My son loves trains so I take him to the train store where they have six train tables set up in the back. He plays and I read a book. Usually spend at least an hour there.

We also go to the Zoo, the Arboretum, the nature centers, the state parks, conservatory. All fairly inexpensive.

Lots of fun crafts for kids!

Make up some fun family games.

Just some ideas...

Sounds like you're going to be pretty busy, NANNYJAYNE - I have to make it a point to go to the Smithsonian one of these days.

By the looks of things, we're going to be transferring this summer, which will mean a loooooong travel-vacation along with the move. "Cheap" and fun for the whole family is definitely in our plans! lol Since we'll be visiting family thru-out PA/MD (our homestates) I've been searching the web for some really good ideas:

Gettysburg
Hershey Park
Smithsonian Museums (in DC)
National Aquarium (in Baltimore)
Ft. McHenry
Oriole & Pirates ball games
Philidelphia - Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall, etc.
Lancaster County

Not sure if we'll get to all that, plus we'll probably add/think of more as time goes on. But I've always found that National parks and sometimes even State parks offer alot to do, and are typically free. Other places, if you look around, offer discounts, whether by coupon or just by certain days (ex: Tuesdays are half-price). Libraries also tend to offer fun activities during the summer. I know ours does family movie nights every few weeks.

Hi, BRIDE2B - I have no kids so I dont have anything planned other than a vacation for myself. I am into black history or history in general so I like to visit places that offer historical tours and such.

You're welcome to check me out at
www.ewedding.com
once there type in my name Dixie Johnson

I've considered doing some or most of those things you named. Just going all out for the wedding and do not want to neglect my normal summer objectives.

Last year we went to WILD ADVENTURES in Valdosta, GA and we had a weekend blast..

I don't know where you live but here in the DC area, the Smithsonian museums are free and there are many. The zoo is also free. Ther are also many parks and festivals that require none or very little money.

Hope that helps :-)

Hello sparkies, just want to see what everyone has planned for the kiddies to do while on summer vacation, that's not very expensive yet fun and very entertaining for them and the whole family in general.
