That's awesome! One day I have to do a race outside of NYC. There are always elite runners winning the races in super human time. I'm usually finishing in 1000+ place :p

It's an amazing feeling! I am working on returning to my single digit size, and training for my first half-marathon in September. I recently have ran a 5k, and a 5 mile race, and finished second in both!! Keep up the good work! It's a great feeling to be a mom,and winning awards for athletic competitions!!!!

I ran a 5k today. It was a last minute decision. (And by last minute, I mean I grabbed the girls and drove them over to the next town for the final in-person registration 15 minutes before it sold out yesterday.) A good friend was running a half-marathon as part of the same event, and after running my first half back in October, I wanted to be there to support her. So I registered, was in the truck before 6 am this morning, leaving hubby and the twins sleeping, and was off to a fun Sunday run about an hour away from home. This morning was gorgeous, a perfect running day. 62 degrees at the start of the race, a light breeze, sun. I was excited, and happy to run into some other people I know. I waited my turn in the very long port-o-let line, checked my bag, and made my way to the starting line. Iíve ran a few 5ks this spring, trying to get myself back in the saddle and ready to start another half training plan for a race in September. I set a 5k PR in April, and Iím finding myself more and more ready to get back to the healthy lifestyle I found just over a year ago when I started running and became a part of Sparkpeople. Today was just for fun and to support my friend. But now itís more. I find myself so excited about placing in this race that I can barely sit still. I immediately logged on to write this blog and share my happiness with all of you. Not only did seeing my friend finish her half motivate me, but also what Iím now starting to see in myself. I can do this. If I want to do this, I can. I have 26 pounds left to lose. I can do it. I want to run another half-marathon. I can do it. I want to live a healthy life and show my girls how to be strong and motivated and proud of themselves. I can do it. I didnít hear my name announced at the podium because I was watching my friend on a different part of the course. We hugged at mile 8 and took a picture. Iím so proud of her. She inspires me to be my best. But who knows, maybe at future races, I need to stick around the bandstand for a whileÖ.
