I broke down and got the GARMIN 405CX (after trying a Polar and not liking it). I got a great deal on it and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

I like my 305 because of the extras not the HRM feature. I use the HRM sometimes, but it does not convert the HR data to calories burned. I find this to be a limiting feature of of 305, it's okay for running and probably biking, but if you are doing an activity that it is not specifically designed for---like a step aerobics class it's limiting. With step you will seem to have burned no calories, because you have not traveled any distance even though it has registered an increase in your HR.

I love the Garmin, too, but it might be a bit much if you're ONLY looking for a HRM. If you want tracking and GPS too? I love my 305.

I have no "goal weight". MY goal is to be as healthy, strong and active as I can be. This isn't about my relationship with the scale but my relationship with the world.

I personally like the Garmin, however, remember that doing HRM training in summer can be a tad tricky due to cardiac drift...when your heart rate is naturally high to help keep your body cooler.

Curious if anyone can recommend a good heart rate monitor or deter me from what not to buy?
Thanks in advance!
