In-N-Out has a way of doing that to people. :)

That is the first place my sister goes when she comes home to visit.

I never thought the idea of drinking after a race was very appealing, either. However, I ran the "Fay Boy 5k" last month and they handed out Michelob Ultra to the finishers. I almost didn't try it, but I did, anyway, and it tasted pretty darn good. And a bunch of carbs right after a race isn't a bad idea, either...

Now, a big fat Double-double right after a race... that could either be real bad or real good.

hehe Oh I can understand your pain over missing out on In-N-Out. I'm a Southern California native and any of my friends that leave here always have to lament over the loss of the hamburger legend.

My step-mom saw my comments on Vegas RnR's Facebook page and she said she'll get me a room for free and be waiting at the finish line with drinks. (I'm not a big drinker to begin with, and the idea of drinking after 13.1- yuck!) She gambles so much that she gets free rooms all the time. So this may end up being a fairly inexpensive trip. Now I've just got to whip my problem knee into shape to do the half distance again!

thanks sleepydean. we've decided to go with the st. louis rnr marathon. it's a lot closer and will be easier with our children not flying anyways. The only things I will really miss with not going to vegas? the chance to eat at in-n-out burger. :( Oh well! :)

That's one of the drawbacks of doing the race at night. Closing down The Strip is definitely a negative for all the casinos if access is restricted especially at night during their prime hours. It wasn't quite so bad when it was during the morning hours. So, I can see why they may not want The Strip closed for too long at night, but hopefully the race coordinators can work something out so they don't have to make such a fast limit to the marathon.

JC, there is talk that they will loosen up the marathon limit as the event gets closer, and they are definitely getting a lot of negativity because of it.

4 & 1/2 hours? I was hoping to go for this as my first marathon but I'm not sure I can do it in that time! My husband and dad really want to do it and the warmer winter weather is certainly appealing, but I'm wondering if I should look for something else, maybe closer to home!

Registration will actually be closed for about 2.5 months and will reopen May 31st. (Not sure why the huge break, and there really isn't that much incentive to register now, as they may offer coupon codes when it reopens.)

I'm going to wait to register since the half doesn't have a limit, and the price only goes up $9 for the half at that point. I will be at RnR in San Diego on June 5th so I may register there if they offer an incentive.

They posted some more information in the FAQ section today. Apparently, the exact route is still being finalized, and they said that the 4:30 cut off MAY change but they wanted everyone to know what they are potentially signing up for.

After 3/10 they are closing down sign ups for a month, so I have a feeling when they reopen it they will have the course all set.

i think it's really great that they're doing a night race - that sounds like fun! (Personally I LOVE running at night!!) I won't be doing Vegas this year mainly because I am doing Goofy at WDW in January and won't have more $$ to shell out for destination races. But maybe in 2012!! It's on my bucket list for sure!

4:30 is kinda quick. Probably too fast for my first marathon experience, anyway. I'm glad they reversed it from last year and now it will run thru the neighborhoods first, then run the strip for the second and final half.

The half marathon kind of wound around the downtown area a bit too much in 2010, so it will be awesome that it stays on the strip the entire time this year. :)

Not sure if you checked out the info yet, but the full has a time limit of 4:30. And a lot of people are pretty unhappy about that.

The limit on the half is 4 hours and it starts 1.5 hour later? Someone questioned that on their Facebook page, but they still didn't explain that logic.

The half runs the length of the strip twice, which I think is different from years past. I am really excited!

I did the 2010 Las Vegas RNR Half. Am considering doing the full in 2011, but my wife is probably going to run the half this year, and if she commits to it, then I will probably not run so I can watch her start and finish.

But, running The Strip at night sounds awesome!

I've been waiting all day for the announcement. Just booked my hotel and will be registering tonight too.

This will most likely be my 2nd half/return to halfs after my knee issues in late 2010.

Now I just want them to release details about the NYE run in Palm Desert, CA that was in the Competitor magazine in February.

Just wanted to let everyone know, if you're considering doing the Vegas Rock n Roll Marathon they just opened registration and they are discounting the registration fees for both the full and the half to $121 through 3/10.

Also, this year the race will be at night, starting at 4 for the full and 5:30 for the half.
