Today I hit milestone I made a choice to not run the 8 k today for which my body is telling me that my ankes and calves are sore and don't push me as you will cause an injury . Sure I could of done the race and walked / ran and finish the race walking, but the risk risk was to high . The last time, I went beyond what my body was trained for I crossed the finish line but I was a whole 10 weeks healing up. It was so sad I was unable to exercise for that period of time. I want to remember the feeling of slowly getting strong as when I completed couch to 5 k with a my first 5 k race May 6. To remember that I was ready for the race, and crossed that finish line strong and was able to go back to my training after a 1day rest. I will not beat myself up not doing this race and will focus on what I can do and how strong I am getting with my training and relax and love running . I promise to be kind to me.
I will continue with training for my second 5 k race in july and my half marothon in October.

Nancy, 5.75 km. is the furthest which I know is not even close to 8 k.
So I am realizing that even-though I have been running 3 times a week since the 5 K May6. I am running with my family to encourage them to keep going and they have been dong well with C25K, but in doing so, I may have lost endurance in the process. I went for a run this evening and I tried Running for 10 mins and walking 1min and I did a total of 22mins. I still did my 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down. I did not push it any further as the 8K is on Saturday so I have 1 day break before. Maby today was a harder for me because I was going faster and lifting my feet more that when I did the 5 K May 6. I am a little nervous though as today was not a walk in the park.. IS this Bad or Good and how will I do at a 8 K race considering?
I really don't want to feel like I am copping out of doing race on Saturday. So hard to know what to do. I walked it last year and I had really hoped I would be able to come back this year running it. I so very much want to do it but I don't want to embarrass myself by walking running as I was able to run the whole 5 K May 6. Also I definitely do not want to cause injuries.
Bad news my daughter has very sore calfs that last couple of days as after our last rut the very next day in gym class they had to run 12 mins and she was sore to begin with. Good new is she is beginning to heal up. I also got a appointment for Pothiadrist for her incase she needs an adjustment of her inserts. MOM is still running she is on Week 2 day 3 and doing well she is running in the mornings now on her own as it is a better time for her. I Love running in the morning to but due to work I have to go in evening and that is the time Heidi wants to go to. I love that my family is trying C25K.

I am working towards doing a half Marothon in October 2012 I walked it last year and have battled injuries but I seem to have a handle on it now as I learn Chi Running. It has enabled me to run pain free.
I am doing the Couch to 5 K again and so for month of May since my first 5K May 6, I have continued to run 3 days a week. I have only had a 4 day break once during May at the end of the following week after my 5 k race. This was due to a mussel that was really hurting at the top of leg but with massage it worked it out and I was off again to my training. What I have tried to do with my C25K training this time is to increase my pace so I am noticing that I am covering more distance in a shorter amount of time. I am feeling great.
I know that The 8 k is on saturday and I am thinking that I can do it but I will walk/run it. I know I could wait for the end of June for the 10 K but I would hate for a race to pace me by and not take part. YOU know I will feel like I am copping out somehow by not going and attempting to walk/run it. The 8 K Sun Run is a road race that is all on the flat, accept for one hill that when walking it takes about 10 to 15 mins. last Year I walked it the race and it was the first race I had ever done in my life and I was so proud . I really wanted to run the whole thing this year . It is a goal mine but Saturday is fast approaching.
