Enjoyed being with all our children/grandchildren at church and lunch at Ole Hickory yesterday. I received several nice gifts. I did not rest well at all last night. The one area on left side of right leg near the knee has started hurting fiercely and swollen like a gourd. I have to keep off it for couple days and alternate ice/heat. I can't get another bursa shot for several days.
I want to be able to take the 3 grandsons to Chuck E Cheese on Thursday then back here to the house to have homemade cupcakes and ice cream.

enjoyed a Red Egg Party Saturday in LR. They are now called Red Egg and Ginger Parties to be politically correct. Left there and looked at Ford's and then on to Batesville and helped son repair some chairs in the club restaurant .and back home this morning. Watered some Bermuda seed so it should rain soon. Eyes are better and wife will return to work soon and I will have 5 months to prepare for full time chaos in where "things" belong and where they are now.

Hope you had a great birthday, Francie. emoticon Hoping the rib cage pain is better so you could enjoy your birthday lunch.

Yes, Martha, we do have armadillos. My husband had to kill a huge one about a month ago. It was in the yard wandering around during the day. I thought they were nocturnal and not sure about rabies. He put some fence post around it today with rope and hung old cd's from the rope to try to keep them from eating the garden goodies. I have lots of green tomatoes so when they ripen I hope I can make salsa from them. We canned some this weekend that my sister-in-law brought up from Little Rock. Mostly I made labels and was a taste tester...lol

I am feeling much better this weekend. The pain level is much better so less pain pills. The exercise therapy is still painful and she adds a couple more exercises each week. Takes about an hour to do. The motion machine will only be about another week and then I gain 4 more hours in my life...WooHoo. I ventured outside for the 1st time using my walker to go out to my garden. It was so great to be out in the garden despite the horrendous heat. I can go without the walker in the house now so I really like that. I'm going to try to walk more and more each day to strengthen my legs. But I'll be careful to not overdo it.

Shopping on Thursday included getting a big watermelon and hauled it into cart, then hauled it out and into house and into fridge resulted in pulling rib cage gain. Had no choice. Bill can't lift anything that big. A dear friend treated me to a movie and lunch yesterday for my birthday (tomorrow). Today was getting hair cut/styled, going to Target, going to Kroger to finish up my grocery shopping I didn't get on Thursday, getting gas, and to Walgreen's. Needless to say that by the time I got home I was really hurting/ I took 2 Percogesics and it finally kicked in. I just have one area in leg that still hurts. Rib cage is a different story. We're having my birthday lunch with all our kids and grandkids after church tomorrow at Ole Hickory.

Deer eating your garden, that's what happens when you live in the country!
Do you have Armadillos? A while back we met a lady from your area and she said they could sure ruin a yard. Where I used to live we had one that rooted up part of our yard, looked like a pig had rooted it. Not to far from here, a friend had to put a fence around her garden, deer run in herds around her property. They are beautiful till they begin to be pests.
Tricia, it's good to read that you are doing so much better, it won't be long now and you will be able to do all the things you have put on hold.

Feeling stronger each day as I do my therapy. It's still hurts and is tough to get through but when I'm done I feel stronger. I'm looking forward to the day I can say my knee doesn't hurt. I will have the CPM machine another week then I'll be done with it. Not really sure how long I'll have the physical therapist. Maybe another 3 weeks for sure. She says I am doing really well with my recovery and that I basically just need to do the exercises 2 x a day to keep the recuperation process going. Still using the walker , some in the house and always outside.

Spent past 2 days over at my MIL's house watching her, my SIL & step-daughter can peach jam, peach jelly, blackberry jam, spiced peaches & salsa. I provided the peaches for the jam that I bought at the Farmer's Market in Jonesboro last Tuesday. They are so good. They still have pickles to can tomorrow.

It just feels good to be out of the house doing something productive. My hubby is placing fencing around my garden to keep the deer out. Sure hope it helps before they eat it all.

Relief in some area but very sore and hurt in area where he put the 2nd shot. It takes 3-4 and sometimes 6 days for the shots to fully take effect.

I went to Kroger yesterday. I was armed with digital coupons and paper coupons. Saved almost $20. Didn't get all I needed but will go finish tomorrow.
Today, a dear friend treated me to lunch and a movie for my birthday (which is Sunday). I dropped her off at home and then on way home stopped at the farm vendor on East Highland. I got cucumbers, red tomatoes, green tomatoes, and Arkansas peaches. He also had okra, zucchini, yellow squash, green beans, new potatoes, shelled purple hull peas, Vidalia onions, cantaloupe, corn, and watermelon plus home canned jelly and jam, chow chow, and raw honey. I'm just having veggies for supper.

I agree, by us being positive we can make this a good team but that means more posting and adding interesting topics. We can all be leaders!
What a beautiful, cool day! I have had the door open since 8:00 and the house takes on the smell of clean sheets hanging out on the clothes line, I think some of you remember that!
Francie, are you feeling some relief?
Tricia, we miss you, hope all is going well.

Rusty, I'm not leaving, just not a leader. As far as the spirit goes, I think very few on SP have that spirit anymore. I don't think it going to be easy finding an active team, been looking and most are like this one or on an inactive list. Things change, people change! emoticon
A storm went though here again yesterday and I was without internet till about 10:30 this morning then my sister and I met a friend for dinner. You don't know how much the computer adds to your life until you don't have it!
As far as this team goes, let's try to keep it going, make some interesting topics, you can do this, you don't have to be a team leader. WE CAN ALL BE LEADERS! emoticon

Martha PLEASE stay on this team and continue to lead. I dropped off the computer since wife has been home and we vacationed, moved my computer, and the cataract surgeries have been easy but vision is slow to recover. If you leave the moving spirit will leave I fear.

I fully understand Martha. I wish you well in finding an active team. Why don't you check this one out. There are several on there who are pretty active. They run personal challenges a lot. Don't be mislead by the name. I know you don't need to lose a 100 lbs!!!

My beautiful precious Mom had a great day!! There were 11 contestants in the Wood-Lawn 2014 Beauty Pageant. My Mom won 3rd Alternate!! The winner was a 97 yr old. Everyone remarked about how sweet and beautiful Mom was and about her answers to the interview questions. She received a pink banner, a certificate which I will frame when I go back, and a little beauty queen trophy.

The storm hit there about the time I was leaving my sister's house. I drove to an Exxon station and waited it out in Batesville. I didn't want to be up there on her hill among all those trees with that wind blowing so hard. I got home around 6:30.

I have one spot on my leg that is really sore and hurts but I think is partially from the shot he put in that area. The one he put in the knee cushion seems to already be helping. The one in the knee cushion was cortisone. I don't know the name of the one he put down in the bursa muscle below the knee. He said the reason that muscle/ligament was so sore is due to me limping so much and caused bursitis due to more pressure being put on it. he recommends that I go ahead and do the Synvisc in the knee before the osteo gets any worse. He said that it just might keep me from knee surgery for a long time to come. He also gave me a prescrip for Voltaren Gel. He seems to think it might be better than anything I have already tried. 5 large tubes of it-- $25 so not bad at all.

Our son and family from North Carolina will be here Saturday so I am hoping this leg will be more up to par so I can enjoy being with my grandboys and doing things with them.I want to take all 3 of my grandboys to Chuck ECheese one day and to ASU Museum. They will love that.

Y'all have a restful night.

Things have changed with Spark People over the years, I think most have went to Facebook. Facebook has made lots of internet communities to just bow out because of the competition, 2 or 3 I had belonged to years ago. I'm wanting to lose extra pound so I'm looking for an active team that can help me. I'm taking my name off as a team leader but I will still be here as a member. I hope you all will understand.

What a wonderful idea your MIL had, Tricia, I know you enjoyed being outside, maybe she will do that more often. I know things will get better quickly when you get those staples out!
Francie, you gave you Mom an ideal birthday gift, one she won't forget and one that has given you many good memories. I hope tomorrow brings you relief at last! you deserved a good rest for all the work you had done the last few days.
Rusty, will your wife be going back to work with the Fall semester or is she completely retired at the moment? Hope your last cataract surgery went well and you will have a complete recovery!

Mom's party was a big success. She thoroughly enjoyed it. We had 2 surprise guests for her. Some dear friends we had not seen in about 40 years. We had several who were supposed to come that did not get to for various reasons. We still had 32 there counting Mom. My sister did a gorgeous cake. The food was excellently done and had enough to feed an army. We invited all the staff to come in and get a plate. Several did so. Mom looked so pretty in her new dress I got her. She received almost 80 birthday cards all together. I made a notebook with protector sleeves in it to put all her cards in. She got 1 vase of 2 dozen pink roses, 1 basket of beautiful mixed flowers, and a vase of pink roses and pink glads, and some money which sister will put in her spending account there.

Bill did not get to go. He has been suffering from all kinds of side effects from the Cymbalta so doc is having me back him down off it. Hopefully, the pain management doc, Dr. Savu, can help him when he goes Sept. 8th. Hopefully, he will feel like going when our son and family and I go to see her while they are here.
Our son and family will be here this coming Saturday and go back home on the 5th. We will all celebrate my birthday this next Sunday by having lunch at Ole Hickory after church services.Looking forward to seeing our 2 youngest grandsons!!

I paid dearly for Saturday's festivities. On Thursday, I was getting clothes out of my washer and pulled the upper left rib cage muscle.... again. 3rd time since January. emoticon
So by the time I got back home on Saturday afternoon, I was really sore and hurting. By 6am Sunday morning, I took the last of the Nucynta pills. I didn't get to attend church as a result. In fact, I slept 28 hours minus about 4 hours of getting up, using bathroom at intervals, eating a bite and drinking some water, then right back to sleep. I woke up at 9am this morning. I'm still very sore in rib cage and leg is hurting but feel little more rested. LOL
I called orthoped this morning to see if I could get in before my scheduled time on Thursday. I get to go TOMORROW at 4pm. I just pray the shots work!!!

Mom is in the nursing facility beauty pageant on Wednesday!! First time ever she has ever been in anything like that. The winner will go to a District one!! I told Mom even if she didn't win the crown, she will always be my queen. I'll get a blog written with a few pics of her party on Saturday.

Martha, you're right I should be tracking them. Kind of slacked off on tracking food & exercise. My appetite is still way off. Just not too hungry most days. Plus the therapy sessions are so intense that I feel worn out most of the time. I just grab whatever is close by to eat. Luckily I have lots of fresh fruit & veggies, nuts, cheese to snack on. The church has brought by so much good food and my guys are so happy about that. I wish I felt like eating more of it. But I'm sure my appetite will come back soon.

This evening my Mother-in-law brought her golf cart over and picked me up to take me to their house so I could get outside & walk on their paved driveway. It felt so good to be outside in the fresh air and to walk on some different ground. I can hardly wait till Tuesday when I get the staples out. It's getting itchy and I really want to give it a good scratch...lol

Rusty, I have only peeked at the staples so far. There are quite a few but I could care less about a scar...lol Today was much better- pain was better, energy was better, mood was better and I got a real shower...lol Yes I have showered before today but couldn't quite maneuver it without some pain. Therapist showed us how to get me in & out of shower chair and it helped so much. I got up to 101 degrees on machine and I believe goal is 110 total. My therapist measured my bend and how straight I could get my knee. I feel like I'm getting it straight but it's not. But not bad she said- 4 degrees from flat. I can't decide which exercise I hate the most but top contender is straightening knee & tightening thigh muscle and holding for count of 5. After 15 times it is throbbing. Then I have to bend knee and bring foot as close to butt as possible & hold. I am walking more around my house. I have a little track from living room, kitchen & dining room so it's my Indy track. Made 10 laps today...lol

Francie, I hope your Mom's birthday party went well. Please be sure and post pictures. I'm sure she loved it.

Martha, are you enjoying this cooler weather? I haven't been out in it yet but I want to go out so bad. But I think it's supposed to be warmer this next week.

Rusty, when is your next cataract surgery to be done?

Have a blessed Sunday everyone. emoticon emoticon

Tricia they stapled me back together, you must have very good looking legs that they didn't want a scar! Keep using the machine on bending your knee and don't forget to ice(with water so you don't get frostbite) down after. The icing helped reduce my pain. Just remember the pain now will go away and the pain you had before the replacement will not be there.

I'm taking it easy today and not going anywhere. Everything I have to do is right here at home and can take my time doing it. I'll take 2 Aleves in the morning before I leave at 8am. I'll probably need to take a strong pain pill by Sunday night.

We're having to back Bill off the Cymbalta. It isn't helping his pain much at all and causing all kinds of side effects. he will be off of it by the end of the month. He goes to see a pain specialist on Sept. 8th.

I go see my orthopedic doc next Thursday!! WHOOPEE!!

Y'all take care and have a Fabulous Friday/Wonderful Weekend!

I took 2 Aleves last night when I went to bed so today was not bad. I went to bank, went and got hair done, went to bread store down on E. Matthews. Got buns for $1 a pkg. Pretty fresh, too. I then went to Dollar Tree on Parker and then home.Sister, daughter, and I have been texting each other all day making sure we have bases covered for Mom's party on Saturday. LOL Only thing I have to actually cook is a peach cobbler. Sister made and decorated the cake and some mini cupcakes. Daughter and I are the decorating team. Sister is making the potato salad, baked beans, and cole slaw. She knows how to make them delish and that her very diabetic hubby can eat. My brother is doing the BBQ and smoked chicken. SIL is doing a veggie tray. Some of the other kin folks bringing desserts, fruit, and ice cream. Serving sweet and unsweet tea, reg lemonade and Splenda lemonade, and coffee. I'm going early enough to help Mom get all dolled up before I have to help set up.
Tomorrow is laundry day and tying the fancy eating utensils (clear plastic) in napkins with colored ribbons. I'll be taking plenty of pics. Taking my regular camera. It does better than my phone.

Tricia, so sorry you are still in pain but it sounds like you are making lots of progress. Take care and prayers for healing and recovery.

Martha, I don't take pain meds of any kind unless it is just unbearable because I usually wait and take them a little bit before bed so I can rest better. If I take them during day, can't take more later.

I'm off to get hair done, go to Dollar Tree, go to WalMart, and hopefully home.

Just checking in with everyone before heading to bed. Rough day pain wise today but we added a couple more exercises today so that was to be expected. Therapist said I am doing great and much better than I expected. The Continuous Motion machine is really a great thing. It moves my leg up & down and stretches it much more than I could. When I left the hospital I was at 50 degrees and now I'm at 87 degrees. Your goal is 120 degrees. That is how high your leg goes up.

Some problems with muscle spasms this last couple days. Took a muscle relaxer & walked some and it did help. I'm getting a little stir crazy staying in the house but have had several church visitors and my niece came over today. Not ready to go outside yet because of uneven ground & dogs. But maybe after my stitches are out next week and I feel more steady on my feet.

I feel like I am progressing pretty good in past 8 days. Compared to 1st day of therapy to now it's amazing how much higher I can lift that leg.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll check in as often as I can. Doing 6 hrs a day of therapy wears you out so don't always feel like getting on. But thankful for all prayers.

Rusty, that out of balance feeling between the 2 surgeries is really hard to deal with but it will be so much better for you next week. Some people pop out the lens of their glasses over the first eye that had surgery so you don't get that feeling as much. You are right about weight loss helping in so many ways with our health and physical problems. Many years ago I was
taking a small dose of blood pressure meds but since losing a little weight and watching my diet I no longer need them, that was over 10 years ago.
Francie, why don't you get a head start on the pain and take something before it starts. I know you are looking forward to the weekend, don't overtire yourself.
You all know something, I just can't help being concerned for you all who are going through so much, I probably sound like your Momma at times emoticon

My husband wears the compression socks for diabetics, not because he is a diabetic- he isn't but because he said they are more comfortable.

I'm going to do tomorrow most of what I had planned to do on Friday because they're forecasting 80% thunderstorms on Friday. Must be what has triggered pain again. emoticon

WalMart has compression stockings that are reasonably priced. Elevation, weight loss, exercise and sodium reduction helped me. Looking forward to this weekend, all 3 grands are in a play and DD did some of the sets and art work. Mondy I will get right eye fixed and will balance out. Oh Happy Day.

Martha, I have used wrap for leg and makes it hurt worse. I go see orthopedic doc on the 24th.

Bill's cardiologist recommended using raw non-hydrogenated coconut oil instead of any other kind of oil. He said raw non-hydrogenated coconut oil is a medium chain triglyceride whereas all other oils are long chain tricglycerides. That means our body metabolizes the raw non-hydrogenated coconut oil differently and does not store the raw non-hydrogenated coconut oil as fat like it does all others. I don't deep fry anything but if I have to use a little oil to brown something like fish, I use a raw non-hydrogenated coconut oil. It's pricey but worth it. It's also good as a skin conditioner and hair/scalp conditioner but is kind of hard to rinse out of hair.

I know for myself that sitting in front of this computer will tend to cause swelling in my feet. Cindy, maybe you need to wear compression hose/ knee highs, my MIL wore them all the time and so does my daughter at work, hospitals give them out to patients after they have surgery, maybe you know someone who has some.
Francie, have you ever thought of wrapping your leg in some way to keep it stabilized, just a thought. How much longer till you see your doctor, do you think he will run some tests on it? It's horrible to be in pain and not be able to do the things you want to do.
I've spent the morning putting things in bags for the freezer. This is my routine the morning after getting groceries to last for 2 weeks.
I've been reading articles on coconut oil and apple cider vinegar, some very good health benefits! Check it out!

Cindy, I have to get up and move every little bit or I tend to swell, also. That's the reason I could never have a desk job.

I guess I bragged too soon about yesterday. I woke up hurting this morning. So, just taking it easy today. I want to go to Bible Study tonight.

I'll take it easy tomorrow , too.

Last night was our Ladies Night devo. Had lots of fresh fruit and raw veggies.

I'll be busy Friday making cupcakes, doing a bit of shopping, and getting hair styled for Mom's big party on Saturday.

My daughter-in law had to have some tests run and some more and they are coming to attend one of her cousin's wedding so would be silly for them to come now and have to come in a week's time. Looonnnng 13 hour trip and pricey with gas way it is.

Cindy, glad the herbalife is starting to help you and I know the swimming will be good for you also. Can you eat lean pork? I know processed pork is full of strange ingredients and lots of salt which isn't good for anyone (so why do they do it?) I get the lean, sliced thin pork loin and it cooks as fast as bacon which is good for breakfast or anytime.
Francie, so glad you are feeling better today, yesterday could have been this front coming through. I know you are very happy to have your family come for a visit, sad that they won't get here in time for your Mom's festivities.
I tried sitting outside but cut it short, it's CHILLY out there! Do any of you remember this cool a Summer? I have lived in the South most of my life and don't remember anything like this. Reminds me of the weather we had in Rockford, Illinois. In fact the whole years has been a little unusual! Not complaining, I like this weather right now emoticon

I'm having a better day pain wise and so far no pain meds. Wish every day could be as good. Working on a mail bx swag. Took Bella to groomer early this morning. Blonde colored my hair. I'll get it styled Friday so it will look nice for Mom's party Saturday. Just found out son and family are coming around July 25th and stay until August 5th. So excited to see those 2 youngest grandboys. They'll be here for my birthday, daughter-in law's birthday, and our anniversary. That is a first.

Tricia, it will get better, much better. The continuous motion machine is a great way to carefully stretch the new knee and gain flexibility. I used it as often and as long as I could tolerate. For me the more I did the better my flexibility became. The Physical Therapist motivated me when he said it looked like I might be able to sit in a john boat and fish. if I worked hard.

thanks-

I hope this does work- So far 3 days i feel like i got a bit more energy, waiting on the pay check so i can pick up a few things for snacks and dinners :)

I've cut all pork products out of my diet for 2 weeks,I think this could be a culprit with my " LYMPHEDEMA" something triggers it, and something triggers it bad and i cant quite figure it out but going on 10 years and just getting worse- Lasix is the worst thing for it- so kinda need to do natural diuretics ( actually the herbal life herbal tea OMG- i live in the bathroom Peeing with that LOL ) but back to the pork, i been hearing any pork products are high in salt- salt is bad for someone with lymph-edema, high sodium as well- i did notice when i cut soda out back in April my legs went down some- so just going to be a lot of trial and error- but there has to be something that will work, i have good and bad days i have it in both legs and it SUCKS some days my shoes don't fit- then im wondering if living in the south and the heat is part of it sigh been here since 2008 so i don't know LOL

But i did get all excited heber springs community center has a year round pool woohooo i need to get paid to get that membership water is the best thing for edema or lymph-edema

but the one thing i can say about herbalife is im barely snacking " bad foods" at least just doing the snacking that i am required too...i have been bad about my water lately---- one thing i am curious about- if i make some home made sweet tea would that count as daily water? i just use 1-2 packs of spendla when i drink a 24oz glass of it...

well i should get to bed its 3am LOL

Tricia, I'm so sorry you are going through so much pain but that's part of getting better, it will be over before you know it! You are so blessed to have such a great hubby, he is sure a keeper! God bless your church members and your SIL for all they are doing for you. You are tired because you've been run over by a Mac truck!!

Hello everyone! It was so great to read all your posts. I have missed being on here so much. Just so out of it with pain meds, and therapy. All I feel like I have done since I got out of the hospital (Thursday) is sleep, grab a bite to eat, do therapy exercises & start all over.

I am extremely tired and hurting most of the time. I do 45 minutes of exercises every morning &afternoon. Then after icing the knee I do 2 hours laying in Continuous Motion machine . It moves my legs up and back for 2 hours. By the time that is over I grab a bite, nap while icing knee, then start all over...lol

Knee is extremely swollen and hurts to touch it. The exercises hurt so much when you are performing them I just want to cry. I am having Home Health come to my home to do therapy. It's just too hard to get in car & drive to the PT. They are doing it 3 x a week right now. My MIL puts me through my paces 2 x a day and then my hubby does the machine. I am so very blessed to have such awesome caretakers.

Our church has brought us dinner every night since I got out of surgery. I have so much food in my freezer & fridge. Our church family has been so very generous to us. My poor hubby has not had much of a break since the surgery. He stayed with me every minute I was in the hospital and ever since I got home he's been handling things. Luckily my son is off work tomorrow so he's going to stay with me while my hubby runs errands.

Well that has been my life for past week. I've wanted to get on and update everyone but so tired it's just an effort to get through the day. Getting ready to eat some dinner and then go spend my 2 hours in the Continuous Motion machine. Hugs to all.

By the time I got back from my errands, I was hurting again. I didn't ride an electric cart. I walked very slowly pushing one. I always feel guilty when I get an electric one thinking that someone else needs one worse than I do. I have taken 2 Aleve's. So, hopefully, the hurt will ease up.

Francie and Tricia, hope you are feeling much better today, hopefully you will be much better very soon!
Rusty, you seem to be having a great Summer! I enjoy reading all the things you are doing but eating out does tend to add unwanted weight but WHY does it taste soooo good emoticon emoticon
Cindy, I do miss you when you aren't posting, posting does remind us to stay in charge of our health and weight loss. I think you will feel better with the herbalife at the end of the 30 days, if not for weight loss but maybe for health benefits. I have taken vitamins and supplements for at least 10 years and feel so much better than I did when I was younger.
Let's make this team what it once was but that can only be by the members taking part. Posting is the most important, it's good to get to know each other, the good and the bad, the weight gains and losses, the things that are important to you, the things that hurt and make us sad, just sharing brings us closer. We need to lift each other in times of duress and times of happiness because you wouldn't be here if you didn't care. Now I will step down off my soapbox, if you want to sound off then just take my place on the soapbox, I would love to read your thoughts.

Wife is off to KY and I am to follow this weekend, grands in a play. I have been away from my computer for weeks now and am gaining weight. Don't need to track to know I am going way over limits. Wife and I went to Tunica, MS, Saturday after I MCed the Annual Hot Doggy Days dog show and ate at the "Green Olive" restaurant which is attached to a gas convenience store. It features international cuisine. Middle Eastern and it was great. Appearances can be deceiving.

I slept 10 1/2 hours last night due to the Nucynta pill, then slept another 3 1/2 this afternoon. I hope I can sleep tonight. On way home yesterday, my friend and I stopped just outside Newport at that farm produce place. I bought 12 ears of the best corn for $5 and a big Crenshaw melon. The corn was the white/yellow mix which is the sweetest and best ever. If you have never had a Crenshaw melon, you should. They are so good. They're yellow smooth skinned on outside and orange like a cantaloupe inside but a tad sweeter and softer than a cantaloupe. I LOVE them. My friend bought fresh tomatoes, corn, and melon. The melons were just $3. I wish I had bought a watermelon but I'll do that on way home next Saturday after Mom's party.

Due to Mom having to be moved into chair and out with a lift, we are having her party in the activity room at nursing center. They have let us reserve it and the outside courtyard patio from 11am til 2pm. That will be much easier than trying to transport her.

I have never had black hair but my granddaughters hair is almost black. My hair as a child was a golden blonde then it changed to an ash blonde/brown(what used to be called a dishwater blonce) until Clairol took over so it could be any color. Got tired of all that and then let the gray come in. By the way Francie, I love natural white hair, it is beautiful!

You are mysterious and quiet. Many people wish to know you, for they can sense your wisdom even before they talk to you, but you let very few people in. Those friends you have you greatly treasure, and they treasure you

Beth, Thanks for the fun quiz.

Mine is:
The best hair color for you is...
Auburn

You are carefree and light-hearted. Nothing seems to stress you out or push your buttons. You can easily calm the tensest of situations, and your friends are always glad to have you close by whenever they are in trouble.

I was a light auburn(naturally) - more like what they call 'strawberry blonde' when I was 12-13 yrs old.

My hair has gone through every natural color stage during my lifetime. I was born with very dark hair, then it was honey blonde when about 6-8, then it turned medium brown, then it was the strawberry blonde, then it turned dark brown, then it was mottled gray, and now is au naturelle white but I like to use a blondish color on it.

My answer was:

Red
You are quick-tempered, but also quick-witted. Your impulsiveness makes people enjoy being around you, and your friends know you as extremely loyal.

Taking it very easy so I can go see Mom tomorrow. I have a good friend going with me. I got Mom a lovely lavender dress for her birthday. It has gorgeous crochet work on the bodice and is lined I'll take it to her. She may want to wear it to her big party/reunion on the 19th or maybe in the nursing facility beauty pageant on the 23rd.
I go see orthopedic doc on 24th. It's getting closer.
I will be starting the weight loss program with the specialist in first week of August. He said since I have so many things coming up this month, that would be best to start then. He will have a special list of foods and a supplement that I have to use. He has already sent me list but I won't get the supplement until I go see him. He is very strict about me sharing info (since this a paid for service) and he has very adamantly told me to NOT weigh myself at home. I either have to weigh in his office or at my doc office. I guess for consistency sake. he has even gotten with my doc here to see if their scales are same kind.

Tricia, I hope your pain is better and praying for a speedy recovery.

Martha, hope you never get the wet kind macular degeneration. I think the wet kind is what Mom has in one eye.I sure hope she doesn't lose her sight in the one good eye. I think that losing her sight would just do her in. That's about all that she can do is see.

Rusty, I envy you being able to do all that walking and hiking.

Beth, Cindy, and all the rest of the team, we are missing y'all.

Y'all have a Terrific Thursday!

Tricia I hope you are feeling better, but as I recall the first day was a drugged daze and the second was exciting as I got up and walked and neither knee hurt as they had. My surgeon gave me an injection that worked in the non replaced knee. Both knees were totally replaced the 1st Dec 2005 and the second Dec 2006. For me, the PT was critical. I used the knee bender as much as I could stand and I was not afraid of using the pain meds before I went to PT. I kept my knee iced, I used two, two gallon zip lock bags with ice and water in one bag with the air pushed out and it zipped in the other bag to keep it from leaking. I did the PT exercises at home as well as the PT sessions and I credit my surgeon, Dr Ball, and the PT work to give me flexibility that allows me to get down on the ground and play on my knees with the grand kids. I weighed close to 400 pounds when I had the surgery. The surgery was on Monday and I went home on Thursday and walked up the stairs Friday rather than use the potty chair downstairs. There was pain in the recovery but the pain the knees gave me before the surgery was greater and constant while I stood, so I was glad for the reduction that I had. I waited a year because my mother got sick and I had to provide care until her death. Look forward to great things with your new knee. Last week my fitbit showed we walked 11.5 miles in hilly land on root covered trails in the Land Between the Lakes Park in KY with two of our grand children and their church group. My back and feet were tired but my knees were just fine.

When I had my cataract surgery, the hardest part was the time in between surgeries. One eye was seeing perfect and the other was throwing my vision off, couldn't wait for the other eye to match the first.
Please keep Tricia in your prayers, she seems to be in lots of pain.
Tomorrow I'm going to get my hair cut, I usually do my own but with poor vision now, I need someone else to do it. It is impossible to see how to cut the back now
emoticon emoticon emoticon AMD runs in my family, my grandmother, then Mother, me and my sister recently diagnosed. I had a specialist tell me that I would never get the wet kind, praise the Lord! I am still able to take care of Angel's haircuts, have always done hers, someone else would probably make her very nervous.
Hope you all have had a good day!

Tricia made it through surgery just fine according to her post on Face Book.

I haven't done much of anything today due to the fogginess caused by the strong pain pill I took last night.

Martha, I love the chair exercises by Paul Eugene. He has so much energy.

Tricia, still praying and thinking of you.
Cindy, so glad to see your post, it always takes time to get back in the groove after all the moving and life changes you have went through. I was going to post the same thing as Francie, find a chuch of your choice and become active and you will surely make many friends. You can do it, just emoticon
I found some exercises I can do, chair exercises with Paul Eugene on youtube, he almost makes it fun! and you really get a good overall exercise workout.
Angel is more like her ole self, she just goes with me to the mailbox a few times a week and they haven't sprayed in a few days. I guess I was walking her too long and since she has black in her fur, she was getting too hot and tired, but she loves it emoticon but I have to do what's best for her.

Cindy, good to hear from you again. I'm sure the move had a big impact on you. Why don't you find a good church to attend. That's usually a good place to find friends. Maybe get involved in some community projects.
So sorry about the loss in your family.

I'm in the pain pill fog this morning but at least I got sleep and not hurting as badly this morning. The pain pill makes me have crazy silly dreams that make no sense at all. LOL
I have to get off here and eat something for breakfast so I can take my vitamins/mineral supplements. Never good to take those on empty stomach unless otherwise directed.

Y'all have a Magnificent Monday.

My weight loss is questionable i need a new scale- i have had some mega slips up lately im going to start my diet pill again- hope i can gt a boost to be where i want. I think all the moving end of May took a toll on me,

I am still cooking healthy but i just feel heavier and i do not like this.
Arkansas is alright, got my license and tags switched, I just not sure what to think only having one friend makes it tough really need to make some friends.....LOL really am missing home which is Massachusetts where my mom is

found out last night by step dad died in may, from a heart attack we lost touch over the years. wish i had tried to find him sooner. the day he died his other daughter died same day kinda weird, wel think her dying is what made him die we think maybe he got a call regarding it but no sure.....Kinda torn as he was the only dad i knew growing up, he adopted me i have his last name, then last month his son died, then i found out 2 years ago his other son died.so out of 5 kids one daugher is all alive, and then of course me......why is it when someone dies people can be found when your all healthy lose contact

Sounds like everyone is doing much better on here. Glad to here from everyone. Rusty, I will keep you in my prayers for your cataract surgery.

Martha, I don't think you're ready to downsize or be with people who are less active than you. I hope your puppy is doing better. That mosquitoes spray is rough stuff and I don't know how much it helps the mosquitoes but I guess it's better than nothing.

Francie, I need to have my hubby go over to the veggie vendor on Highland and stock up on corn and fresh veggies for when I get out of the hospital. I have to try your cooking ideal. Sounds easy.

I have to be at NEA Baptist at 5:30 in the morning so hopefully I will be 1st on the surgery routine. My hubby will be keeping people updated on Facebook and maybe by 2nd day I'll be up to getting on FB. Please keep me in your prayers as I know this recovery will be long and difficult. I am going in with a positive attitude and with God and medical science I'm going to get better and be able to walk again.

Rusty, did you have total knee replacement? How long was your recovery time and how long ago was it. If you don't mind me asking. Thanks

Before I forget to answer your question Francie. My daughter used to work for Liberty Bank and she had a customer that lived at South Winds and she would visit her often. She told me I wasn't ready for a place like that as most were older and using walkers, she said I was too young and too healthy at this time emoticon Now she is a nurse and knows all about the elderly. She did say it was a beautiful place but the apartments were small. It was a shock to me to downsize from my house to this apt and I don't know if I would want to downsize again at this time. So for now, I will stay here, who knows what the future will bring!

Oh my, so sorry the spray affected her. Not good for anyone. Martha, have you checked out South Wind Heights anymore?

Well, I'm going to do the weight loss specialist program. I will go by end of this month or early next. I have already talked to him. He assures me that what he will use with me is completely safe. I'm glad I won't have to go to LR every month. I will just have to go to my doc here for weigh-ins and periodic check-ups. He told me I would probably shed weight quite quickly. I worry about that and told him so. He assured me that what I will be using will not jeopardize my health or body in any way. It is something he has researched for several years. Not everyone can use it and he doesn't accept everyone. Based on my medical records with no major health issues other than being 150- 170 lbs overweight, he said he thought I was an excellent candidate. After I lose all I need to lose, I will be on a maintenance. He is Swiss and the program he uses was developed in Switzerland with lots of great results over there. I'm glad I got accepted. My insurance will pay part but not all. It's Ok. I know I have to do something to get this excess baggage off my bones, joints, and muscles. It's much better than having surgery to get it off.

I bought fresh corn- the white/yellow mix- from the vendor on Highland. It was so good. I need to get more. I saw the post on Facebook about fixing in microwave still in husk and cutting off the back end before putting in , then when done, you squeeze the ear out the back end and doesn't leave any silks. It cooks it just right, too. Now when it gets done, I peel a few outer leaves off and grab hold of back end of corn with tongs or a fork and then squeeze/pull/twist on silk end and it slips out of there taking silks with it. 3 minutes for 1 ear, add 3 minutes for each ear added. Here is a link. Now in this, the cook waits til is cooked to cut off end. I haven't tried it that way.

Someone living here or the apartment management had a small fireworks display last night, very nice. I am going to have to do an exercise routine in the apt from now on, my walking buddy isn't doing too well with the heat and mosquito spray. The other night we were outside when the plane flew over and she hasn't felt well since and she tends to lick her feet and I know that doesn't help when we walk through that stuff.

Martha, I really think I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens.

It has been a quiet day here. I haven't done much of anything. Didn't have to cook. Had some leftovers. Bill went to his brother's this afternoon to spend some time with all his siblings. All 6 of them besides him. Bill is the oldest. Not more than a year and a half between any of them. 1 brother lives in Portia, 1 brother in Walnut Ridge, 1 brother in Hoxie, 1 sister in Walnut Ridge, 1 sister in Paragould, and 1 sister in Tennessee. There was a little girl just older than Bill but she died at birth. Bill won't stay real late cause mosquitoes will just about carry you off over there in Portia.

I dread hearing the boom boom tonight. We usually hear them til midnight. Bella hates it.

I got my natural supplements in that I was out of. I also got the Boswella that Martha told me about. I also got the natural thyroid boost- only a different brand this time. We'll see. My doc wants me to see a weight loss specialist. He said the specialist doesn't advocate surgery or use prescription meds that make you all jittery or with bad side effects. He uses natural things that have been well researched. My doc said he thought the specialist could help me get this 150 lb excess baggage off my bones, joints, muscles. He said my insurance would pay for part if he writes it as medical necessity. He also said if I didn't like what I heard, I didn't have to try it.The specialist is in Searcy-- meant Little Rock- go once a month for 2 months. If things go well, then my doc will continue overseeing the course that the specialist puts me on. Have to be 100+ pounds over to do it. Specialist is from Switzerland. I'm seriously pondering. Will be next month if I decide to check it out.

I went for my Pre-Op testing this morning and then did a little shopping. By the time I got home my knee was killing me. Took a break watching my sweet hubby vacuum our ceiling, walls & floors. Having a wood stove gets a lot of soot on things so once a year he cleans from top to bottom literally. Just some dusting and mopping and house will be in pretty good shape before my surgery.

Then I made 5 dozen lemon verbena sugar cookies. I also have to make baked beans for my MIL house tomorrow. We always have the 4th with my hubby's family. Nice because they are next door. We will grill burgers & hot dogs, corn on cob, grilled fresh veggies, homemade ice cream and black berry cobbler. No fireworks for us this year. Just too much to do this year.

Francie, I hope your knee begins to get some relief soon. I'm sorry you won't get to spend time with Bill's family. I understand about the mosquitoes. They are horrible this year on the lake. We are constantly fighting to keep them out of the house. They like to hide in the corners and get you in the dark.

Martha & Rusty, I hope you both have a great 4th of July.
