I agree, college ball is auditions for pro ball and education is seldom a consideration. The ones that make the pros should take money management and then the can be dumb and happy. The rest need a job.

Better watch those falls. They can be trouble. This weather is time to stay inside and let the grass wilt.

Speaking of football, I have enjoyed cheering for Ohio State, but the coaches today get wuch big salaries and the recruiting seems more serious and offensive than pro ball.....I am beginning to wonder if I should be a fan of high school or jr. college teams?

push mowed front yard, first time since 83. Wasn't so bad, I mowed from sun to shade. Then went down the street with pitchfork and cleaned out culver and mowed ditches. Fell again. Hurt my hand, my pride is fine.

I don't think I will push mow again until my back has played nice for a while. Walked this afternoon in 96+ degree temps on a mostly shaded trail. Wife rides a bike so she is active for the same time and found out she is burning a lot of calories. Great deal.

I am lazy and I call the people in CV who are in charge of ditch mowing....And we have a lawn man now DH's health is frail. At least til he regains strength.

I am assuming some of what he thinks are the man's jobs. But I have to do it diplomatically. It's good exercise for me. My to do list includes more painting, plant care, window washing etc etc. He has stumbled on to my sweetness actions of dusting inside in the air conditioned house, while he sweated and worked hard outside. I am busted.... emoticon

Used my push mower to cut the ditch banks along the highway to each side of the entry to our subdivision last evening. Had weedeated it before and thought the mower did a nicer job. Today my back has challenged me to try that again. After I finished court I could not voluntarily stand erect. I drove home and took a little pill and now I will stand erect without too much whining and crying. Wife asks why I tend to others property and my answer is I see it each day and when I come home it depresses me to see a mess. That opens a whole book but that is a mess I can and have dealt with and hopefully will continue to without so much fallout.

Really enjoyed last week. Had a great hike along the railroad track this evening exploring to discover a long abandoned wye. Rubbed a blister because I was too lazy to put on an extra pair of socks and walked striking the crossties with my toes and rolled up to step off. Oh well, I found what I was looking for and will scout it out this winter.

Vitamin B1 is supposed to make humans emit an odor repugnant to mosquitoes. I used over dosages of B complex, a water soluble vitamin, to make an internal mosquito spray. While camping with Scouts and using Vit B I didn't have problems with mosquitoes, ticks or chiggers. This may be coincidental, but I am a believer.

VBS is important. Our church had let it slide but we picked it up again. Now we are a free day care for a week.
I got a bunch of chiggers somewhere. Haven't had a chigger in 10 years or so. I began to think and I fell down mowing the right=of=way ditch at the entrance to our street and that must be where they came from. My vitamin B didn't help because I am taking them at night with my meds and they are washed out by noon or earlier. I will start taking two before I go to work out side!

You're right some exercise can't be tracked! I wear a BodyMedia tracker. It keeps track of all I do, so I don't have to worry about tracking. I just plug it into my computer and it downloads my day. Tells me how many calories total I've burned for the day. Very handy. All I have to do is put my meals into a program to see my calorie differential.

VBS went well last night. Only had 18 kids though.

That's nice that they give you keys to the pool. Not only do you not need the screaming kids, but it's hard to swim when it's full of playing kids. Hope your wife's knee gets better. Not fun to have bad knees.

More tomorrow! Have a great day.

Some exercises you cannot track! Wife went to track with me this afternoon and she was walking inside while I walked outside. Her knee started bothering her after 30 minutes so I cut off early and we went to the pool and swam for 30 minutes. It is closed on Mondays so we had it to ourselves. They give old folks keys since we do not need a life guard or screaming splashing kids.

Rusty, your last sentence had me laughing out loud! You may not have been laughing later on!

Glad to see Rhonda checking in. Sounds like she's busy as ever. I hope she has a great vacation!

So glad you're wife didn't get soaked yesterday. Hate that her knee is bothering her. That trail sounds really nice to walk. Wish I lived near something like that.

Well, I've already exercised so now it's time to get busy. Today is floor cleaning day. Not my favorite, but a necessity. Have a good one.

Wife and I went hiking on the Delta Heritage Trail this afternoon and her knee flared up after 2 miles so she sat on a bench and I walked on down another 1.5 and two friends on bikes stopped to visit. I headed back and wife had walked further and was getting worried, it hurt, she was hot and the gnats and mosquitoes were making a lot of noise. She elected to wait at cross road, there was a bench and let me get the truck and pick her up. As I was walking it started thundering so I picked up my pace. It started to sprinkle as I unlocked my truck but I was soaked already. I rushed and picked her up and the sun was shining and not a drop had fallen. Got home showered and went to church. After church she had a vegan vegetable soup which tasted delicious. Then she told me it was a purge soup. May have to pick up my pace again!

You're a good person to do what others do not! Just pace yourself in this hot weather!

Daughter is attending VBS this week. I have volunteered to help as needed. Should be fun. Will be all week except Wednesday when she has gymnastics.

The washer and dryer are calling my name. Have a wonderful Sunday. More tomorrow!

This morning my body reminded me I am 64. Took about an hour to limber up and move and then went to office to work. This afternoon the heat and humidity were as draining as yesterday. I didn't have the push to keep kicking. I push mowed the ditch at the highway that runs by our dead end street and had taken a push broom to clean up our street from the mowing by absentee owners employees. I was so tired after cutting the bank that I only cleaned 15 feet. Needed a shovel, maybe tomorrow? Have several "light" projects that I will do alone. I will get some help to finish the logging job.

How very nice of you to remove the limb, especially in this heat. And then to exerciser after that! I know you know this, but just be careful out in the heat!

Not much going on my way today except housework. Hope you have a great Saturday!

Court was continued due to prosecutors being at Municipal League meetings, even though we do not use them on Fridays. Walked, swam and with the help of a good friend removed a huge limb, 36" diameter, that had broken during a storm and the contractor cut the ends off that broke the fence and left the monster hanging. I feared some kid would try to climb it and it would come down. I need not have worried. We finally got it down and cut it into sections, it was gum, and drug them to bloke the old drive to keep people from cutting across the lot to avoid a one way street. Tow chain saws, a winch and we got it done in two hours of steady work. My church owns a part interest in the lot.

Summer is definitely here. My daughter asked me why I don't walk outside? I told her it's too hot and the mosquitoes are too bad! Being around these rice fields they would carry us off no matter the time of day.

I finally get a day at home today. My son's eye appointment was changed from today to yesterday. Of course now husband has me running errands for the farm, but that's ok. I don't have far to drive for those!

I hope you have a great Friday! Sorry the mechanic was able to fix your mowers so fast and you were able to mow! We have 3 acres to mow so we invested in a lawn tractor. Still takes about 2 hours but much better than it used to be!

More tomorrow!
