the weeks and months to come.

I don't think Francie will have time to update here so I will copy and paste.

Saturday Update: Bill may have rested a tad better last night but is worn out from no real sleep. The hosp. Bed is really hurting his back. He can't turn on his side due to the drain tube. They are giving him pain med thru IV so that is helping. He is not on real solid food yet but is eating and drinking everything they do bring. I needed to come home and do few things plus rest awhile. I'll go back around 1 and be there until they finally dismiss him which is probably Monday or Tuesday They will be doing a biopsy on Monday. So thankful for all the caring thoughts and prayers now and for the things ahead

Praying for Bill that they will be able to help relieve him from all his pain. It has sure been a uphill battle for them both. Please keep us updated on any progress.

I had a pretty rough day yesterday. The main physical therapist came to check my progress and really put me through the ringer. I hurt so much by the time he left but he was so pleased with my progress. I was at 3 degrees on straightening my leg and 118 degrees on bending my leg. He showed me some different stretches for the leg muscles and we did some adjustments on my bike to help with my progress on the bike. I'm up to 8 minutes which is much better than I expected at 1 month after surgery.

Praying for everyone's health and that this heat will break soon so we can enjoy being outside.

Glad all is going well with you Tricia! Hopefully that inflamed spot will not last long. A good church family is the best and a comfort in times of trouble.
Not much going on here, just a slow computer and my daughter will come tonight or tomorrow to see what's wrong, my personal tech emoticon don't know what I would do without her. I got a new upright vacuum cleaner and it sure does clean this carpet, it's amazing how much my other one did not touch! I love Amazon, this was brought right to my door, sometimes I have to go to the post office to pick up a package, uggg!
Looks like the rain has passed us by.

I'm here, I'm here. Haven't been on FB or computer hardly at all. Just quick check ins. Still having quite a bit of pain and to be honest it just sometimes wears me out. I'm walking much more inside & out & made it to 8 minutes on the bike this morning. That was 1.3 miles. Therapist said to try to go up 1 minute a week. Not pushing it. I walked 3152 steps today. Every milestone makes me feel better. I have a small spot on my incision that is red & a little inflamed so we are watching it and treating with Neosporin. No fever or pus so just precautionary procedure.

Happy Belated Anniversary Francie & Bill. I wish you could have spent it dancing under the stars but I am praying that soon both of your health will be better. I hate that Bill is having to go through all these horrible setbacks. I am keeping him on my prayer list. I sure hope the Synvisc helps you out.

Martha, I imagine that you cherish every gift your husband gave you but his love even more. I have only been married to my husband for 13 years but they have truly been the happiest years of my life.

Rusty, I will use any excuse to eat out...lol I am glad that you are pleased with your new pastor. I haven't made it back to church yet but am praying I can get back this next Sunday. My church family has been so wonderful through my surgery & recovery and it helps me so much knowing I can call on any of them and they will be there for me. God has truly blessed me so much.

I will try to get back in the rhythm of getting on each day. This group has been so helpful to me and I am thankful that you are all here.

I don't like meds that make me sleepy either, it just seems like the day is wasted. I think they will do for Bill as quickly as possible, jaundice is something that can't wait! Still praying for both of you, keep us posted. By the way, have you heard from Tricia lately?

I went all day with no pain meds and no muscle relaxer. Yes, I am hurting but they make me sleep the time away. I just can't sleep all the time. I will be taking them early tonight.
Bill's CT scan shows an obstruction in his bile duct. Don't know what it is and won't know until they do a drain procedure and a biopsy. Hopefully, that will be soon before severe infection sets in and he ends up in hospital needing major surgery again. They can the procedure as outpatient if they get to it quickly enough.
I got him a new phone for Anniversary so I am going to get off and get that all set up before bedtime.

Can't tell the muscle relaxers helping much except make me sleep. I've only had 2. Will try to wait til night to take. I hate sleeping the day away. Hope to get the knee brace by Friday and that it helps. Praying for hubby as he has his CT scan this afternoon. Praying no cancer shows up but do hope we see reason why his liver is inflamed and that there is an easy solution to that.

The movie was just ok. Not good enough to recommend. Daughter didn't know.

Thank you Martha. I got muscle relaxers so hoping they help. Daughter brought over a gift basket with a movie(the Butler, based on true story) 2 goblets, large bottle of Rootbeer a bag of buttered popcorn, and box of Whoppers so we could have an anniversary date night at home. She always thinks of things like that.

Lab work showed Bill has a very inflamed liver. CT tomorrow afternoon at 3:15. Amy taking him since I am not supposed to drive. Hoping orthopedic doc will call in a muscle relaxer for me. My muscles from hip down below knee wound up like rubber band. Therapeutic exercises, walking to mailbox and back, and Voltaren gel not helping a bunch.

We have a new hurdle to get over. Bill has had very dark urine for several days. I got him in to see his doc this afternoon. Doc told him he was very jaundiced. It's hard to tell with his Native American complexion. He said the urine is dark because of junk from liver coming through the kidneys. They did blood work and ordered a CT. Hope we find out tomorrow the results and that CT is soon. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
I am still dealing with the medial ligament and hamstring issue. Orthopedic doc told me to not drive unless absolutely necessary due to having to turn/twist on leg getting in and out of car. I got fitted for a leg/knee support brave. They have to order custom made and should be here by the end of the week. The orthopedic doc is going to do Synvisc on my knee on the 14th. I hope and pray it works. Please keep my husband Bill and I both in your thoughts and prayers.

Congrats Bill and Francie, what a great gift he gave you! My hubby and I got gold engraved bands for our 50th, I now treasure both of them. I think when we place God at
the head of our house, we can have a long and full marriage. Just before John got at his worst, he went out and got me a beautiful ring, he told me to remember him whenever I see/wear it, I don't need that because I think of him most of the time.
Rusty, you and your wife have gifted each other by being married over 40 years, not many can do that!
May God continue blessing both of your marriages emoticon
