I better back up - I really like the page now, but having had Google and several work pages change recently, it was more than my system was ready for.
Smidgon, we try to help our moms with their computers. They're both in their 70s also. Thank you for willing to be on a site like this! I don't think I'd ever get my mom or mom-in-law this involved in computing. I'm grateful you're here!
~~~~~~~~~~ It is not our purpose to become each other; it is to recognize each other, to learn to see the other and honor him for what he is.
I am with you---I don't like change! My belief is "If it's not broken---don't fix it"!
It seems everything is changing. Spark People; Google; Gmail; and Century Link! I can take my computer to my daughter's in Indy. She'll hook me up to her system and I can be on it all afternoon, and, no problems! What a refreshing time!
I am 73 and people would say I am sit in my ways. Not so, for I have always been that way! Just leave it alone, as far as I am concerned!
"All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, and are called according to His purpose."
I look at the change positively. I get into ruts and complacent about things at times. With the page being different, I have to look at it as if I were looking at it for the first time. It's giving me more motivation and reminding me to take advantage of a lot of great support and advice.
God grant me the serenity to change the things I can, to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.
When I logged into SparkPeople last week, I had a mild panic attack. What I knew as my start page was gone. I had to literally slow my breathing, close my eyes, take a mental step back, and look at the new page slowly. Bit by bit. I'm finding I like it quite a bit, but I did NOT like the change. I did like that they started warning me about it a few days earlier, but still didn't quite feel ready for the change.
I like the way SparkPeople tried to ease folks into it - they have some great ideas and a wonderful support system here, in my opinion. Watching their healthy habits helps me encourage my own.
Just in case you haven't seen it, here's the link to the blog where they introduce the Start Page change and a couple of the whys behind it.
