Hey all! I was reading your posts and I may have a solution for those of you who get "disappointed" when you only see that 1/2 pound or 1 pound come off at the end of the week. I know it can get frustrating because you work hard and you would like to see more. Weigh yourself only at the end of the month. When you weigh in only once a month it is typically between 4 - 10 pounds. Seeing that big of difference at the end of the month is a great motivator. I weigh myself every thirty days. I started on January 18th at 189....I weighed in on February 27th at 178. That is a good drop. I won't weigh myself again until April 1st. Hopefully then I will see around 168 - 172. I also only measure myself every 30 days. Try it. Becoming obsessed with the scale every week can get discouraging! Good luck to you all and I hope this helps with some ideas on how to stay motivated!

mgirl-i'm only losing about a pound a week..sometimes its REALLY frustrating, but i just have to remind myself that what i'm doing for my body is good in the long run. the weight will come off, i just need to stick with it, and be healthy!

I'm 5'0" and have taken a few contact kickboxing classes. Being short is not a hindrance.

Yeah Rumple I don't like that jumpy thing either. I pretty much stay consistent with my calorie intake but my exercise varies each day. But hey it's better than it used to be lol. I would love to get into that kickboxing but I am short (5' 2 1/2") so I may not be able to do. Can someone let me know if being short is a hindrance? I wouldn't want to spend the money on DVD and gloves and find out later I was either too heavy or too short.

Everyone makes sense! I lose 1/2 lb - 1 lb. a week, and my health professionals say thats perfect, and healthy. My doctor says if your losing a lot in a short period of time, you can actually shock your body. If you have lot's of bad habits, slowly change them!

Also- We didn't gain it that fast! (If we did we would have stopped it sooner!LOL)

I think my scale tends to play tricks on me because I typically lose several pounds when I really kick it into gear, and then for 1 week or 2, I won't lose anything. Then I'll start to lose again. I'm trying to break out of that jumpy pattern. I'd rather see a slow and steady loss every week.

I average 2 lbs a week but this past week I lost only 1 lb. The thing to keep in mind is to concentrate on the NSV (non scale victories) my clothes are getting baggy, my legs are so very much stronger and my food attitude has changed. I not only eat healthier I also crave healthier foods and believe me that is a tremendous victory.

GOOD MORNING LADIES, It is going to be another beautiful day that the Lord has made. Well I see what all of you are saying about the weight coming off but the most important thing is you feel different you feel better. But keep exercising everyday even if it is a walk for 30 minutes and this why, the more you exercise you body will burn the fat 24 hours seven days a week but you have to also watch what you eat. Keep going don't give up you did not gain the weight over night. DRINK YOU WATER LOTS OF WATER, the water washes the fat cells and makes them smaller. Fat cells never go away they just get smaller. Have a great day.

Also, if you lose a pound a week, that is 52 pounds a year. That's a lot of weight.

Absolutely! However, slow weight lost is better for you than immediate weight loss. I have told myself to be patient and rely on how my clothes are fitting and how many inches I am losing. I try to encourage myself as much as possible. But, I must say since getting serious in January, I am starting to see definition in my arms. Now, if I can get definition in these flabby legs of mine, I will be too excited! LOL

Anyone else losing weight that slowly? At this rate, it's going to take me months to lose this weight, haha. Oh well, Im borderline hypothyroid, so we dont lose weight that fast. I'm just extremely impatient, obviously. Anyway, can anyone relate?
