I use natural medication prescribed by a naturopath, and it actually works... its the strongest combination of herbs for anxiety, california poppy, ashwaganda and kava (highest percentage). I take 5ml in the morning but can have up to 15ml, depending on how i feel. No long term negative side effects like some mainstream medication and it really works for me...
I just posted a thread about taking magnesium. I had really scary reactions to anxiety medications and I couldn't take them. By chance I was reading a book about health and nutrition and he talked about magnesium calming anxiety down.
I figured it was worth a try so I started taking it and it made a huge difference. Apparently it cna be deficient in your cells so a blood test will make it look like your levels are fine.
Within 24 hours I could feel a huge difference. I've been taking it for maybe 5 or 6 months now and I don't get panic attacks or huge anxiety attacks. When I have anxiety it's much lighter and controllable.
The one I like is called Mag Ox. Somebody recommended I try it. I have to order it online. I tried others and they helped, but this one is chalky and the pill is sort of soft. It seems to be absorbed better or something. I tried magnesium/calcium combo and it didn't work as well for some reason.
I take half the dose in the morning, 200 milligrams. If I feel anxious in the afternoon or evening I take the other half and it calms me down in about half an hour. Often I only need the half dose now.
Once I read it in that book, I googled it and sure enough there are tons of articles about it. I even found one on the National Institutes of Mental Health site. Even if you are on medication it can't hurt to try it.
