I just got a pair of smart wool for Christmas. Can't wait to take them out for a spin in the cold.

For hats, I just yesterday got a Mountain Hardware hat that is more of a lightweight fleece headband with the rest of the hat constructed out of uninsulated windstopper fabric. I ran in it today at about 36F and it was perfect for keeping my ears warm without having buckets of sweat pouring off my head. I got it at Sierra Trading Post, not sure if they sell them online.

For socks, I like Icebreakers as well as, if not better than Smartwool, but you can't go wrong either way. They will last, which makes them worth the money.

I definitely swear by SmartWool socks. I used them when I was out and about in Upstate New York during Christmas and my feet were toasty warm. :)

I'm w/LBTHOMASJR on the SmartWool socks. They come in different thicknesses, from thin to pretty thick and cushy. For covering my ears in moderately cool temps, I go for an insulated headband, something like this: www.amazon.com/ASICS-Unisex-De-Luxe-Fleece
-Headband/dp/B00546RHDS/ref=pd_sbs_a_1
I only wear a cover-the-top-of-the-head hat when it is really cold.

Just got a pair of Smart Wool socks. They are so comfortable that I think I will now direct my loved ones to bury me in them when that time comes! Wonderful.

Hello Team -

Any recommendations for winter running socks? I'd like a fairly thin, but warm pair to cover my feet and ankles.

I'm in Florida, so I need a warm, but not necessarily an Arctic solution. :)

Oh yes - any thoughts on hats that cover ears? My summer running cap is wonderful, but it leaves my ears exposed - and they get a bit chilly.

Thanks for your help!

Liz
