Good luck on your first HM!! Trust your training, start out slooooow, and enjoy yourself!! Listen to Coach Nancy. I wish I had more specific advice, but I just never get nervous before a race. It's just another run, with more people around. And bling at the end. And a cool shirt. And free gatorade! You'll do just fine.
Hi, This is my first half too! I'm really excited but so far the nerves haven't kicked in yet just a few butterflies in the tummy. I've been watching my food intake this week and getting sleep...except for tonight. I'm back in the classroom teaching after being out for 2 years and those nerves are much worse. LOL

You are ready! You have done the homework, now all you have to do is take the test...relax and run your race. Try not to get pulled into another runner's pace. And if you don't sleep well the night before, that's OK, just make sure you get a good night's sleep the next few nights.
My first half marathon is this Sunday. It's the Rock N Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon. This will be my 4th race overall. I usually get pre-race nerves, but the nerves just set in today and these are "OMG FIRST HALF MARATHON - YES THAT MEANS 13.1 MILES" nerves. I'm shaky and my stomach is in knots. I REALLY just want to relax and enjoy the whole experience and not ruin it by worrying and freaking out. My only goal is to finish before the 4 hour time limit (preferably in 3:30), which I mean, really if I walked it with a little running, I could do that and normally my race pace is 15:00 mm.
Does anyone have advice for me on how to stop the nerves? What's worked for you all in the past?
