I saw the acupuncturist yesterday morning. We talked about generalized anxiety order and what acupuncture could do for me. It's his experience that while acupuncture works well to relieve symptoms, the best approach is a combination of that with cognitive behavioral therapy. (CBT).
He emphasized that if I went the CBT route, it was important to find someone who specializes in that and does not subscribe to pyscho therapy and meds.
I've given it some thought and done some research, and I'm still in the "I dunno" stage. He did give an acupuncture treatment, which was really relaxing, and asked that I keep track of how long the effect lasted. So far it's been about 26 hours and no anxiety. So that's a positive.
I see him again tomorrow and will let him know what I decide on CBT and/or continuing to see him.
I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your posts.
Any success or "forget it" stories to share regarding CBT???
